Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

so, unlocked Samsung Note 9, bought directly from Samsung works with Sprint on this plan, right? Anyone is using it? Thanks.
It is listed as supported and I know people using it so yes it does, of course (after all, by definition it works on all U.S. carriers).

Purchase unlocked iphone xr or xs from apple store and request sprint SIM from them. Will that work with year of free service or do I need different SIM.
Sure it will work.
Sprint sims are Sprint sims regardless of who gives or sells them to you.

What do you mean by the "ineligible list"?

There are only eligible lists. Phones on any of those lists can work but there can be issues, model variations etc. so check the imei if possible unless the origin/suitability of the phone is very clear.

Also flags that were previously on mvno's often require resetting the mvno flag.

Also avoid Boost/Sprint prepaid models usually.

<<You can NOT swap a sim to a different phone (worse yet one that needs a different sim) to move service>>
So I currently have the Sprint BYOD with a MotoG5SPlus that uses the SIMGLW416Q sim. I want to change to an Essential PH1 phone. The Essential needs the same SIMGLW416Q sim. You seem to be saying that I have to get another SIMGLW416Q for the Essential. I can't use the one in the Moto. No big deal if true. I just need confirmation . Thanks.
Quote from ECartman :
You can use the same SIM for those two phones, but to "swap" phones you must have Sprint do it. I find it is easiest to swap via chat, they need ICCID (your old SIM) and the IMEI of new phone. They will have you shut off old phone, put old SIM into new phone, then they do their magic, then you can turn on the new phone and it will be fine.

You cannot just put the SIM from old phone into new phone without contacting Sprint for them to finalize the "swap".
Yes right! In that particular case you can because the two phones happen to use the same sim part number but as ECartman notes, you are just activating the new phone directly with Sprint with a sim that happens to have been used somewhere/anywhere else in the past. You are not transferring service by moving the sim as such or making any use of the fact that this sim was in use on this line or in your account.

Awesome! I will be joining you guys soon on Sprint hopefully. Just checked on the Sprint website and the Imei passes now. It did not before. I am on Mint currently.

I will wait until 11/7 but get all my ducks in a row now to make sure it all goes smoothly. Thanks for the infoSmilie
Quote from edog11 :
Thanks for verifying the US carrier branded s9/+ are now in Sprint database. Hopefully the new firmware will be out by 11/7 like sprint lists in the device info BYOD instructions. Even if not, probably will be a workaround by flashing sprint firmware. As noted you need sim ending in 406TQ or 506TQ.
Hey Edog, do you have any thoughts on how to tell if my phone has the update or how to verify if it has been updated after 11/7? Kind of worried that Sprint says 11/7 but my provider, Mintsim, may be on a different schedule. Kind of on a tight schedule as my service ends on 11/14 so I want to get started with Sprint as soon as I can.

Thinking I should call Sprint for this but trying to avoid talking to them before it is time.

Sprint retail support staff of all types have demonstrated in the past that they have no understanding of this type of rom-level issue so you can save time and confusion by not asking them any questions.

Try getting a Sprint sim and inserting it and see of the phone switches to Sprint logo etc. (give it a couple of minutes). I have done this on my S8 frequently to switch carriers. Until you have brand switching, or if the phone is locked, it will just say "invalid sim".

However I cannot recall for sure if that works even before signing up with Sprint. I think it would though. Then just insert the tmo sim back in to switch back.

Also you can apply updates using Samsung Smart Switch from a PC independent of carrier.

I think you are worrying needlessly though. What you are worrying about has never been a problem. In my opinion they would not have enabled the imei's until Samsung gave then the go-ahead that the original target date had already been bettered ahead of schedule. That is what has been the case in the past with S8, then Note 8, etc. That is what everybody else in the past had gone by with no problem. In other words, it is ready now in my opinion.

I too would be interested in knowing what the community thinks about this.

Here's my situation. I signed up around 9/10/17, so 9/10/18 would be my 1 year mark. My bill and dashboard both have the "savings until 9/30/18", so naturally I thought I'll be on the free plan until the end of September and then a prorated paid plan from 10/1/18-10/10/18. I chatted online to get a prorated bill for October only to be told that there isn't one. My free plan ended exactly one year after the first activated line. Here's that part of the chat.

rep. : Please know that we follow the 1 year promotions based on the time you have started the line service and the plan
rep. : Stated on 09/30 was the general expiration date on all the plans under this 1 year promotions, Means until 09/30 only was the promotion offer

On one hand it is "1 year free" and one year would be the following year after you activated, but then there's the "savings until" clause, which I assume for many people is a few weeks after their 1 year mark. What's everyone's interpretation of when your free plan actually ends?

I'm going to call Sprint when I have the time, but if what the rep said is true, the "savings until" date display online and on the bill is not the correct end date for the free plan.
I started on October on oct 16 and bill runs to November 16 but my free year ends November 30th 2019. The agent on the phone mentioned it too saying I actually get more than a year.

Thanks guys, tried edogg11's suggestions earlier and just now again with no success. Says service update failed. I've restarted my phone, reset network settings, and update carrier settings as well. I had no apn profile.
It looks like I have bars/lte consistently now, all day it wasn't showing up until earlier tonight. Phone still shows a message "iPhone is not activated"
According to that chat rep, my account hasn't been activated yet. He said to contact porting tomorrow even though got a successful port email from Sprint.
I've been trying to sign up with sprint, but when I enter my phone number on the registration page, it says "Device is not active or cancelled." They sent me an ebill confirmation email with the last 4 digits of my account number.
Should I stay away from their porting center? Or call any specific number?
I had to factory reset my iPhone 6 before it would work on sprint then restore from iCloud back up. Some software issue from when it was on T-Mobile no other resets worked only. I would get data and signal bars for a min then no service. After reset it was perfect all I had to do was delete the apn profiles after the back up restore and it works perfectly now.

I have a physical tmo sim card number (don't remember where I placed the card), when I checked on tmo website pay as you go, both phone IMEI and sim card number are good to go. my question is that do I need the physical card in my phone to receive the confirmation code or something else in order to port in?

When I ported to T-Mobile without a physical sim, I asked for an email to confirm the port. I did this when porting with an agent on the phone.
