Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Anyidea when iphone X with AT&T will be available for this free plan? I tried contacting them but they always say that this phone is not eligible.
It's not going to be because it lacks CDMA voice which is needed on Sprint to make phone calls.

You should have bought it at BestBuy as they supply the universal model even for AT&T use.

Thank you

I tried to search this monster thread but didn't see anything mentioning this.

My first free year ends 10/31/2018, I called in to see what my options were when this free year ends.

I was given a promotion to pay $25 for 4 months for the same plan. After 4 months if I upgrade my device I will be given another year of free service.

Was wanting to upgrade anyways so I signed up for the promo.
Can you provide any information on the upgrade options? Was there an upgrade promo also? I have a hard time paying $45 a month for the XS Max I want when I'm paying $4 a month for phone service. My 7+ works well enough. But I would like to upgrade.

I thought about switching carriers for a better upgrade deal to get the phone I want as my service is up in January, but this sounds like a decent deal if the upgrade terms are good.

Anyone have any experience swapping devices also? I thought about just buying outright locally. I didn't see anything in the wiki about how to swap devices or if it will affect your plan, just that you can swap them.

without it affecting your plan is implied, and that is in fact the case. All of the most active posters swap them all the time.

Finished my 1 year BYOD promo and went to FreedomPop afterward last week. Then a Sprint rep called me and offered $150 credit promo on 2GB/$30/month plan to get me back (that's 5 months free). I like Sprint and I don't use data much so of course I accepted the offer, which also comes with free Hulu limited commercial.

The port out of FreedomPop was annoying because they don't provide your account number and pin online. You need to contact them indirectly through their message board and wait for a rep to email you back. They don't work on weekends. And because they're considered a landline provider, it took 2 days to port out from their side. I'm really glad to be back with Sprint! Just giving my 2 cents.

And what a monster of a Wiki! I guess it's better than reading 1800+ pages of posts...
Wait a sec, hold on there tiger...
I must have something in my eye because I could have sworn I just read that you said you "like Sprint". This was obviously a typo because nobody comes up in here and professes such a sentiment. It's simply not done. Don't you pay attention to the mob?
J/K! I loves my Sprint. Xoxo Sprint and their reps and their data, and this thread

Can you do it in store, or do you need to do it over the special number listed in the wiki, or online chat maybe?

I found a like new iPhone X locally and go on vacation Friday morning. I'd like to buy it and swap but would like to do it in-store so I can verify the phone is legit and unlocked also (not one of those on-lease financed type deals).

You must do it only via chat or call tech. support call. Do not call Sales. If you let a store touch your phone or your plan you will be converted to a paid plan because that is all they have tools to deal with.

But it only takes a minute via chat so you could go off to the side in the store and do it yourself after checking the seller's phone only with the staff.

Did you check out the IMEI for eligibility? Remember the AT&T version will not work on Sprint. I guess you are saying it is the Sprint-compatible version.

Yes, the person said it is a Sprint network phone. So I could just have the store check to see it is eligible on the network and no holds on it, buy it from the person, then take it home and do the transfer via chat at my computer instead of doing it in the store? That would work out great.

I don't think there is any way to verify a phone being unlocked/not financed without going to a store right?

Try the imei now at https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...phone.html or the page for this plan.

Advance checks are never 100% foolproof, at store or online, so I would swap it on while you meet the person before paying cash. It does not have to be at a store though. It literally takes only a minute via chat. If the seller does not give you the Sprint sim, you need to get the correct one ahead of time. Try the Apple store.

With the new iPhone XS, you'll need a new sim card model. I got the SIMGLW416TQ sim (but apparently any SIM w/ an ICC ID that starts with 893 works) from a local Apple store. Couldn't switch my BYOD plan to iPhone XS through the self-service portal, but was able to get the Sprint chat to do so.

Can you expound for those of us that are of simple mind, and fatigued from reading endless Reddit, wiki, etc? I just activated an essential(aware radio is not the best, but Verizon worked well with consistent 14+ down))yesterday, at home (just north of Seattle) phone continues to repeatedly search for any data service.. at work getting slow but acceptable 5-6 down. Not familiar with the deep dive settings, APN etc. Thanks in advance for the help.
used to have an Essential too but now passed it on to the wifey. it works well with the sprint towers from where i live, Chicagoland area, Wisconsin, Indiana and the Michigan areas. am not too sure how is Sprint's coverage in your area but if i have trouble getting a signal i go to my settings and tap on
---mobile network---advanced---carrier settings---and update device config ( let it cycle after this until it says ok or successful)---then update prl. while you are doing update device config look at your bar reception on top part f your phone, it should disappear for a couple of seconds. if it did, that means your network has been reset. sometimes it does not let you update your device config. means there is some problem. you can restart your phone and do the same steps again. if still the same you can reset the network connection by doing this.

How To Reset The Network Connection (SCRTN)
What's an SCRTN?

An SCRTN (which stands for Special Code To Reset the Network) is a technical term used by the mobile industry. Basically, an SCRTN will reset your phone's connection to the carrier network, which is why an SCRTN is sometimes referred to as a "carrier wipe".

Does an SCRTN wipe all my information from the phone?
It does not. It only resets your connection to your mobile network. To completely wipe all the information from a phone, you would perform a factory data reset, which you can usually find in your phone's main Settings app under Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset.

How do I do an SCRTN?
For most mobile devices, you enter a code on your built-in dialer (as opposed to your TextNow dialer) on the dialer numberpad. The phone will reboot a couple of times as it resets your network connection and information. These codes will be slightly different depending on your device:

Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Moto G5 dial #*#*72786#*#*
Moto G4, Google Pixel, Essential dial *#*#72786#*#*
All other Android models dial ##72786#

also download LTE discovery to see what network Band are you in. If you are on Band 41 you should get the highest speed, from 30 to 140 mbps is what I have seen so far. if you are on other bands you should still have doable 3 to 20 mbps speed as well.

i am mostly on wifi and i can survive with a slow 3 mbps when i am out and about. Sprint has been a blessing for me, have saved a lot of money thru this free byod program. you just have to learn how do play their system. Sprint sim cards are paired to your particular phone so they are not swappable to your other devices ( like T Mobile, Verizon or AT&T sims.) you have to chat or call Sprint if you want to swap devices.

let me know if i can be of further help, Enjoy your Essential....and cheers to Essential 2 hopefully coming in the near future!
