Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I am enrolled into this promotion for the last one year and my current plan ends in January 2019. The current phone I am using has started giving me difficulty so I am thinking of transferring my sim to essential ph-1 phone. When called customer service, they said I can only use a sprint phone now. Is it true? If not, can somebody please help me how to move my sim to a new phone? Thanks.

You're right - same phone, same SSN (after 45 days), same sim, same number is fine.

However check your Account for your own exact expiry date: DeskTop - Manage Account/ See Details and you may find you got 13 or 14 months rather than 12 as they align to a fixed date further out for stretches of time rather than constantly recalculating 12 months day by day, to simplify their systems.
Thank you! You were right - I get the promotion until 1/31!

OK if you cannot reach the port department at that number you can reach them via TeleSales at the same number as before.

(edited)
It seems they goofed my port in yesterday. Even though I recieved an email from Sprint saying the Port was complete last night, they're saying my TMo number is now a Boost Prepaid number. My new sprint account shows no associated phone number, device nor any plan. Due to that they're saying I cannot get the free plan since my number is now a sprint associated company at Boost. Yikes. Still on the phone with them while they try. Called in to 866-782-8777 yesterday and today.

So an update, after about a 3 hour back and forth calling between porting and "care" departments. I was finally connected to someone at "escalation".
She was able to associate my number from the port to my new sprint account but then had to apply the Free BYOD plan which she wasn't able to do at first. After several holds, she apparently was able to apply the correct plan.
She asked me to wait 15 minutes before it will reflect the correct plan.
Here attached is what the sprint app shows for my plan now. Someone please tell me if it's finally right? Wink

Nice, thanks for all the help by you guys here and the hand holding over the past year. worship
Setup autopay for the $5 discount on the app. With all the issues from earlier, it seems that first rep was unable to apply the insurance plan. I just said yes to it yesterday, since the wiki said i can easily opt out later. I can't find any mention of it on my account.
Surprised it actually worked, I was sure by the previous reps I spoke with earlier, I hit a brick wall. Thought they wouldn't be able to apply the free plan any longer due to the number being a "boost prepaid". The key it seems to me was getting the 866 rep to help, they were most determined to make sure I get the free plan, while the two reps were speaking to each other.

First, you need to read the Wiki and learn. Also avoid asking sales reps technical questions.

Different phone capabilities require different sims period. You look up the sim required for your phones and get them.

You can NEVER use a wrong sim for the phone you are using.

You can NOT swap a sim to a different phone (worse yet one that needs a different sim) to move service.

HOWEVER you can swap phones easily. Chat tech support to do a device swap at any time after you are on. Each phone has to have the appropriate sim in it at all times.

You swap out phone1 with its sim1, and swap in phone2 with its own sim2. This takes 2 minutes.

For now, go get the iPhone 6s sim from an Apple store or elsewhere. Note different iPhone models require different sims.
<<You can NOT swap a sim to a different phone (worse yet one that needs a different sim) to move service>>
So I currently have the Sprint BYOD with a MotoG5SPlus that uses the SIMGLW416Q sim. I want to change to an Essential PH1 phone. The Essential needs the same SIMGLW416Q sim. You seem to be saying that I have to get another SIMGLW416Q for the Essential. I can't use the one in the Moto. No big deal if true. I just need confirmation . Thanks.

I currently don't have a contract with anyone. My phone is through someone else. However, it's with Sprint. So I don't have an account with Sprint myself. Will I qualify for this if I take a new phone and go to them?

You can use the same SIM for those two phones, but to "swap" phones you must have Sprint do it. I find it is easiest to swap via chat, they need ICCID (your old SIM) and the IMEI of new phone. They will have you shut off old phone, put old SIM into new phone, then they do their magic, then you can turn on the new phone and it will be fine.

You cannot just put the SIM from old phone into new phone without contacting Sprint for them to finalize the "swap".

Yes you can. If you need to keep your number, you must port it out of Sprint, then port it back in .
If you don't need to keep the number just get a new line from a competitor and port it into your new BYOD account. Read wiki for all details
