Note 1B: Most experts here advise to get this plan over phone and NOT online. Several reasons: (no activation fee, and any issues that come up will be addressed right then there). If u do online, there will be a activation fee (which may be credited after 2 months).
Call the dedicated # 866-782-8777 . the folks there are the ones that can help u. In some cases, the calls get routed to a different dept which may not access to this promo. So we advised to start the conversation with something like "i want the free i year promotion. can u help me with that". if the answer is not a emphatic yes ...then it is suggested u hang up and call again (huca)

I thought I read the Wiki enough times, and I did get through with everything almost. But when I was on the phone, I started looking around for what to exactly ask for and didn't see the terms, so a script like this is SUPER helpful, and I think it'd be great to add to the wiki!

I'd also suggest possibly rearranging the text of the wiki, so that it walks through each step and then explains the exact script with all details to have with you first, all in one place, and then goes on to explain all the other options like how to get a free second year etc. A

Also info that the "free" plan will cost whatever the SIM costs (probably $12.99 per phone at most), and also taxes and fees, ranging from around $3-$8 a month. And further notes below, to explain more exactly what the plan covers (I have questions about roaming, and about what deprioritization means, regarding the times and data limits)

Something like
1. Check device eligibility (Link)
2. Obtain your SIM (further instructions listed below, including using a SIM you already have, getting one through Apple Store, ordering through Amazon etc)
3. Gather your details including number to be ported, account info and PIN, ICCID number(s) from SIM(s), and IMEI number(s) from phone(s).
4. Call (866 number) and ask if they can help you with the free year BYOD promotion. If yes, go on, if no hang up.
5. They may try to force you into the insurance plan. Try to say no, otherwise instructions for how to cancel it.

That would have helped me, and *might* help some other people with less patience and greater reading comprehension issues?

Did a rinse and repeat for another 12 months, all went smooth. asked if i had a previous sprint account and i said yes, credit dept asked me for pin/and or secret question on the old account and that was it, she was able to pull up the old account and delete it and put a fresh one in. all in all took maybe 30 minutes.

Good points, especially #1. And actually Desi has just addressed #2 and #4. #5 is in a wiki note already. #3 is further down in the wiki.

Great feedback though. Thanks for your input.

added to wiki before i posted.
note 1b

regarding your other suggestion.
the wiki has information in the "notes" sections that is applicable to most everyone.
for the rest, each will have their own unique situation.
like no best buy around me or no apple store etc...

lastly, the wiki can be edited by anyone....even u can "clean it up"
feel free to make changes as u wish

would just request u not "mess" with the "notes" section
