Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Can I add 2 lines and in a few days add another one on by calling the same number? Would that be a problem?

Yes as long as you have your account setup. You can add up to a max 5 lines under this deal anytime afterwards.

I did the same myself

Every time I called them, they would "accidentally" hang up on me when I said I want the free year plan. I tried several times. So I signed up online just as I did the first two years, and suddenly it's an issue.

I've been very thankful for this deal. But there are an unbelievable number of jerks here who somehow enjoy telling people to "read the wiki it's all there." You're not wrong, you just can't seem to say it without being an arsehole.
happens.

calls get routed over seas to philippines

Why would you have waited a month to check your plan? That's insane. I got a bill within the first week but had checked within 24 hours of signing up to make sure I was on the right plan (and remove the protection plan). This thread has been invaluable on what pitfalls to avoid. As with anything, information is your best asset.
I did set it all up properly, day 1. Made the online account, and set up auto-pay. That's how it as able to charge me the exorbitant amount I wasn't expecting.

Did you check the plan you were on? My billing showed $5 with a discount of $5 with auto pay. And it showed me the 14.99 for the protection plan. I didn't know the taxes until the bill was cut a week later.

Sorry if I sounded harsh, I was just surprised someone wouldn't check the plan with this deal since it's one of those almost too good to be true deals.

No, I had no expectation that the insurance, which I had explicitly declined, would be added back on. I don't recall any charge or charge detail when I had set up auto-pay.

That stinks. I get the annoyance of read the wiki comments but I also get the other side of it where one answer leads to the same questions over and over. I have been on the receiving end of those posts. I went over the wiki myself and copied out only the parts that would affect me before calling. I assumed I'd have to call a few times and hang and call again a few times. I got lucky, really lucky, to get a rep who was nice, helpful, not too thick of an accent ( have a bad ear for that, which sux), and she stayed on the line all the way thru the port. Even called me on the line to make sure everything worked perfectly. In fact, it went so well I was worried that I was signed up on the wrong plan.

I have never said that and I did not say it to you at all.

I just mentioned the Wiki, as I like to do, because it is a collaboration that deserves to be encouraged as a reference point. Some experts definitely prefer to sign up online, so I qualified that it was a Wiki recommendation, so as not to overstate that it was a universal one, which is not the case. All I said was that that particular source recommends calling in. I had no idea you had tried that.

If we do not even mention the Wiki, nobody is going to use it. Are you saying you want any reference at all to be made to the Wiki?

I notice some people are posting lengthy responses with no reference at all to the Wiki. Sort of standing above it. Is that the right approach? To heck with the Wiki? Everyone for themselves one-on-one only?

Also people post with different personal styles and do not always use the most polite possible wording. Nor do they have to. As you know.

I honestly do not believe that Sprint hangs up all the time on people who ask for the free plan. Nobody else has reported that. I have never encountered it. I think you were getting bad connections, that's all. It happens.

Anyway I was perfectly prepared, and still am, to try to help anyone however they want, including signing up online. I asked you if using the same account as before was even necessarily a problem as long as they give you the free year again. What do you think? .The reason I mention it is because a rep once told me they could give you another free year even in the same account in some cases. I would try for that at this point if it has already been set up on the old account. That may be easiest at this point.

So wait, you only had to walk into a Sprint store and create an account without adding any line at all and no SSN? What exactly did you request when doing this?
I'm hoping to give this a try but I'm expecting sprint reps to refuse to do this unless I activate at least one line with them
Yup, exactly. Walk in, create no credit check/no SSN account under the guise of BYOD/whatever. Account gets created, find excuse to get account number and come back - do not activate anything. Bring non-compatible phone claiming its compatible, just want to make sure you could create said account/get 5 line approval etc - need to come back with the rest of the fam to do it all at once, want to get port info/think it over, all examples of reasons to leave without doing anything. Yes rep will be unhappy/pushy but oh well.

It is actually a normal thing to set up an empty account in-store first, even for this plan, and Sprint Telesales/ Credit Department routinely refers people to do so when there are identity issues that cannot be resolved over the phone. KRSone579 has a lot of good suggestions there.

Go to a corporate-owned store only is usually recommended though for best results, unless KRSone579 has experience otherwise.

So i filled out the information, then on the 2nd step it asked me to choose a plan, i cant find the free one, it only allows me to choose the basic plan or the higher plan.

Has anyone managed to activate a line for their iPad? Yes, I know it's in the expired list of eligible devices in the wiki, but I also know people have gotten devices activated that are not on the list.

Not one single person has ever reported activating a Tablet in the free plan. It has been tried dozens, probably hundreds of times.

They are explicitly prohibited by name, which is a little different from not being mentioned either way on the list .
