I run into a porting issue and I hope the experts here may have advice on what remedy I may try.

I ported a line (with an iPhone 6) to this deal yesterday. Everything went fine on the phone with the customer service. However, after the activation, the iPhone 6 hasn't been able to stay connected with the Sprint network. It's usually 'No service', but occasionally it would show Sprint with no or just one signal bar, and then go back to 'No service' in a couple of seconds. I have tried the following numerous times on my end to correct the situation:
1. Dial ##clear# and ##update#,
2. Re-seat the SIM.
3. Reboot the phone.

Nothing helped. I tried to contact Sprint support and they weren't helpful.

BTW, I know the port is successful because when there's Wifi, I could use the iPhone 6 to do Wifi calls.. Plus, the account where the line was ported out of shows it as 'deactivated'.

Am I missing any other procedures that may help? Thanks!
Did you get it to work? If all steps suggested didn't work, you may have a problem with the phone's activation policy.

Thanks, SamKQboro and Genghis_Khan for your suggestions. I got a hold of an online agent who seems to really know his stuff. He found that according to Apple, my phone was bought in Mexico and therefore has a Mexican policy. He said he couldn't change it to US policy. Frown My company gave me this phone 4 years ago and as far as I know it's purchased in the US.

The Sprint agent hasn't replied to my question on how I may correct this.

The other weird thing is that it worked perfectly on Xfinity Mobile (Verizon). If it's not US policy, don't you think it wouldn't work with Xfinity either?

Any other suggestion on how to proceed from here would be appreciated.

Have you tried the steps I mentioned? I'd try all those first, might be that simple or a factory reset. Also @Genghis_Khan mentioned the activation policy, which some have faced here. I think they took it to an Apple store or spoke with Apple to get it sorted.

well it worked out for me in the end, ported out using those digital sims from tmobile, then just went directly to sprint site and signed up again using wife's info (don't really "need" to call), opted in for free shipping for the sim card but since I had them already I just went ahead and activated each phone

another year of unlimited service in a row
Did you have to fund the Tmob acct with Pay as you go plan $3 to port the Sprint number in?

Get the GSX Report for your phone for $0.99 on EBay.
It will show the locking policy and whether it is Mexican.
Sprint is not allowed by Apple to change other carriers' locks.
It would have to be Apple.

My god that was painful... 40 minutes on the line and they wanted me to go to a Sprint store to pick up the SIM
You have to get a sim somewhere. They will ship it if you want but there may be a delay with the holiday.

Best go to a corporate-owned store ONLY to make sure you get it for $2.99. You can get the universal 4-in-one pack if you want.

Or if it is an iPhone, most Apple stores will give you one free.

Sprint and Apple is weird with that activation policy. Yes your unlocked phone will most likely work with Verizon and all the other GSM networks but because of the problem with its activation policy. Sprint's LTE antenna will work but it will not trigger the CDMA side. Dunno if Apple USA can help but they need to escalate your case to a higher engineer. "Apple Activation Policy ID 2303 multi mode unlock" is your magic word.

Yes, I have tried all the steps numerous times, and nothing sticks. I will do a thread search to see if I can mine more info on the activation policy. Thanks.

It has been going for a year and a half, going on two years soon, but if you want to check up to the minute you can load the page:

https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/of...:1yearfree

which will be updated when it ends (but do not actually sign up online there, see our wiki for how to do it by phone).

(We know it will be updated when the deal ends because Sprint did that with other similar deals).

P.S. Go to a Sprint corporate owned store only to be sure of getting sim for $2.99
