Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

After looking over the Wiki, I see 2 differing data points on the Moto E4.

After entering my IMEI & phone # on Sprint's site, it said it was ineligible. But that might be due to being on Boost.
What is the most recent data on the E4? Is it eligible or ineligible?

Thanks for the info, the employee did seem confused and said to come back tomorrow when the sales guy is there. I should be able to buy this without a contract with the correct phone sales guy and also get sprint to switch phones on the free sim i already have?
Sims are not portable between phones requiring different sims. Since this is a Sprint phone, it will come with the needed sim already installed.

Yes, you can just swap the phone on, with Chat support.

The $96 one does not require a contract.

The $48 may require a Boost contract and that one will NOT activate on Sprint postpaid according to someone who tried. So, tempting as it may be, you should not buy that one.

There is not just one E4. There are different E4 SKU's.

Boost phones are never eligible. (Occasionally people have gotten them on but you cannot count on that at all).

As with many phones, there is both a Boost sku and a Sprint postpaid SKU (and an unbranded SKU). The Boost sku is ineligible, the Sprint and unbranded SKUs are eligible.

Odds are high that any given E4 will be the Boost SKU or locked to another carrier, since it is most commonly sold as a discounted prepaid phone. So 99% of the time you might as well forget it.

Also, a non-Sprint E4 will lack Wifi Calling, Visual Voicemail, HPUE, no LTE Calling etc etc.. Personally I would not buy a phone lacking all of those.

Ok, thanks. So are non-Boost E4's eligible or ineligible now?

^^^ @comintel replied that the Sprint version is eligible.

What does the "Expired Eligible Devices List:" in @johnny_miller's first post in this thread was even intended for initially?
Must still be so confusing to most people starting on this thread having one of the listed "expired" phones and then being turned off by that right away.

Most (the cheap ones) will be locked to a prepaid carrier or be GSM only and be ineligible.

The unbranded ones that support all carriers are eligible. But you cannot always tell the difference from some vendor's description. And they look identical.

The best place to look is the CURRENT list of eligible devices linked to from the wiki. It has many clarifications.

For E4, it says:

Moto E4 (XT1768)
Moto E4 Plus (XT1775)

So those are the only non-Sprint models that are eligible.

The Sprint postpaid model XT1766 would also be eligible provided it is not Boost or other Sprint prepaid.

It was just a name a SlickDeals editor came up with to label one version of the list as out of date. It did not confuse long term posters, but it is confusing some new users.

Actually both of those lists are out of date now and the only current list is the one pointed to at the start of the Wiki itself.

Both of the lists quoted above are obsolete and are not part of the Wiki itself, not are they under our control.

Yeah, it's just terribly worded, and seems to confuse a bunch of folks. Can't imagine how many people see that "expired" list in that post and never bothers to proceed. Since most of the "expired" devices on those lists actually are perfectly eligible, but it suggested otherwise.
Unfortunately by the time many even reach the wiki and the current eligible list, they're already long gone. Frown

No it is not.

Why don't you look for a decent Sprint phone (hence NOT on the list) that would give you Wifi Calling, Visual VoiceMail etc. I am not going to start posting suggestions because they are many different ones and I have posted too much already. The phones you are looking at would be crippled on Sprint. What good is a cheap phone with crude voicemail, no wifi calling, no LTE calling?

Thanks, that sounds about right.... I think mine should be a bit less when I sign up in Nj in a week and the Wiki seems to show it around $4. Thanks! Did you activate over the phone or online? No activation fee?
