I went to the nearest Sprint store and the sales person over there said that I could trade in my ATT iphone 7s and get the Sprint version of the Ipone 7s (pre-owned) and still use the BYOD $0 plan.. Is this information correct or was he trying to get me switched to Sprint then and there?

Thanks,

RB

Sprint service is really bad on my iPhone and I'm considering to transfer my number to Verizon. Sprint told me that I can't transfer out my number before a year! This is something I didn't pay attention to! What are my options?
This is false. There is no contract so you can port out your number at any time without any charges. You don't even need to interact with Sprint at all if you want to change carriers. Just tell Verizon that you're porting from Sprint. They'll probably need your Sprint account number and password to do so, but they will handle it from there.

If they lock it, you can call them to have it unlocked.

FYI, if you have a moto g6 play from boost nothing seems to show up anymore on swappa, I get no results on several. Makes no difference if locked or unlocked, looks like all of them are blacklisted or something.

Thanks but Isn't MetroPCS/Cricket going to cost me at least $80 per month (for 2 lines)? Is there any way I can trade my ATT iphone 7 for a compatible iphone?
Quote from freddiez :
If you don't mind the hassle of eBay/swappa you can buy Sprint compatible versions, then auction your ATT models later.
Some people loathe this idea because of the scammers on the Bay. Swappa is better in that regard.
Other option if you're interested in swapping to Android is LG G6 or Moto z2 force open box, or NIB, then auction off the iPhones later. Good luck
regarding ebay..my thoughts are opposite.
i have never been scammed on ebay
i have bought quite a few phones from reputable sellers.
infact ebay is quite buyer friendly (almost to a fault)

i wouldn't buy anything less than 9/10 condition.

the lg g6 can be had for ~150 in "excellent condition"
the lg g5 for around ~70

CL is also a good place to get phone

for example, i have a sprint samsung j3 emerge for sale at my local CL
it passes the eligibility test (i checked with my sisters V phone number)

phones from big sellers are mostly repaired or refurbished. So some parts like screens and batteries are not apple parts. Rather cheap copies.
They sell them as new other.

perhaps.

i have never bought apple device on ebay.
only android.
most listed as used.

edit:
first thing i check is refurbished status.
if yes, then i will typically send back or get a deeper discount.
used i dont mind.
refurbished to me means something may have been wrong and has been repaired

Not sure if you were trying to switch the sim with a leased phone or bought one outright. If it was a lease, I'm not sure how you did it. The system blocked changing the BYOD sim to a leased device.

Either way I am glad you were successful. I'm just warning other folks who had plans to switch to a newer (leased phone) part way through the year. Maybe there is some trick to it, but I was quite unsuccessful. I even contacted support after the fact and was told it was impossible to do.
Upgraded 2 essential phones with $5 lease deal, both phone are activated bought as an upgrade for the BYOD plan and activated on it.
Pay off the phone and unlocked both them after the first month, switched back to my samsung s8 after. Sold both essential for $300 profit.

Didn't do any trick. Really sorry you dont enjoy such a good deal,

No. You need to port in a number from a non-Sprint carrier. That's the main point of this promo. To get customers from other carriers. You can easily just get a T-Mobile sim card and get a new number from them. Then just port that number to Sprint with your eligible device. I did this for one of the lines on my free Sprint plan.

True regarding purchases. Never had a problem buying through eBay.
Selling used phones has been problematic though. Spoof bidders disappear after winning auction and non-payment. Claims that item not received, etc. Scammers are on the buy side.

Mantra throughout this thread has been to stay away from Sprint store unless you are simply purchasing a SIM card.
This deal is online only or through the dedicated phone number. Chances are you will walk out of store with paid plan.
Best to bring your phone, untethered in any way.
