What the heck difference does it make? I live in a high tax state. I'm paying $4.09 for the free service, so, I dunno, maybe that extra $1.19 really does affect someones lifestyle.
Haha.. Not that it matters.. Just was curious..

If curious do read the wiki. Almost every zip code in the US is listed.

Just be 100% certain the your IMEI or MEID will be 100% functional on the Sprint network. The online application may accept your IMEI, yet later you find out that it was a software error resulting in a lack of specific service. In my case, it was 6+ hours of being bounced around from service tech to network tech to advanced team with no resolution. Your alternative then becomes buying a new phone at full retail price or finding an alternative phone that WILL work on the Sprint network. Your best bet may be to visit a local corporate store prior to porting, just to be sure that your IMEI is 100% eligible.

What exact phone, model and carrier brand if applicable?

Also what exactly were the specific problems you ran into?

Most likely you just got an excuse. We may have a better explanation.

I havent seen the Online App accept an IMEI only to reject it later.

What does "100% eligible" mean ? An IMEI either is accepted for use on Sprint, or rejected. No in between.

I just did this today. Didnt want to spend $10 on sim shipping, went to the store and gotten one, $2.99 for 3-in-1 sim kit. Luckily you dont have buy a "special" sim to get this free promotion. And i sign up for the service over the phone, first rep asked where i found out about the promotion and responded as "from sprint's home page". And rep tells that it is targeted offer and even a sim purchase wouldnt go thru for me if i had done it. I was like whateva! Hung up and tried again. This time rep asked same question, so i responded this time that i learned it thru a friend. Then went on to application. And rather smooth process, though, rep was supposed to call me back the next day to complete a process, i bought the new sim due to one i already had wasn't completely deactivated yet, but he never did. Third call finalized the activation/account. Hopefully service wont be a too much problem for me!

"Eligible" may not be the right word. I think "compatible" might be better. There are phones that have some of the Sprint band frequencies, but not all. The phone would still work, but this would cause poor coverage and data performance for some people depending on the area.

Yes, phones without Band 41 but with Band 25/26.

But topchedda seemed to be talking about some other kind of issue. Like a phone that passed IMEI but then was disallowed by Sprint. Not just a phone that passed IMEI, got connected, but then had poor signal/coverage/performance b/c of no Band 41 capability.

Good luck. Just left Sprint for TM after 20 years with them. Perhaps it's my phone and area, but service has been horrible the past year or so. Dropped calls, calls not received, data constantly disconnects after a few minutes forcing a restart, slow data that's rarely LTE. Couldn't take it anymore so made the switch. So far very happy with new phones/service. Great LTE coverage and speeds.

Sounds like a no obligation promo so nothing to lose, but don't except much. You'll all be part of TM in a year or two anyway.

What phone make and exact model and original carrier was it so that we have some context?
