Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Couple of points of clarification: my phone is Apple unlocked XS I bought directly from Apple, so not locked to a specific carrier. For my phone, updating the carrier settings will not lock the phone to Sprint and tbh, I think that is the case for all unlocked phones in general.

The initial cities for the rollout are: 15 markets include Atlanta-Athens, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas, Missouri, New York City, Oregon-West Washington, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco Bay, South Bay, Southern Jersey, and Washington, D.C. (Source: https://www.androidauthority.com/...ut-910085/).
i wanted to get a an unlocked ip xs today.
the assistant manger insisted i get the sprint version, because they had been reported to have problems with the unlocked version being able to activate with Sprint.

i told him i would get unlocked version and he should give me the right sim card.
he told me if u want the unlocked version, then it would be up to me to figure out how to get it activated on S.

i caved in because i dont know much about iPhone and difference in bands etc of the different variants of iphone xs, and which exact sim card is needed.

did i get bamboozled?
i still havent opened it.
what do experts think...

should i get he unlocked version? with sim Part SIMOLW516TQ

edt: th manageer did mention the Sprint sim card comes inside the phone with S variant so it should work

I saw people activate the Moto e5 play from Boost.
What about the Moto e5 play unlocked from Best Buy? It is not on the list of supported devices but I saw people successfully use the Boost Mobile version.

I need a phone around $100ish for my Mom.
Thanks!

similar answer..if u get a phone that u can easily return if is not eligible..then..

start with first checking if the phones are eligible.
to do that , dont open the phones. but locate the imei # on box.
then use a friends cell phone number that u know is not on sprint family of carriers

go to eligibility checker and input this inf
all u r doing is checking if the phone is ok

if that gives u congratulations notice

Thanks, that is my plan as of right now. I was just hoping to find a definite it worked/didn't work before I drive an hour to go pick up the phone.
Her indecisiveness is driving me insane and I want to get our other two lines ported before I have to pay Verizon any more money!

I bought the phone from Apple and got the sim card from a Sprint Corporate store. The only disadvantage of the fully unlocked version is that there is one band that can hurt your service quality that is not included in it. I have had this phone and free plan for over 3 months without issues. If you are going to drop the coin, get the unlocked (or Verizon version, which is unlocked as well by default)... at least you can switch comfortably later on.

Desi gave you how to test which is good.

However, Boost phones are mostly being rejected now. I doubt it would be accepted.

LG Tribute Dynasty is just under $100 and gives you all Sprint features.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/LG-Tri.../942528012

Or Best Buy and get them to price match.

You need to avoid the cheaper Boost version which again is unlikely to be accepted.

BE VERY CAREFUL it is NOT the Boost version..

We have 9 new iphones, 4 xs max and 5 xr, all unlocked from Apple is the only way to go. All have 416TQ sim from store, never a problem. These new iPhones work fantastic on this plan, VoLTE is the Shi&, the best phones we have ever had. Keep in mind, there is only one model of each series that is sold in the USA. Check Apple website if you have doubts.

BTW, I would skip the XS and either do the XR or XS Max.............................

The XR is the BANG for the buck!

After putting me on hold a bunch of times, trying desperately to keep me, even though I insisted I have no interest in retention offers, I just wish to cancel , she disconnects me, after about 30 minutes. They offered my Magic Sprint device, Sprint Drive etc.

Updated...
Had an H2o sim from before I started service . Was initially going to use them last year so order one for a penny to port in but ended up using T-Mo. Just used that sim, filled out form on H20 site and my number was ported out of Sprint and into this sim card in less than an hour. No need to deal with retentions!

For those of you who have free enjoy. For me I have Verizon Prepaid $50 plan stocked with discounted ebay refills , double data, rollover ends up being over 20gb. So $25 a month about , no tax , and yes , $20/mo more than Sprint but in So Fl , near Fed Hwy Sprint dont work well.
Congratulations on getting done what you wanted!
There are some unique problem Sprint has in Florida because of band conflicts at the international border.

All Sprint-branded phones come with the sim card.

I am not an iPhone user but as far as I know the Sprint version is a perfect choice and is just as portable as the unbranded version. It may come locked but you just get it unlocked 50 days later, that's all.

It is not like earlier models where there were different chips in different models. Apple went all Intel now.

516TQ or 416TQ is right.
416Q is wrong.

Probably he meant 416TQ.

in the s4gru link (and ting)...the x is 416q..while the xs, xmax, xr all have the 516tq..so in reality it is not either 516tq or 416tq...but rather 516tq only...right?

You are right that 416Q was for the X and the 8.

If you read across the full line for the new phones, either 516TQ or 416TQ is fine. Sprint sells 516TQ for BYOD but Apple uses 416TQ in the phones and gives them out but either is fine.
