Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Anyone know how this deal gets impacted by the Tmobile merger, when that happens?
TMobile's leaders have promised in congressional testimony that Sprint users will be able to keep their existing plans as is.

That was an issue at one point and people debated on the RP forum whether Sprint might go so far as cut off the phones if they were taken off an MVNO briefly as you described, but Sprint never actually took it to that stage.

One a phone was allowed on MVNO's, it remained that way. And remains that way to this day. I have a number of phones in that category.

But that only concerned and concerns MVNO eligibility. Those prepaid phones were never eligible on Sprint Postpaid, and still are not. Again, I have several. Some of mine are on FreedomPop now. Another on Tello.

,
You are right, I don't know what I was thinking. I just checked two of the phones I have on Tello and they are both Boost phones. And they were never on Boost.

edit: And if you ask LiterallyUnlimited on Reddit to flip the flag from PLBL to SPCS on these phones he will tell you that he cannot do it. Thus they fail the Sprint postpaid checker.

for now

my thoughts are even if we had the traditional "2 year contracts" with a merger those plans could go away...immediately or when contract is fulfilled

in todays mobile world , there are no contracts at all.
so no guarantee either way
security of a contract works both ways

Most likely Sprint and T-Mobile will merge later this year and there will not be any more BYOD Free 1 Year extensions.
This latest 3/31/2020 extension may be the last one depending on the actual merger date.
The merged company will keep the free plan until then FREE for all those who got in before its latest offer expires. It may be 3/31/2019 or 6/30/2019, etc.

There are many options after there is no longer a free plan for people, depending on their individual needs, but a similar all unlimited plan will probably be something like the current MetroPCS/Boost Mobile/etc., $100/4 lines.

Successfully ported from google voice to sprint today just to explore the quality of service in my area. Wiki was very helpful and made it easy. The rep was pushy on the device protection as well as sprint drive for cars. I accepted the device protection, but declined sprint drive. The only catch is that I am using Verizon iPhone 6, which does not support band 41. Not sure if that will impact the call quality or data.

The merger is still a maybe at this point and is not guaranteed, however assuming it is approved it won't begin taking full effect for 1-2 years before full network switch over and combining of towers etc. by that time all these free plans will be used up and you will either need to buy a new plan or cancel service. Again the merger is still up in the air at this point, the whole point of this promotion in the first place was to gather as many sprint customers as possible before the merger to show sprint growth. Even if you are on a free plan you are still a customer and they are using those numbers to brag about sprints growth. If the merger does get approved and that's IF but if it does this extension will likely end and you will only be eligible for this plan if already on it. At which point as I mentioned before you will be able to use your remaining months then either buy a new plan or cancel.

Well it will impact it for data. Band 41 is now Sprint's main high-speed and strategic band and you cannot even use some facilities without it such as Magic Box and some small cells in shopping centers etc.

Use Chat or the Dashboard to cancel the device protection. That's what we all do. You can do that right away.

That's good to know. I might switch iPhone 6 to a Verizon iPhone 7, which seems to have all three sprint bands.

I will be sure to cancel the device protection soon. Thank you

OK, before any upgrade I would bear in mind that you would need IPhone 8 or above to get VoLTE, giving you better voice quality and simultaneous voice and data (being rolled out now).

If anyone has taken one of those G6 Play loophole phones out of the BYOD plan and then back in for a second year let everyone here know.
Not exactly the scenario you are asking about, but just two weeks ago I did something similar. I had a Boost G6 Play that had been on my account; I swapped that phone off for another handset, then activated it again with a new phone number on a brand new account for a relative. There was no problem at all with that phone's eligibility.

My spouse curtrntly has a Verizon iPhone 6 on this plan. No issues without band 41, but I believe we're in an area that Sprint covers very well.

That's about the same and it's good news!
That means that all these loophole G6s are permanently eligible for Sprint postpaid.
Thanks.

Yeah, but did you check your account? Sometimes they don't ask and push.....they just do it.

Im past my 120 days of service for BYOD. Can I take advantage of a Sprint BOGO deal (that requires a new line of service) by creating a new BYOD line? Thinking about getting iphones for my parents.
