Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

question for experts (and anyone else who would like to weigh in ) :
thoughts on a sprint phone that passes the 1YF eligibility checker,
but fails on ting and esn swappa

wil this phone be able to be activated on a 1 y free plan?

wil this phone be able to be activated on sprint paid plan?
There are two types of FED check on Sprint. One is for financed/leased devices (on 24-month installment payments or 18-month leases) and another is for subsidized devices (subsidized/discounted postpaid devices on service contract and subsidized/discounted prepaid devices on MVNOs).

Unfortunately, AFAIK, Ting and Swappa do not differentiate the above on their ESN checkers. For financed (24-month installment payments) devices, you can activate any of them on any Sprint account and on any Sprint plan as long as the original owners swap out the IMEIs from their accounts and continue to pay the installment payments. Same for service-contract (1 or 2-year service contract) devices, you can activate any of them on any Sprint account and on any Sprint plan as long as the original owners swap out the IMEIs from their accounts and continue to fulfill the service contracts. They will stop working (blacklist) when the original owners stop paying and their bills are past due for more than one billing cycle. A few people get screwed this way on eBay, CL, FB, etc., where the phones work fine initially and then stop working after a month or two, after the original owners stop paying their bills.

What is the history of your phone? and what phone is it?

I called the porting department at 877-789-3106 but once they found out I had a Pay As You Go plan, like comintel said they would, they did transfer me. I couldn't understand where I was being transferred to so after I was transferred I told the man my situation and asked what department he was in. he said he was in the porting department, again he was kind of hard to understand so I'm not sure if he was in the porting department I called originally or if he was in a porting department of the prepaid department. either way, he fixed my issue super easily! I gave him my info, he said yes it seems like your PIN for your account was wrong. I gave him the correct pin and less than a minute later he said the port was successful. within a few minutes I got an email from T-Mobile saying my number was active. from there I called Sprint and ported it over almost without anymore problems (the Sprint rep entered the T-Mobile account # incorrectly but it was an easy fix on Sprint's website).

it's kind of mind boggling how easy it was to fix the problem, yet I spent about 2 hours with T-Mobile last night trying to fix it with multiple reps

I want to give an honest thanks to macrokelvin, comintel, hodaddy, and everybody else in this thread helping people out and getting nothing in return. I was getting frustrated that I wasted a couple hours of my time, but thanks to you guys I could fix it without wasting a couple more. I hope everyone appreciates you guys as much as I do
Glad to hear. Welcome to Sprint and make more love!

Actually, the $30 Retention Plan (w/50 GB hotspot) they put me on is the same price and similar to the SWAC plan with the exception of Hulu, which I don't care about.
It also "looks like" the SWAC is not difficult for a "new" customer to get. So, I guess my choices are:

1) Keep the $30 retention plan since the 50GB Hotspot is important to me; or
2) Port out/into my SO's Free Plan (and suffer with PDAnet for a year), and when that is over, (by that time I'll be a "new" Sprint customer), get the SWAC. The only chance I take with that approach is the possibility that SWAC won't be available or will be less desirable next year.
Could you please post a screenshot of that plan, including the exact plan's name and details as appeared on your account?

For those with SWAC, you can add a free Advantage Unlimited Plus line (50GB hotpot included) to your account starting today (Feb 8, 2019). Just log into your account and add a new line. This promo expires on April 4, 2019. Go go go go go and make more love Big Grin

That is a very good plan you have! You get to keep it as long as possible.

And, it is regular Sprint consumer account, which means you can take advantage of Bestbuy sale price for a device.

Say I don't have an eligible device, would it be worth it to find the cheapest of the eligible devices and just take it in to get the promo? Also can I cancel after the first year is over?
