Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

To anyone with over 3 months service already, does it show upgrade available? I hit the 3 month mark last week but still shows 07/01/2020 for me.

I have a Verizon iPhone 5s and got the green light on the sprint site when I checked the IMEI. I would like to port this phone over to the BYOD plan with a seldom used google voice number that I've had for some time. Assuming this all works as intended, I have a couple quick questions I'm hoping someone can answer without too much effort (I have no doubt each has been previously answered before in the wiki, but subsequent posts have made me question certain "facts").

1) I've read that sign-up usually goes smoother over the phone. However I keep reading horror storeis from multiple SD'ers over the past few days where they've been charged for insurance after explicitly stating to the CS rep that they do NOT want insurance. And there's a few people who have gotten signed up on regular post-paid plans, costing upwards of $100. I feel like these issues would have been avoided if you took the human element out of the equation and simply signed up using the website. Is this sound logic? Or should I bite the bullet and hope I get an honest/competent Sprint rep on the phone?

2) At what point during the sign up process will there be a hard credit check? For example, when I signed up for Verizon service online, it needed my social and address, and the hard check was conducted before I was even able to complete the sign-up process.

3) I read that there is a 120 day waiting period for switching the phone. Am I understanding that correctly? Because what if the phone breaks or get stolen and I want to replace it with an iPhone 8 that also has a clean IMEI?

4) Is the BYOD plan currently restricted to one phone line per customer? If I bring the original iPhone 5s over, can I immediately port over another 2 phones or will those require subsequent credit checks and/or entirely new accounts with a different owner?

TIA for any help. #1 and #3 are the most important (to me), but any info is very much appreciated.

1. Before hanging up, the phone rep confirms with you at least 3 times what plan you are signing up for. They cannot proceed unless you verbally authorize them to run credit check and create the free 1 year byod plan.

2. Credit check happens only if you are bring the 1st line over and after they confirm the phone/sim is compatible. Any subsequent lines after the 1st line can be ported over anytime within 1 year and no credit check needed. All lines on the plan will share the same time line ie if 1st line free year ends 11/30/19 then all subsequent lines ported over no matter when will have the same end date as the 1st line when the free service ends.

3. The 120 days waiting period is for upgrade or flex lease. You can buy any Sprint compatible phone at full price at any store or through 3rd party at any time and swap out the phone via phone swap request via chat or phone if your current phone is lost/broken and still keep the free year service.

If you want to swap, DO NOT go into any 3rd part store such as Best Buy or Apple to swap. You must request a phone swap via Sprint Chat or Sprint telephone only. Performing the swap at any location other than those 2 methods will result in losing the free year plan since the rep at Best Buy or Apple doesn't have access to the free year plan and they are forced to choose a new plan for the phone line being swapped.

My IPhone X and XS Max on Sprint DO use WiFi calling. In fact I just used it just now on the XS MAX to make the call.

5S lacks Sprint's main high speed band but it will work, in good areas, with no support of Magic, no support of Sprint repeaters in some shopping centers, and no high speed data. I would not touch it.

(1) The insurance is easy - take it and cancel it with support right after. Do it same day and it will not even appear on your bill. Sprint reps will not make mistakes if you ask for the FREE one year byod and verify. Otherwise, those paid plans errors occur when people make porting errors and other people in Sprint redo the setup later. Or when they go to stores for help. Just get the port right. These problems occur with online orders too.
(2) Most of us advise do not sign up online. Actually that's what often leads to double credit checks.
(3) There is no wait to swap. Do not focus on unfounded fears of a few uninformed posters which are always refuted right away.
(4) You can phones at your leisure later with no credit check.
