Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Sprint added $36 activation fee to the $96, making it $132 and I had to wait for shipping. I could not find a way to get the activation fee waived. I asked Sprint and they said $36 for all phones.
Oh that's terrible. To start with the activation fee was dropped from $36 to $30 several years ago.

From https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/of...:1yearfree

"No annual contracts, no activation fees - a $30 savings!"

I hope you ordered the plan (or the addition to the plan) and the phone at the same time and that you ordered from TeleSales at the number ending in 8777? That is what I had in mind when I suggested it. If not I would cancel it and start over. If you buy it with the plan you have a lot stronger case.

You could call back and point that out to them and tell them you will RMA it unless they credit back the charge. Note do NOT open the box until this is all sorted out or there is a restocking fee.

Note that they may say first that they will credit it against the activation fee they would otherwise charge which is unacceptable of course because there is no activation fee.

You have to play hardball with these people or they will rip you off.

Still, that's about the same as the BestBuy price anyway.

I think when you order a phone from Sprint they always charge activation/upgrade fee, sometime they have promotion that credit back the fee after 2-3 billing cycle. That's nothing to do with hard ball or anything

Have you even order a phone recently from Sprint before dishing out your advice?

I am just dishing out my advice like you. What's wrong with that? He was following up quoting me and I am entitled to respond to it.

It is not dependent on what Sprint usually does and I do not care what they usually do. It depends on what they have promised to do in writing.

The promotion says "no activation fee" and that is their written promise which they have to live up to. That means something to me, if not to you. Yes it says credited over 2 or 3 billing cycles which would be absolutely acceptable, wouldn't it?. He just needs to firm that up.

I honestly do not think he will/would even have much trouble getting it credited. I have found they give out credits quire readily.

Obviously he can just pay it if he wants. It is not as if I had a hidden agenda or some such. I am just trying to give him some arguments if he wants to fight it (which I would). It is in his favor. I believe in proactive consumerism. If someone else does not, that's their business.

Thank you. I asked the same question in the Sprint subreddit and they all said to use the website and don't have to call in. So, I am quite confused. LOL
Calling is the way I and many other people have done it with little to no problems. You can use the website, but if there is an issue, you'll likely have to call someone anyway. Why not just speak directly to a representative from the beginning who can tackle any issues the moment they arise?

It's because I'm busy from 9AM to 8 or later PM so I don't know if they'll be open when I'm done.

Keep in mind that you may be on the phone for at least an hour upon the initial setup of your account and your first line. adding additional lines on to the account didn't take that long, though.

I ordered a Moto Z2 Force from Sprint as an upgrade. Paid the full price, $120.

It was clearly advertised on the ordering page that the upgrade/activation fee would be waived. Not sure which of those it said, it's been a couple of months.

In any case I got charged $30. Called them up and a supervisor refunded it to my account immediately. So I never actually paid any fee.

Enjoy the dish. Wink

Keep in mind that Sprint automatically locks your phone to their network (even though you own the phone outright) for a minimum of 50 days.

If you plan to leave Sprint, you need to submit an unlock request through them prior to porting your phone to a different network - this can take 3-5 business days.

Plan accordingly!
Quote from keung :
This is totally FALSE, SPRINT never locked any of my phones which unlocked before I swap in Sprint network,

Here is a list of unlocked phones I previous used on Sprint and is unlocked
IPhone 6S (Unlocked from Verizon)
LG G6 (Unlocked from Sprint)
iPhone SE (Unlocked from Sprint)
Samsung s8 (unlocked from Samsung)
Samsung s9 (Unlocked from Samsung)
Essential (Unlocked from Sprint)

I regular swap sim to test mobile app on Phone so I do swap Sprint sim with ATT/Cricket and never has problem.. Where do you get your info?
I believe he's talking about something else. He's talking about a new phone that's never been activated. Even if purchased for full price it does get locked to Sprint for 50 days.

It's not false - at least in my case. They did it to me. I bought an iPhone 8 outright and had it completely unlocked. Then when I went to switch after the free 1-year, they told me that they locked my phone to Sprint and I needed to submit a request. It was total BS.

when I did it it took about 20 minutes. You have to go through a credit check/identity check, which requires a different department get on the line.
