Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

$5 a month. Sprint can just cut me off if I don't pay that meager amount. Instead, they treat me like I'm looking for a loan for a house. Extremely frustrating.

I'm just about done fighting with Sprint to approve me with zero credit history.

Sometime the bands will reset after a while. You can check if this happened by displaying them again.. The phone may have reset them after a while, eg after a PRL update. Maybe you can block PRL updates - I do not remember.

Also it may only be band 26 that is causing the problem at your location based on your results. Band 41 may be ok. I was just guessing as to the most likely culprit.

In any case I think you are showing that this is the general area of the problem. If you try it at another location it may be ok.
Why do you think LTE bands would cause Voice issue(CDMA). They are separate networks. I could see weaker incoming calls because maybe transmit power maybe better than receive power. Does the galaxy still have network settings for CDMA only, LTE/CDMA, or global that can be set?

,

I think it still has to send a data signal in certain situations to tell the phone to switch to CDMA mode when a call arrives.

Yes if he set it to CDMA only that would work too but I was trying to save him some LTE access and isolate the problem as narrowly as possible.

Hopefully it is just a temporary vulnerability of the new model that will be fixed later via a patch. Or it could be a glitch in the tower equipment in his area.

Didn't know that about data signal. Hopefully patches will fix. I've never bought a phone at launch, let others do the testing first.

It has always been like that from day one. This has always been the cause and the fix for incoming calls not ringing. If the radio is busy in LTE mode it needs to be broken out of that and to go to CDMA mode. It cannot be in both modes at the same time.

It's basically a design flaw that was never really resolved. There are just a series of workarounds in the code. Every now and then the workarounds fall part and it shows up again.

We would need to know a lot more about whether other Sprint phones work ok at his location to say whether it was restricted to this model or not for sure.

Sorry if this has been answered before. Hard to tell with 2400+ pages. I spend a lot of time outside the country (frequently one to two months at a time then back in the country for a month then gone again for a month or two) , and currently have t-mobile due to the free global roaming data. After I heard that t-mobile started banning accounts for roaming excessively without being back on the t-mobile network, I started keeping the phone on airplane mode sometimes and using wifi to limit the amount it roams internationally while I am gone. Will Sprint allow roaming to this degree (one or two months at a time), and will they suspend the number for inactivity since it isn't on the Sprint network for long periods (but is roaming)?

Definitely. The immediately surrounding posts are an example. Piles of people are activating that phone. Check the Wiki for the link to the CURRENT list of eligible phones and the link to the SIM chart.

Thanks again for the help and troubleshooting. The problem still persists. As you said, they were back to enable after the PRL update.
There was an patch update for the phone, which I applied. The problem is still there.
After searching more on google, found that S10 is having lots of issues at sprint. enven the stores are having issues., i guess I will wait little while so that they fix it. in the mean time VoLTE is my friend, at least it works.

As far the other phones, yes they work. I have two other sprint lines in the house and they work, they are not necessarily sprint phones, but unlocked, I have Pixel 3, it works fine.
I had my S8 worked great for 1.5 years and still does. Holding on for another few days before i have to send it for tradein.
I Learned a lot today regarding all these things, most of us do not realize as we never see those problem.
I will keep it updated, as i found more things and when it gets better.
