Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I know that, but does it need to be by the payment day of 1/22 or the end of the promotion on 1/31?
You can always call Retentions for clarification. I would not talk to anyone else at Sprint as only Retentions is authoritative and can annotate your account with formal approval (since they are authorized to take notice of cancellation from customers)..

Which part? That they can't sell SIM cards unless tied to account? He didn't exactly explain it that well, but that was the gist. He said the employee yesterday erred.

It did strike me a little as odd as they are essentially refusing service and potentially losing a customer for Sprint if I leave and say screw it I'll stick with current service.
Yes exactly. They are supposed to sell anything Sprint sells.

Actually as I mentioned they could even set up an empty account if they wanted to as well without a plan in it. It sounded as if they maybe had already done so. I would be prepared that that may be the case. If so, it is fine too.

You can just call the number ending in 8777 and they will handle everything either way.

In my case I'm cancelling my plan a month early to avoid any possible charges. I'm canceling before the end of my billing cycle which would be Jan 21. The payment date is different from the service dates.

I agree.

And then for more fun the customer who is given the wrong plan spends a month trying to correct it going through various appeals within Sprint when all they would have had to do is cancel the plan and start over.

So not only do they blow signing up for the plan, they also blow getting out of the wrong plan that they ended up with because they signed up wrong.

I am sure Sprint knows now about all the grief it has caused with the self-service aspect of this plan and has had second thoughts, probably regarding it as a failed experiment and given up on doing it this exact way in the future.

Notice they killed off $15 self-service KickStart and replaced it with $25 KickStart with Store support. The extra $10 pays for the store support..

I have a feeling they thought this Free plan would die off without any further promotion. This thread and one or two other forums may be the main source of new customers asking for this plan. Remember when this thread went to "dead deal" status until we asked SlickDeals to reinstate it? I have a feeling Sprint had a hand in that. But as long as it keeps generating business with no publicity costs, they have not killed it so far.

Sprint has to preserve its subscriber numbers at all costs in case the merger falls through at the last minute and they have to fend on their own or find another merger partner..
Then why the decision of its subsidiary virgin mobile to allow BYOD only iphones?

I am not familiar with that issue. Could you post a link or explain exactly what the issue is?

Any employees here want to be super nice and hook me up with a SWAC invite? Reddit seems to be dead for that. I know there is no contest or anything running. I'll be eligible to do the BYOD for another year but I'd rather get on SWAC and keep that plan for the long haul if possible. PM me to work something out.

Right - well I agree with you that you that they should open it up.

But as to the relationship to the merger, Virgin's or maybe it was Boost's original owners have offered to buy the prepaid subsidiaries and I think are part of a group trying to get regulators to force Sprint to sell them off as a condition of the merger, so until all that is settled I doubt they are going to be making major changes at Virgin or Boost (since they may have to split them off)..

As a matter of fact you could argue this free offer is an attempt to move some low-end customers back onto the mothership side since Sprint may have to give up Virgin and Boost soon.

If i change my phone(device) can i use the same sim card? I remember while ordering the sim card they asked for the IMEI numbers of the phone. Do i need to call customer service and tell them that i have a new phone now? So that they can change things from their end so that the phone works?? Pls help
Only if the new phone uses the same type of SIM as your old one. There's a SIM card compatibility checker on Ting's website that will tell you what kind your phone uses.

I have a very specific reason to want SWAC. Basically, I pay for Hulu/Spotify now which is like $18 a month. This plan comes with Hulu/Tidal which would save me $18 a month. My work also pays 80% of my bill. So on SWAC, after my work chips in, I'm basically paying $6-7 a month for sprint service, hulu, and tidal instead of $18+5 (byod cost) for hulu, spotify, and byod plan. And I keep the plan after one year.

It makes sense for me, not for most though I imagine.

Not really, I was finally able to cancel after almost a month. I asked to cancel right off the bat and they said I have to pay off the balance. My bill came two days after my activation and about $80. I dont want to pay that for just 2 days of service. So was told they need to adjust the bill before I can cancel......the stringing of waiting, holding on the phone. IF they kept their words and fixed it, I would have canceled it less than a weeks. They also threaten if I dont pay it will go to collection.....I do not want to risk all this later.

Sorry to hear this.

However, for future reference or for others, you can end service at any time instantly by porting out. That is what I suggest to avoid being trapped on a paid plan while the meter is running. I updated my original post to be clearer on how to cancel by porting out.

Then you can invoke their 14-day money-back satisfaction guarantee.

But I understand - you went by what you were told by the staff you were talking to.

I certainly would not defend them. They should have better informed you about your rights. I agree they do stall, and I suspect it is partly to get past the 14 day refund period (not that it would really be limited to 14 days in a case like this).. It is not that stalling is their official policy, but Sales will always be pressuring the staff to hold off as they make their case that the sale should be upheld so that they can keep their commission.

I try to post it every time this comes up.

There are also people we could refer you to higher up in Sprint who usually settle these in a day or two.

Is there still a dispute now or is it settled now to your satisfaction? Did they refund or credit any money you paid? If so, I guess it worked out in the end, at least in terms of dollars, after the ordeal. If not, people including me will have some suggestions (if you want them) on getting the money back.
