It is with a heavy heart that these devices [sprint.com] will no longer be able to activate on the Sprint network after April 30, 2019. [sprint.com] I have many great memories with some of these devices Frown

If your device(s) is already active on the Network (turned on and in use), it will continue to work, but the following changes will no longer be possible:
  • Re-activation (Master resets will render the device inoperable. A master reset is initiated by entering the following on the phone's keypad: "##RTN#" or "##786#)."
  • Subscriber/profile information changes – you can't swap phone numbers on this device.
  • Preferred roaming list (PRL) updates. A PRL is important because it tells your device what towers to use. Since your device(s) won't be able to get an updated PRL, over time you may experience irregular service if changes are made to the Network in your area.

*You heard it here first on SD - great news, great deals, only on SD. Brought to you by macrokelvin when he is not making love Big Grin

Not only that, conceivably Sprint may offer a free replacement/upgrade (though she might not want it I guess).

I am planning on activating my Kyocera again to bet on that possibility.

You Sir, are a treasure. Never thought of that.
Also correct that she won't like the change.
Tried an Android, then an iPhone SE. She just can't remember stuff.
So she loves the Kyocera ($15 on the eBay) and she's saving $43 per month (Verizon port).

I am currently on Fi and want to move out. My plan is to port my number out to GoogleVoice (so I can use its call forwarding and ability to text from pc features) and get a new number from whatever prepaid MVNO I pick.

Can I use this plan? I don't want to port my real GV/Fi number into Sprint.

Yes you definitely can. The number and phone do not have to come together.

Unrelated to that, there can be issues with phones previously on Fi being accepted until the MVNO Flag is flipped. See the Wiki for a start on that if you have not read it. It may not arise and it is remediable if it does.

Sprint started offering 5 lines for $100 with no credit check until 1/31/2020.https://www.sprint.com/
That's the same as many other providers' offers except Verizon that's milking its subscribers for all it's worth.
If that signals transitioning, the free plan may be coming to an end.

For sure, thanks. Currently the check says it's on sprint, obviously because it's on Tello now. I know I may have to ask tello to switch it to postpaid or ask the sprint community if Tello doesn't.
Just wanted to guage if anyone has had experience using the 4S previously with this plan. I was particularly looking for some negative experiences so i can convince my dad to upgrade his phone.
why don't you borrow his phone for a bit and change it to a new one without telling him. as long as phone is the same size i don't think he will notice. except......porn will be a bit clearer cuz of better screen resolution.woot

Hahahaha! We've actually comtemplated that, but only the SE and maybe 5/5S we might get away with it. His phone is his prize possession. Porn/data not required but Unlimited calling was truly offered for the likes of him and teens! laugh out loud
