Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Correct, my brother did the monthly upgrade plan instead of buying the phone outright, so it switched his plan to one that is $120 a month. He is going to drop to T-mobile I think.
Port out and the full amount of the phone comes due, hope there is not any bill credits involved in the upgrade as those will be lost. Also, if the phone was received through an upgrade, it is probably going to be locked to sprint and no unlock until paid in full and 50 days active service. He got in quite a mess it seems. Could always port out and then back onto your free plan.

So my year is ending soon, guess the simplest way (without the shadiness of using a relative SS# or whatever) is to go to another cheap MVNO (Cricket my preferred) for a couple months then go back on this?

I dunno, it's fine, data is crawl slow often but it's not a big deal. The main thing I dislike is as a nerd, not having the ability to grab the mountains of cool cheap GSM phones (like One Plus phones, Huawei phones, Nokia, etc) and just pop your sim in and go, should the mood for a new phone strike you.

You're basically limited to Samsung boringass (and expensive) Galaxy vanillaware AFAIK (currently on S8+). Maybe unlocked Motorola's?

Plus I have a female friend and I guess it's my job to keep her in phones, and with little kids her phones always end up broken within a few months. So it behooves me to be able to grab the cheapest phone deals, swap around give her my old one or whatever (but she's on Verizon) which is a major PITA with Sprint.

But I guess noone is forcing me to save money LOL.

Anybody have an inkling if the upcoming Moto G7's (unlocked) will work on this plan?

Right, you have to be off for 45 days.

Personally I would not touch Cricket because of their pathetic speeds relative to Sprint:

"Cricket caps download speeds on all its rate plans at 8Mbps (LTE)/4Mbps (4G) except for the Unlimited Plan which is capped at 3 Mbps (LTE/4G) and the Unlimited Extra Plan"

https://www.cricketwireless.com/l...ation.html

but evidently you must be in a bad area for Sprint or something.

Mint plans are better than Cricket's..

There are PLENTY of low cost phones that work well on Sprint. If people insist on starting from a GSM market perspective, they would be better to look at Mint, Red Pocket etc.

This is through the apple upgrade service, not a sprint upgrade or anything like that. The way he explained it was he pays a monthly fee and gets an iphone every year or something like that.

Yes, I had cricket before and a couple things...I dont download much but mainly podcasts in the car. Sprint is generally pretty slow at downloading those. Slower than cricket with 8MB cap by a long shot. The other issue with me for Sprint is the internet often wont work in the recesses of large big box stores like Wal Mart. This is annoying because often if I see a product on sale or otherwise of interest on the shelf, I might want to immediately google it on my phone...only to be met with a offline error. At least as of a couple years ago, I understood that Sprint's signal was not good at penetrating buildings, whereas ATT's was better at that, and it was definitely my experience.

Neither of these are really dealbreakers, more of annoyances.

About all the low cost Sprint Phones...well I mean I am interested in like specifically late model Nokia's (like the Nokia 7.1), One Plus phones, things like Pocophone F1, Moto G7. iPhone is a no go for me. I'm looking at it from a nerd perspective so an old/small screen cheap phone isn't really up my alley, I want new hotness. As far as I know not much works unlocked on Sprint that is decently up to date except: Motorola phones, Samsung phones. Even the former seems spotty. That's aside from the hassle of switching phones on Sprint and having to get "permission" vs swapping a sim. But again I dont want to whine too much as I'm not forced to use Sprint. I will look into Mint etc.

Oh OK.

Do you have roaming tuned on? That should give you TMobile roaming inside stores. Mine does. You should leave
roaming on. TMobile roaming is free and unlimited on Sprint now.

On AT&T, Red Pocket AT&T one year plans on EBay are popular:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/redpocke...pg=&_from=

On EBay discount days, they can be had for 15% off (even 20% rarely).

Hello it's been awhile since I've been on here. My plan is to use one of the eligible phones to switch over some lines then they can use their own phones (non-eligible I guess). My concern is that the phones they were using is from Twigby (Sprint MVNO). Can I contact customer service and see if I can swap the phones?

Sure they will. All the budget motos work (unlocked versions). Downside is that none are able to use wifi calling as of yet. Not even the x4

If they are prepaid-only phones, swapping them on will not help. You cannot tell from the name or model of the phone whether it is the prepaid-only model or not. Swapping on can help in certain other cases but not that case.

Start by testing the IMEI in the Ting and Tello and Sprint checkers.

Beyond that, and completely separate from it, the phone might have the MVNO only flag on. You can search on PLBL and SPCS to get more info on that.

You can try whatever, including swapping, of course. I am just trying to hove you a heads-up on what the results are likely to be. Testing in the checkers will be a good start.

Brother upgraded with apple today using the apple plan, so he got dropped off the unlimited.

If he switches to Tmobile, will it cause a problem with the other 3 lines on this account?
Did your brother choose carrier financing or Apple (partnered w/ Citizens One) financing? If Apple, his line should not be dropped.
