Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Anyone know exactly how to tell when your 1 year Sprint is up? My first bill was 4/01/18, does that mean I will be charged $60 on 4/01/19 or what? Is there place to look on the sprint account dashboard?

Why is there all this complicated business about porting out to Tmobile in the Wiki about getting 2nd free year? Can I just go to cricket (my previous provider) or Mint or the like for 45 days, then port back to Sprint after 45 days to get the 2nd free year? In other words, Tmobile is not necessary is it?

They already have the sims and would have to pay over and wait for delivery to do it online. Also you pay the $30 activation fee up front of you do it online, and have to wait for it to be credited back later. Plus more...

It can be fine but this person is ready to go now.

First get the actual expiry date from Dashboard / Manage Plan / See Details.
It will not be 4/1.

Sure you can port out to Mint and back. I am doing that. TMO is just an example and is cheap for people coming right back in on another SSN.

Exactly. I made sure I got appropriate phones, sims(had to drive to multiple locations to find), got numbers ready, etc.

I can't afford to not have service for ANY period of time. I wanted to make sure I had my ducks in a row before I called.

Thanks for the heads up for the number though! I just misread the wiki while looking to copy it.

Warning: I followed the instructions, and now a month later I see I am getting charged $168 a month. Seems like a scam.

Very good!

You can do it now but just fyi the very best time to do ports is not a Friday night.

The very best time is a weekday during business hours.

Port departments are on limited operations at night.

It will still be fine if everything is perfect.

This has always been the case across all carriers and is not a Sprint issue.

Understandable. Also, since Sprint does do a hard credit pull, do you happen to know who they use? I like to freeze my credit in between utilizing it. Do I need to unfreeze before hand?

Experian (or maybe Equifax in some cases - most people say Experian).

It would be far better to unfreeze it.

If it is frozen you will have to take an identity quiz in my experience.

Really? Did you read and follow the wiki? Did the agent read back the terms of your plan?

IF you really had read the wiki, this wouldn't have happened. No scam. Accept blame.nod

Wiki states:

Note 1: Promotion CANNOT be done in store. You must ORDER ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE @ 866-782-8777. BE SURE to ask for the bring your own device FREE 1 Year Plan and be sure the rep verifies it before ending your call. Do not go to a store for help & avoid having them set up your plan or make any changes!

1a: Most experts here advise to get this plan over phone and NOT online.
Several reasons: (No activation fee, and any issues that come up will be addressed right then there).
BYOD phone in is waiving the sim card shipping fee so your cost will be $2.99 plus tax. New BYOD or an existing account!
Call the dedicated # 866-782-8777. The folks there are the ones that can help u. The telesales folks are in the Philippines. In some cases, the calls get routed to a different dept which may not access to this promo. So we advised to start the conversation with something like "i want the free 1 year promotion. can u help me with that". if the answer is not a emphatic yes ...then it is suggested u hang up and call again (huca)

comintelWow that's something!

https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...check.html [sprint.com]
"AVAILABLE IN STORE OR BY PHONE ONLY"
Well, as you say, that may be for that specific offer.

I also found
https://community.sprint.com/t5/A...d-p/977349 [sprint.com]
(although I do not see that it is accurate) so I guess there have been variations.

I do not know if they would do it for the free plan though. They might not do it for "new customer only" offers like this, because it would be hard to check if you were a new customer without a credit check.

See also https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...plan_with/ [reddit.com]

Actually, as you probably saw, one poster here recently did mange to do something like that for the free plan by first setting up the account at a store with no SSN, then giving the account to the phone reps as a fait accompli. And they took that pre-approved account. But he said the phone reps would not do it themselves from scratch for this plan.

Actually, come to think of it, that may be similar to what this poster here did - set up the account ahead of time, in this case directly with the credit department, or via the store in the earlier case, ahead of time. That may be the only way to do it for this plan.
Indeed it will work. How much YMMV I do not know, but it has worked at least once. Could it be an issue down the road? Hopefully not. No credit check accounts have been around for awhile, just never advertised or lately "allowed." I thought my clever "plan" was old news when I saw sprints commercial for the 'upcoming' no credit check offer, an interesting marketing tactic I assume? As I had just created one for this account the previous month, as have many other for years, before it even existed according to the commercial. Collecting/selling data, though, changes things. I would love to know if they ask for a SSN when calling the no credit check plan. You never know, could just be in the script for the hell of it, like sprint complete.

I do not know if you could do it over the phone with the 1 year free department although that would be great. Some reps know what they can do,some do not, and some try things for fun/intrigue/learning I am sure. But cant exactly attempt that identity establishing phone call a few times without getting flagged, ha.

The only thing I can think of was the new customer only deals comintel mentioned. Maybe there is an override that would prevent the 1 year free dept from creating an account without a social and therefore viable way to vet a true new customer? That makes sense, and of course I assume the upgrade after 4 months is tied to your SSN/credit worthiness (and making that transition even more seamless into regular postpaid billage life). Or could just be training and call routing, I don't know. But they are able to assist with the account after its been created/established/"ran".

No need to wait for one month to see your charges. If you followed wiki correctly, you could have noticed your next recurring charges and autopay discount in Dashboard. Ideally it should $5 charges with autopay discount $5. ~ charges per month will be around $3 to $4
