Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Is it possible to upgrade from the free gear plan to SWAC?
No.
Wait 45 days or use a different SSN.

In the wiki, there is a small section about having specific sims with sku numbers for specific unlocked phones. Not sure if that is outdated material as the article it references is older.

I have a T-Mobile unlocked S9+ and an old Sprint sim that I got a while ago. How can I verify if it works with my phone?
S9 needs a brand new model of sim ending in 506TQ so it will not work.

Also a random sim would have very little chance of working anyway. If you want to "try" various sims, Sprint reps will not put up with that because odds are so low and it wastes too much time and will just insist you buy a new one.

I have an old Sprint sim card from an old FreedomPop hotspot. Will that work for this?
No. You have to have a very specific sim out of about 30 different part numbers that applies to the specific model of phone you are activating.

$2.99 delivered for any sim from Twigby.

Seems the wiki is stating we can use other devices as well and not just listed or from ATT/Verizon only but also from T-mobile. Hope I read that correctly. I'm trying to activate LG G4 Verizon unit onto this plan but I'm actually using it on T-mobile at the time. The online checker asked for IMEI and Phone number but said it's not eligible. Is that because I put in T-mobile number? or is it because LG G4 is not eligible for this deal?
The Verizon model has the TMobile bands but not the Sprint bands.

See

https://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones...ic-Gray-g4

Needs bands 25, 26, 41 and voice band BC10 before Sprint would even consider approving it, which would not be automatic without testing and certification even if it did have those bands. This is not going to happen for a phone of this class where there is a specific Sprint branded model available.

Is there any difference between the 506TQ and the 406TQ sims for my application?

I just called a corporate store and they wanted to charge me $15 if I didn't want to have it activated in store. I guess YMMV depending on store.
I called the same store back and happened to get a different person that told me to come in for a free sim kit, which I did.

So my story matches with a lot of other's experiences now, along with getting different answers from different employees.

Awesome! I will be joining you guys soon on Sprint hopefully. Just checked on the Sprint website and the Imei passes now. It did not before. I am on Mint currently.

I will wait until 11/7 but get all my ducks in a row now to make sure it all goes smoothly. Thanks for the infoSmilie
Thanks for verifying the US carrier branded s9/+ are now in Sprint database. Hopefully the new firmware will be out by 11/7 like sprint lists in the device info BYOD instructions. Even if not, probably will be a workaround by flashing sprint firmware. As noted you need sim ending in 406TQ or 506TQ.

I too would be interested in knowing what the community thinks about this.

Here's my situation. I signed up around 9/10/17, so 9/10/18 would be my 1 year mark. My bill and dashboard both have the "savings until 9/30/18", so naturally I thought I'll be on the free plan until the end of September and then a prorated paid plan from 10/1/18-10/10/18. I chatted online to get a prorated bill for October only to be told that there isn't one. My free plan ended exactly one year after the first activated line. Here's that part of the chat.

rep. : Please know that we follow the 1 year promotions based on the time you have started the line service and the plan
rep. : Stated on 09/30 was the general expiration date on all the plans under this 1 year promotions, Means until 09/30 only was the promotion offer

On one hand it is "1 year free" and one year would be the following year after you activated, but then there's the "savings until" clause, which I assume for many people is a few weeks after their 1 year mark. What's everyone's interpretation of when your free plan actually ends?

I'm going to call Sprint when I have the time, but if what the rep said is true, the "savings until" date display online and on the bill is not the correct end date for the free plan.
The reps were wrong. If you ported out or cancelled on or before 10/9/18 you would not be charged for paid plan. Your statement on 10/10/18 should have been $0. If you didn't cancel by 10/9/18 you would have been charged full $60++ on 10/10/18 for service for 10/10 to 11-9 and would owe full amount as sprint doesn't prorate final month.
So you actually got 13 months free if you cancelled on 10/9/18. Some people getting up to 15 months free even without a port out/ port in renewal.

Hi,
May I ask, which phone model did you get via the "Essential Phone via upgrade" path?
Are there only specific phone models offered?

Thanks.
These are specific deals and BYOD accounts are eligible after 120 days. You'll see a purple Banner on your mySprint app stating eligibility to upgrade.
The essential phone mentioned was a year ago and long gone. The most recent was a moto Z2 Force for $120.
You will not be eligible for the frequent promotions directed at new customers. eg. LG V30+ $5 per month and others.
Set SD alert for Sprint phones. Another deal will come your way. Do be sure to stay out of Sprint store. Also don't push a deal through via normal telesales that you know you're not eligible for or you'll lose the BYOD. Some common sense goes a long way

does anyone know if you can pick up a sim card in the store and do the call the number or sprint requires you to have a number you're porting to if you want to purchase a sim card? I have no problem ordering it online.
Sprint does not require you to have a phone number to simply purchase a sim card in-store. However, you'll need to have a phone number to port in from a non-Sprint carrier in order to take advantage of the free year deal.
