Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

All Mobile carriers do a credit check for postpaid accounts.

it's more than mobile carriers, pretty much any service or product that is postpaid requires some sort of credit check and/or proof of identity.

How long until I can switch to another device? Where do I do it so I don't lose my plan?

Any time you want -- just have your new phone & compatible SIM ready and do a regular online chat

Its called a "device swap" -- do not call it an "upgrade"

You can also try it yourself from your online account ("Activate/swap device" option) but it usually errors out

Hey guys, I'm looking for a Sprint (or CDMA unlocked phone) to buy and activate on here - any good deals?

So far I'm going to have to start buying from Craigslist or something

I have a question around the scenario after the one free year is up, what is the step-wise process to get off the plan without incurring the monthly charges?

Example: Let's say you activated on Nov 1, 2018. Then after one year, on Nov 1, 2019, do you simply call up Sprint and say cancel the plan? Do they charge your credit card for the month ahead, and if so, will you get your money back?

Thanks.

Sprint uses a whitelist system, which means even if your phone is fully compatible with the Sprint bands, it won't allow you to add into their network. It happens to a lot of the non-US phones, unless you can use your charm to persuade the tech support add your phone.
I know but I do not see it coming up much any more with the exception of a few phones where it can apply including some Amazon Moto's which got misclassified. I know there are a few other examples.

But the vast majority of low-end Huwaei's etc. are GSM only. Even when they have LTE bands used by Sprint, they usually lack the voice bands BC0 and especially BC10 used by Sprint alone for CDMA voice. A phone with no or crippled voice capability is not much use.

Also, Sprint is getting much better at keeping its database accurate these days. For example, when Samsung adds brand-switching to a model such as it did for S8 and Note 8, Sprint instantly updated its database by adding all of those IMEIs for all U.S. carriers.

I am picking up that store managers are aware of this and are much more reluctant to white-list phones unless it is an approved exception. In fact, I think they are often forbidden to do so.

So I do not think it applies much any more or is a practical consideration for most people. If you know of some recent exceptions, I would be interested to know details.

Otherwise, most newbie posters here (definitely there are some exceptions) are just trying to add a totally incompatible phone and it is pointless sending them on a wild goose chase of trying to get it white-listed.

Free service ends 11/30/2019 if you sign up now -- if you don't care about your number then you can call to cancel before your Nov 2019 statement cycle ends

Easier to port out the number to another carrier before free service ends -- less hassle than actually calling to cancel

Check Swappa, they have a lot of phones at a good price and are safe to deal with.

You might want to mention that they do not check for compatibility with Sprint postpaid, only for compatibility with Sprint mvno's.

This means most Sprint phones bought on Swappa will be rejected as ineligible because they will have the mvno-only flag set (this can be fixed later IF you know what you are doing), and some will be rejected because of other reasons including Sprint account unpaid etc UNLESS you specifically check the IMEI first yourself (do not rely on Swappa's check). A huge headache for most naive posters here.

Thanks. I understand, if you did not port out you will lose your number.

But, doesn't the terms of the free for one year means you will have to stay connected for 12 full months? Let's say, you port out on Nov 1, 2019. Maybe incur some pro-rated charges?

I am trying to figure out the best/clean exit plan after the 12 months of free has ended.

Thanks for any advice.

No. Port out at any time, even 1 day after enrolling, ends the plan completely as stated in the Wiki.
