Wow thanks Comintel, very informative refs. Yes up and about for now with 506TQ. But not very clear on what "issues" others have experienced w/506TQ or how to detect them (unless call drop low speed etc obvious ones). Mainly as I have not ventured out of Wifi as much yet since swap to sprint as home signals are a bit under compared to a bit away from home that are excellent to test out more.

Will probably stop by at the corporate store for 4-in-1 with 516TQ -- hopefully they are also $3 range as were 3-in-1
Yes should be $2.99 I believe.

Or maybe they will give you the specific sim since you already paid elsewhere for a kit.

If you do get a new sim, swap it yourself and do not let the store do it as they may wreck your free plan (stores cannot access the free plan). You can swap the sim through your dashboard or by chat.

Has anybody else noticed declining service? On my daily commute I now experience long patches of no (data, at least, dont try phone during those times) service at all. This is new, while the network was never amazing, it usually at least worked in the city...

I've wondered if the impending T-Mobile merger has just caused Sprint to give up even trying anymore, or something...

It's gotten so bad I wonder if my APN settings are incorrect (although I believe they autoset initially so they should be fine). I've just been to lazy to google them up.

Given that and the inability to easily switch phones and inability to use GSM phones walling me off from many phones, and being a phone nerd, has combined had me almost counting the days til I can get back on Cricket in March (when my free year ends), or even lightly considering dropping Sprint before the free year is up.

All that said another Q, initially I noticed something in the TOS that if you used over 100MB of roaming data they could terminate your contract. Figuring they'd use any excuse to terminate freebie customers. and knowing 100mb of data can be used in a blink, I've simply turned off roaming since I've been on the free sprint. Which of course hurts my service all those times it wants to roam and could be some of the reason for the poor network performance. Was I correct to turn roaming off or was I overly cautious and cost myself a better experience?
You're on the right track.

They have moved some service for eligible phones to free unlimited TMobile roaming that does not affect your quota.

So you need to enable roaming.

It will never hurt to leave it enabled. If you go over the quota for other forms of roaming, they just cut off the roaming, nothing more.

You can look at your roaming totals occasionally - they will not change for free TMobile roaming.

Yes you certainly can.
The offer requires porting in a phone number, but you can activate any compatible phone from a different source if you want.
I suggest checking out the Wiki by the way.

Have you read the wiki? You can swap through the dashboard or by chat. Sim chart in wiki.

Unless you are quoting from your own particular plan, that 9/30/2019 date is just an example at the time that post was made a long time ago. It really means whatever date is a year plus from the day you sign up. See wiki.

If you quoting from your own particular plan, yes port out by then as Rolanda notes.
I am not on plan at this time. So, not sure what I read.

Any idea when this promotion will end? I currently own no phones that would work, but will I have time to order a cheap one online and then sign up with sprint?

Xfinity locks-down for about 2 months.
We successfully ported 3 product RED iPhones from Xfinity Mobile to this BYOD.

Does your phone have the proper bands & will it be whitelisted by Sprint?

We were in the same boat as you until we requested unlock, saying we were going to Europe using Vodafone sim cards (which we do occasionally).
When we got the iTunes unlock notification email from Xfinity, I re-entered the IMEI's in the Sprint Checker & they all we're good to go.

What I just read online says you pay nothing until 9/30/19. Then, $60 per month. So, cancel on 9/30/19??
You should read the wiki. If you're contemplating on getting this deal, the wiki will make it extremely simpler. To start off, the plan is noted as free b/c $5 is waived when enrolled in auto pay and e-bill. However, you'll still need to pay some admin fees and taxes. ~$4 seems to be the approx final bill Nationwide.

My current phone is not one of the eligible devices, I checked the IMEI on Sprint's website. I'm contemplating buying an iPhone XR from an Apple store (nobody seems to have a better offer right now.) The eligible device list for this offer does not include the XR; the link in the wiki to Sprint forums says the new iPhones including XR are eligible for Sprint BYOD.

Will Sprint allow me to port an eligible number from my old phone, to a new XR?

Yes it will. You are required to port in a number, not a phone, so you can use a brand new phone.

The XR is included in the current Sprint list as you note (the older lists are obsolete and no longer present on any Sprint site - they are inaccurate and incomplete now but do show the evolution of the offer over time).

That's what I thought. Those are old posts. The current end of savings date if you sign up today is 1/31/2020. Just port out on that date (or anytime before if you want).
