Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

That is where I got the information I used, and the person I spoke with told me that the promo ended this past Friday. She closed the call within 3 minutes since that was the only deal I was interested in. Clearly that isn't the case since people in this thread are still getting the deal (you included), so I was asking how you were managing it.
Call again. That is mentioned in the Wiki. If you don't get a rep who has the right answers, better to hang up and call again.

i dont do this but..straight from wiki

1a: Most experts here advise to get this plan over phone and NOT online.
Several reasons: (no activation fee, and any issues that come up will be addressed right then there).
Now verified that BYOD phone in is waiving the sim card shipping fee so your cost will be $2.99 plus tax. New BYOD or an existing account!
Call the dedicated # 866-782-8777. The folks there are the ones that can help u. The telesales folks are in the Philippines . In some cases, the calls get routed to a different dept which may not access to this promo. So we advised to start the conversation with something like "i want the free i year promotion. can u help me with that". if the answer is not a emphatic yes ...then it is suggested u hang up and call again (huca)

I did not try.
Try calling and asking them if it does not work.
I tried NITRO15OFF and STORM215OFF but I got a message saying it was expired

I would call and ask for 15 off or if they will not do that, 10 off.

can't beat $3.77 a month for an unlimited plan. i was too tired of budgeting every MB of data on my $0/month freedom pop plan.

hoping that this first bill is indicative of future bills. thanks everyone for your help.

wondering what the best option to switch from this will be in 2020. maybe they'll be another 'free wireless plan' that's better than freedompop then. here's hoping

Really? I just tried to sign up and they said the promo ended last week, even though I can still see the promo online.

I went through the online sign up and it said I had to call in to set it up.
...
As noted by Desi, people get that all the time from reaching the wrong call center. This arises out of signing up online and running into problems, then the error refers you to a different number (or the call can be misrouted).

It is nothing new - the other call centers simply cannot access this offer.

It is not your fault., but if you look back at your outgoing call log, I believe you will find you called a number other than 866-782-8777. So you got reps who know only about other offers. Check and let us know if I am right,

No big deal, just call 866-782-8777 and you will be fine.

Not sure if i missed this somewhere but how to port out a number while upgrading the phone at the same time?
I'm porting in from Total Wireless (VZW MVNO) and want to upgrade in the process (iPhone 6 - iPhone X)

Can someone confirm if the below steps are correct?
  1. Call Total Wireless to approve porting out my phone number from my current plan (iPhone 6).
  2. Get sim card (Apple Store/Spring Corporate) insert into new iPhone X
  3. Call Sprint number provided, ask for free plan
    1. Provide NEW iPhone X IMEI number
    2. Provide Total Wireless phone number to port (From Total Wireless iPhone 6)
    3. Provide Total Wireless plan Acct# and PIN (for total wireless Acct# is IMEI of iPhone 6, pin is 0000)
    4. Provide ICCID# of Sprint Sim Card (in iPhone X)
Thanks!

Yes that is correct. You have got the idea down correctly that you port only the number (and activate the NEW phone, not the old one).

It is covered in the wiki very exactly (you can check there for the details) but the net of it is, ignore that email.

You will get until Jan 31, 2020 to be exact - 13 months plus.

See the Wiki for how to get confirmation (not that it's needed - this happens on every signup).

Signed up today! Happy I finally got in on this. I couldn't do it with my Oneplus One (which I'm sad to be leaving).

I got in on the Cricket Galaxy S9 deal. I considered porting my real number over to them (to actually use that one month of service), but ultimately didn't because I didn't want to risk Cricket refusing to port out after only a month or something. I dunno, better safe than sorry I guess.

Took about 2.5 hours on the phone with sprint, ugh.

If anyone else is also bringing over an S9, be sure to "Update Software" (under settings) after you put the Sprint sim card into your unlocked phone. I didn't do that and had problems getting the phone onto the network. When the phone updated, it gave prompts saying 'oh you have a sprint sim, we'll fix some stuff...' and boom it was working.
Yes we have covered that many times but it is good to mention it again.

You have to have current level software on the S9 because Samsung only released Brand switching a month ago via an OTA update.

It is normally easiest just to have the updates applied ahead of time.

You can do so via Samsung Smart Switch on a PC as well as from the carrier.

Just came back for year 2. Ported to Mint in October and back to Sprint tonight. Only took 40 minutes on the phone. Reused the Sprint sim card. Many thanks to all the experts helping us. I did follow the wiki and called the 8777 number.

repped but I have one issue.

When trying to login to my new sprint account it tries to send me a code for security but then says the number does not belong to me. I used a family members SSN to port back in so name and ssn is different. Will this always be a problem or just temporarily?
Thanks. I used a different id/email address when I joined back Sprint and didn't come across this issue. Call to customer service should resolve it.

Yes I would contact Marci if they miss their promised date or anything is not perfect.

Personally I might not have let them take this route and would have started over because others have had problems that lasted a long time even after fixes were applied. Maybe they have improved their procedures since then. Most likely it will be ok.
Thanks for the advice.

Just an update: the port was successful after I called in this afternoon to check on it and after that call it seemed the porting agent was able to make it active so I did not have to wait until 6PM CST. Weird how it took me to make the call to get it active sooner. Why they couldn't do that automatically without me calling, I don't know.

However, the concern about the free plan not attached to my number came true. The plan attached is the Unlimited Plan v4 for $60/month. Even though the porting agent said someone from the escalation team would contact me back today with a resolution, I did not receive such a call. So I called Marci's office late at night today but I assumed they were closed and I was transferred to regular customer service. The customer service agent did notate my concerns regarding getting the free plan back on my account and told me to wait a week and she would call me back to see if escalations actually resolves it.

After the call, I decided to email Marci as well. I also plan on calling Marci tomorrow during business hours. Does anyone know the exact hours Marci's office is open? I work during the day so I need to find the time as well to call in. Unless they can resolve everything automatically by email, that would be great.

I want to make sure I am on the free plan before my first bill generates so I can make sure all my charges are correct.
