Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Did the agent want you to deposit $10? The tmo website only charges $3.
I told them that I did not yet have my device in-hand and would add credit to my account online when I did. They didn't charge me anything. I said that because I only had a Sprint compatible phone so the IMEI I gave them would show it was not compatible. It didn't matter anyway because once I was notified that the port to T-Mobile was complete (waited about an hour), I ported the number to Sprint for the free year.

Thanks a lot. I will give it a try tomorrow.

Hey Edog, do you have any thoughts on how to tell if my phone has the update or how to verify if it has been updated after 11/7? Kind of worried that Sprint says 11/7 but my provider, Mintsim, may be on a different schedule. Kind of on a tight schedule as my service ends on 11/14 so I want to get started with Sprint as soon as I can.

Thinking I should call Sprint for this but trying to avoid talking to them before it is time.
I don't have any information on updates except from what was listed on device info from sprint.
"Software doesn't push until 11/7/18". I wouldn't hold sprint or samsung to this date. Also since you have t-mobile device the update would need to come through them.

When I looked through reddit and xda a few days ago and I didn't see any mention of it. I think it would be kind of a big deal and would have been mentioned if had been released.
I think the tmobile firmware only has lte band 25,26 from sprint enabled but not sure if cdma enabled.
Hopefully the brand switching is already released like comintel says.
If not you may have to flash sprint or unlocked firmware to your phone, if this is possible.
I don't think you should wait much longer since free plan could end anytime(and your mintsim),

I can't really help since I don't have Samsung S9.
Some suggestions
1-Keep checking samsung smartswitch and phone for updates.
2-Post question on reddit( sprint or S9 group) or xda(be careful on xda since they deal with international versions also).
List your model number US carrier branded S9+ SM-G965U tmobile, and explain your imei is passing sprint checker
and is listed in Sprint sim card device info list with software update coming supposedly 11/7/18 and you will be signing up for Sprint.
-Ask if there is any info on this update or if someone has a 2nd carrier active sim card they could try to see if the switching software is working.
-Ask if possible to enable sprint lte bands(25,26,41) and cdma without flashing and have it work on Sprint.( This may allow signup and service with sprint, but not sure if this would be possible)
-Ask if it is possible and or for instructions to flash(probably using ODIN software) to Sprint or unbranded/unlocked firmware to your device. If you do flash to unbranded temporarily you would need to flash back to carrier branded to get carrier switching.
-Ask about caveats of trying this. Not sure about on S9 but main caveat was just making sure you are flashing firmware with same bootloader versions since you can't go back to lower bootloader versions.
There is probably other restrictions I'm sure. It is pretty hard to mess up a device since Samsung bootloaders are locked.

I hope the firmware is released soon or like comintel says already has been released.
Hopefully some other SD'ers can chime in since there have been several good threads on S9 deals(maybe ask in one of those threads). So there should be many SD'ers using them.
Good luck.

Looks like a sim kit. Probably something they had to enter when getting you switched over to the correct plan. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, actually just as I was replying, my phone rang from sprint.
It indeed was exactly that and the "$19 insurance plan" that was originally offered to me. He asked if I still wanted them since it was pending, said no to both and that was it.

Hello All, I have ATT S9 plus unlocked, when I put in my imsi ph # it says eligible but when I try to continue and order the sim I get the following error

There has been a connection error. Please refresh or try again later.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? I tried this several times over the course of 4 days and get the same error.

Just re-signed up for Sprint BYOD - after 45+ days and effectively renewed for another 12 months free. Sprint did rerun my credit report to check everything.

Now waiting to activate and reusing an old Sp[int nano-sim with a Pixel 2 from Walmart deal.

Thank you.

Sprint retail support staff of all types have demonstrated in the past that they have no understanding of this type of rom-level issue so you can save time and confusion by not asking them any questions.

Try getting a Sprint sim and inserting it and see of the phone switches to Sprint logo etc. (give it a couple of minutes). I have done this on my S8 frequently to switch carriers. Until you have brand switching, or if the phone is locked, it will just say "invalid sim".

However I cannot recall for sure if that works even before signing up with Sprint. I think it would though. Then just insert the tmo sim back in to switch back.

Also you can apply updates using Samsung Smart Switch from a PC independent of carrier.

I think you are worrying needlessly though. What you are worrying about has never been a problem. In my opinion they would not have enabled the imei's until Samsung gave then the go-ahead that the original target date had already been bettered ahead of schedule. That is what has been the case in the past with S8, then Note 8, etc. That is what everybody else in the past had gone by with no problem. In other words, it is ready now in my opinion.
Thank you for the response. I was actually referring to wiki, which also has "Expired eligible list of phones" which has most of the phones listed in eligible list above it

I had a Sprint Note5 on BYOD for my first year. Not sure about your unlocked model.
