Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I told the Sprint rep what I was trying to do in a private message. He has the IMEI and phone number.
This is his response. I don't know why he is telling me my phone is active on another acct. What does that mean? I have it on Total Wireless now. What does he mean by 'another acct'? Why is he telling me to contact the seller to unlock it. It is supposed to be an unlocked phone.

This is what he said:

This phone is showing as active on another account which means we are unable to add it to our network at the time. You will need to contact the seller and have them deactivate it on their account and then unlock it. It hasn't been reported lost or stolen which is great news and it is currently not on the Sprint network. Hopefully you can get this fixed and then we'll be happy to get you over here.

Also as a side note: when you use those smaller networks like Total Wireless they pick up any left over spectrum and sometimes that will show up as Sprint or AT&T, etc data.
Oh well at least he did look into it.

I think he is saying the IMEI is listed on another Sprint account.

That being the case, frankly I would give up because you do not need this necessarily anyway and you will not be able to identify that account which would be from the time of the prior owner (or else the IMEI was stolen and used for another purpose while he was trying to sell it) and the prior owner is going to just deny it.

Obviously you are welcome to try routes others have suggested if you have the time and inclination although my guess is you would get the same result.

This guy did want me to use several different IMEIs while I had issues with the phone and I thought that odd wondering where is he getting these IMEIs.

I'm tempted to dispute the phone in Paypal.

Thanks again. I will do some research to see if some way to know for sure if phone unlocked. If not unlocked, I will file dispute for sure.

Update: Sprint guy wrote me back. I guess he misunderstood me. This is his message:

Ahhh gotcha. I misunderstood that you already had the phone in service. Okay so I'm going to have to send you to a store to fix this issue. They can port your current number over to the Sprint network and get you all set up that way. When they do that the error message will go away and all should be good to go. Sorry I have to send you into a store but that's the only way it can be fixed. Hope it all goes smoothly from here!

I purchased a new DuraXT in a factory sealed box 5 years ago from eBay.

Sprint claims it was "stolen" & will never be activated on any post or prepaid plan.

My dad's fav phone, it continues to work flawlessly on a Sprint MVNO to this day with a $9/mo plan.
It probably was stolen then. MVNO's may not care but Sprint does. Sprint allows its MVNO's to use laxer standards than it uses for its own retail customers.

I have a DuraXT that activated fine on this plan. If you want you can buy one on EBay for $10-$13 that is not stolen. Look for a reputable seller that will guarantee it will activate on Sprint Postpaid.. There are plenty of them.

LTE is so sloow? can do Volte? what's the point?
VoLTE goes over special reserved paths and lanes that have guaranteed QOS.
Inferior VOIP is strictly best efforts and would have the problems you indicate.

However VoLTE is far from everywhere. It is rolling out area by area and will not cover the entire service area until mid 2019.

Well I am not sure whether or not he understands the situation even now.

Also stores are generally not allowed to deal with the free plan and we are not able to use their services and keep the free plan with some exceptions. Theoretically a Corporate owned store (only) could deal with the phone alone (without touching the plan) but it starts to get pretty complicated. You are welcome to try it if you want but it could be a waste of time. I do not see any harm in it if you have the time.

Sprint gurus, need one advice. I have the free plan with one line. My phone recently went kaput (won't turn on), so I got a new phone. I want to swap the device on my account, but I'm not able to login online (it is asking to send a code to my phone, which died). What are my options? Do I need to go to a store?

I already received a SIM and put it into phone, however it says Invalid SIM card.
Called sprint and they cannot find my account (already spent half an hour on the phone).
Customer service is asking for my SSN even though they already have it since it asks for SSN and DOB online (I did it online).
Is there a way I can create my account online so that I don't have to tell them SSN by phone?
Horrible service btw
The phone is brand new. When I ordered online everything went well, including credit check
This is from the wiki:

ORDER / ACTIVATION:
To get the free service and activate online you need to click the free year promotion link https://www.sprint.com/1yearfree, check your eligibility and order a SIM card there. Once you receive the SIM you MUST activate it online here at this link- https://sprint.com/activatenow [sprint.com]

You should have received an email from sprint. Look for it as it may contain more information. Whatever you submitted online must match the phone and sim that was ordered for it.

lol, I don't even understand what the heck this error is. I just told him I'd like to get the free Sprint plan but need the MVNO flag removed from my acct. I told him I've never been on Sprint and that the previous owner says he has never been on Sprint but somehow have this error. I asked him if he could remove it.

Sure I have plenty of time now to do the research since phone is resting over at Total Wireless. I will check out this post and try that:
https://slickdeals.net/f/10235008-sprint-byod-1-year-unlimited-talk-text-data-free-w-eligible-device-sim-req?v=1&p=122921395#post122921395

And next time I'm in town, I'll stop by a Sprint store and see what they say about the flag and ask if they can remove. Can't learn if you give up and don't try. I really just need to start from the beginning and read this whole thread. Maybe that would help. Thanks.
