Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Anyone knows if it will accept ATT prepaid phone # for porting?

Or if the first line is successfully ported from a postpaid account, can the second one be ported over from ATT prepaid?
All non-Sprint carriers, mvnos, voip providers, landline operators are fine. Prepaid carriers are fine. (See wiki).

My free year is up and I thought I was for sure going to cancel but now I might stay around for a while. For me with 2 lines , it is now $50 a month and it now includes 50gb of hotspot per line. However it is considered a bring your own phone plan so any phone promotions does not apply to the plan. If you are in an area that Sprint works good and interested in unlimited data and 50g of hotspot this plan is hard to beat.

Just for information purposes for the benefit of others who might like that offer also, is that a special offer you got from the Retentions Department?

In other words, where/how did you obtain that offer? Maybe after calling them to cancel? Or did they call you?

My plan still says: "Savings until 04/30/19 ; then $60/mo. for line 1, $40/mo. for line 2 and $30/mo./line for lines 3-5 with AutoPay." But maybe it would match yours if it were expiring now?

Also just fyi you can sign up for another free year after either 45 days off Sprint or if you have another family member SSN that can sign up (as long as the free is still available).

Thanks

Keep in mind that Sprint automatically locks your phone to their network (even though you own the phone outright) for a minimum of 50 days.

If you plan to leave Sprint, you need to submit an unlock request through them prior to porting your phone to a different network - this can take 3-5 business days.

Plan accordingly!

I am aware that I can sign up for another free year, but from my understanding it would not include moble hotspot and I need hotspot.

I was actually calling to verify that my phone was unlocked because it was on the Sprint network for over 50 days, and I had planned on calling back the following week to cancel. But the rep just informed me before I hung up that my free year was up and that I would be automatically switched to the the $50 bring your own phone plan (both lines included). At the time it was only 10 gb of hotspot data , but it was increased to 50 gb this week with all the other unlimited plans. Also I have no idea what 1,2 or 4 lines would be as I had no reason to ask. I still may cancel considering Sprint data usually is very unreliable outside of big cities, but you sure do get a lot for $50.

Very interesting! Thanks!

Not everybody knows this, but the unlock department is the retentions department. They are one and the same thing. When people call to ask about unlocks because they are leaving, this allows Sprint to intercept them and channel them to special retention offers, which they did in your case in my opinion!

So there is a tip for people trying to coax out the hidden retention offer! To those people, don't ask about the the offer directly, ask coyly about unlocks because you are "going to be leaving"! And there is the hidden retention offer, $25 per line (as long as you act hard to get).

As to your data issue, just fyi, with the right phone, Sprint now roams on TMobile, free and unlimited, which is making it a lot better now.

If all you did so far was purchase a Sprint sim, Note 1 in the wiki says to call 866-782-8777 when you receive it. Sprint will port your number from AT&T and activate your sim. I did it this way and had no problems. Just make sure you have all of your AT&T account information and password in hand along with the Sprint sim and phone.
Thank you. I asked the same question in the Sprint subreddit and they all said to use the website and don't have to call in. So, I am quite confused. LOL

Let's say I want to leave after a week because Sprint's service is shitty where I live. Do I still have to wait 50 days for an unlock request?

Maybe so if you are a phone flipper who just bought a Sprint phone on a special deal that required a 2 year lease, but really intended to sell it immediately, did not satisfy the full lease, want to flip it, etc. It mainly affects a tiny number of people in special circumstances like that. Otherwise, don't worry about it usually.

To begin with, Sprint only locks certain Sprint-branded phones in certain circumstances where it thinks they should be locked in the first place.

It is hard to tell what is really going on in these cases, and anyone please correct me with a better perspective if they have it.

I see, thank you. It didn't make sense why they would lock my phone if it's paid off and comes into sprint as unlocked.

However, it is only $96 direct from Sprint

https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/ce...an=1100264 [sprint.com]

so maybe they are not drawing a distinction.
Sprint added $36 activation fee to the $96, making it $132 and I had to wait for shipping. I could not find a way to get the activation fee waived. I asked Sprint and they said $36 for all phones.

This is totally FALSE, SPRINT never locked any of my phones which unlocked before I swap in Sprint network,

Here is a list of unlocked phones I previous used on Sprint and is unlocked
IPhone 6S (Unlocked from Verizon)
LG G6 (Unlocked from Sprint)
iPhone SE (Unlocked from Sprint)
Samsung s8 (unlocked from Samsung)
Samsung s9 (Unlocked from Samsung)
Essential (Unlocked from Sprint)

I regular swap sim to test mobile app on Phone so I do swap Sprint sim with ATT/Cricket and never has problem.. Where do you get your info?
