I contacted the seller asking but no reply yet.
I may try over the phone and see if that works.
For example: use google pixel phone to get 1 year free and then put the sim in an ipad or iphone

I guess TMobile just goes by the ICCID and does not check the IMEI since it would not check it for its own customers.
I contacted one of the agents on the Sprint forums about making the device eligible. The Sprint website shows the device is eligible for BYOD with Sprint, but not eligible for the promotion. They are telling me that I'm not eligible for the promotion because I must be using a Verizon or ATT post-paid customers only. I don't know what to tell them because that's what the fine print says on the promotion. I see nothing about a non-sprint "family of providers" as described by OP. Device was previously used on Twigby (why I need to get it changed to post-paid), port-in would be from Cricket.

Also first try the Ting checker as sometimes just trying it there can clear it, believe it or not.

my phone is a motorola X pure - which according ot the website in the wiki - BYOD is SIMOLW506C and primary is SIMGLW446C. not sure what the difference is between the two?
i also have a hwawei honor 5x - the wiki doesnt say what sim.
can i use SIMGLW436C on those phones?
