No I mean buy from sprint. Close the sprint account. Keep the phone. I currently have T-Mobile so then port from T-Mobile to Sprint with the new phone.

It would work since you are going from sprint to sprint, but why dont you just buy verizon phone deals, pay off, cancel, and use on sprint?

Unfortunately the Verizon deal for the S9+ is a bill credit not instant savings. You have to stay with Verizon for it to work.

It's 500 bucks with my EDU discount. So the plan is have a friend open an account under his name. Purchase the phone. Pay it off. Close the account. Then I port my number from T-Mobile to a new Sprint account under my own name with the new Galaxy S9+.

I think everything should go smoothly.

He doesn't care at all he's balling out of control and has pristine credit. Think I'm good to go otherwise?

You cannot do that in my opinion and keep the discount. Do you think Sprint is that stupid? They will lock the phone.

if you get the discount from the start and there is no terms of conditions that REQUIRES him to stay for x days, yes you are good. you just have to make sure your friend cancel his account before you use the phone. btw where is the deal from? link?

also Verizon deal at walmart is $300 GC up front, no monthly credit.

he is going from sprint to sprint with a paid off phone, the lock wont matter, unless there is some term or conditions that will result the phone being blacklisted

The deal will be like this:

"Galaxy S9+ for $10/mo. after $28.00/mo. credit, applied within two bills. With approved credit, 18-month lease, new line of service. Credit suspends after 18-month lease. If you cancel early, remaining balance due."

If he cancels early, the entire balance will be due WITHOUT BENEFIT OF THE CREDIT.

At least I think so.

I could be wrong.

Just be careful, that's all.
Others here know better than I do.

In my opinion you cannot pay off the phone at the lower price because if you pay it off early, you have to pay the full price. For flexlease, that would be sum of all payments due plus the purchase option price. The question is, what would that be. If the discount is in the form of "credits," are they applied if you pay off early? I suspect not.

I agree it does not need to be unlocked but I am afraid they could might refuse to let the new owner activate it until it was not fully paid for.

In my opinion.

I could be wrong.

He should just be careful.
