Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

does anyone know if additional lines to existing account can be added after the april cutoff date for new accounts?
Nobody knows and there is a division of opinion!

I think yes (since the plan is frozen and is what it is). Many/most here think no.

At the very least, they might start getting strict about it (maybe only allow port ins from postpaid AT&T and Verizon)

It may be hard to think they would continue to allow port ins from TMobile Prepaid in particular as the potential merger gets close.

I myself did add an extra line just in case.

When you called for this promo, do they ask where the port-in numbers come from?
I have some numbers from a VOIP provider that I want to port over for this promo. The online tool show that the numbers are OK for this promo. If they ask, what should I say? do they require that the numbers are from a cell phone carrier?
Thanks.

actually, first step is to get the phone on sprint service.

next is to contact sprint and ask them for a 6 digit msl number.
(is a master service lock code that is unique to each phone and can easily be obtained if/when the phone is on a active line)

both these 2 steps can be challenging .
so we can continue once u have got that far

Are they open on weekends and what are the best hours to call? I tried to do apply online but go the notification that they couldn't verify my credit. I'm wondering if I can call them to set this up for me today or do I need to wait until Monday?

best practices are in wiki.
wiki suggests to call, do NOT sign up online.
u can call now on weekends till ~7pm...

Yes, I did read the wiki after I got the credit notification after applying online. The wiki didn't say if they were open on weekends or hours of operation for the telesales. Thanks!

Anything is acceptable as noted in the Wiki.

Just say whatever it actually is - FreedomPop, GoogleVoice, Vonage, whatever, if they ask.

Sometimes they ask, sometimes not. If they do, it is just to try to help because a lot of people are confused about accounts and pins etc.

The wiki is not going to have every single details. The wiki is quite long as it is. And people are complaining its too lomg. If it doesn't have all the information, people are going to complain that it's not concise. So although it's important to you what those hours are and if not open on the weekends or not it's not relevant to getting this deal. So therefore take it upon yourself to figure out if they're open or not. one easy way would be to call the number see if someone answers. if they do guess what they're open

A month ago I bought a Moto x4 from Google, which is currently on Google Fi service. The Sprint IMEI/phone number online checker is returning: "Ineligible, the phone or port in number does not qualify for this offer".

I read in the wiki at the start of this thread - I must:

1) Cancel my Fi service.
2) Then call Fi and try to get a rep to clear the EMEI.
3) Only then will the Sprint checker (hopefully) accept my phone.

A lot of people have bought Google Fi phones and then switched to Sprint. Is this hassle really required to switch? Anyone found an easier way?

I use my current phone for security stuff at work. Would rather not be out of phone service for several days. And I don't want to lose my phone number.

Can someone who has switched from Google Fi to Free Year Sprint advise me? Thanks.

while i cannot speak about fi and all that entails.
below can help so u are not w/o service.

straight from wiki:

Still not convinced?

well done on reading this far.
here is a way "try" out Sprint service
requires a bit of legwork, but has relatively low cost and more importantly does not risk your "main number/line/carrier" (in case Sprint is not good service for you)

in a nutshell.
dont do anything to u r main line ...yet

STEP 1..get a phone from ebay (suggestion=Lg g5 =best bang/buck.)
used/like new for ~$75
(preferably from a seller who accepts returns for 30 days)

STEP 2. get a Sprint sim card for the lg g5 (or what every phone u get)

STEP 3. get a Google Voice # (GV#) to port. pay $3 to port it (keep reading on how).

STEP 4. get a h20 sim (used to port away the temp GV#)

STEP 5. IF U HAVE DONE THE ABOVE steps, NOW IS when u contact Sprint and sign up for free 1 year plan by calling 866-782-8777

try service for ~ 1 week

A.
if u like service, move ur real line over.
once that is done, cancel the GV # by porting to h20.
done

B.
if u dont like S service port out the GV# to H20
(effectively cancelling Sprint service)
send phone back to ebay seller or sell on CL or whatever
do all this in 30 days
done

important:
1. to minimize headache, get the most compatible Sprint phone,
it is suggested to get a sprint branded phone
2. make sure u get the right sim card for that phone

total cost $3

Desi has some good suggestions.

Hopefully you will hear more directly as well as you asked. Meanwhile, just on the mechanics, people seem to be posting recently that step 2 is usually not necessary any more.

Just checking the IMEI in the Ting and Tello checkers may do it after they are off Fi.

Step 1 is going to continue to be necessary because Fi phones are already registered on the Sprint network for live use on Fi and Sprint cannot responsibly just rip them out of their Fi use without Fi involvement.

run it through the ting and tello checkers, then try sprint checker again.

Now that I lost the hotspot today "renewing" for my third free year, I tried the DUN method on my S8+ and it works perfectly.

I used the instructions at
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyNo...ntverizon/
and also looking at XDA.

Shortcut Master Lite is no longer readily available so I bought regular Shortcut Master for $5.48

It works perfectly, so I have full built-in hotspot back again as well as the PDANet+ add-on as well. .

Moreover, researching how it works, all it does is tell the Android Hotspot not to bother distinguishing hotspot traffic from regular traffic. So it should be completely benign and good for hopefully a long long time.

PDANet+ is great too but is an add-on that uses WifiDirect.
I have a Moto E4 (Amazon edition, unlocked) that had a working hotspot the 1st year. And of course it doesn't work now. I've tried the Reddit trick listed above, but haven't gotten anywhere with it. PDANet does not work, and I've been using it for many years.
I came close to getting Airplane mode trick to work: "Turn on Airplane mode, turn Airplane mode off, then quickly turn on the Hotspot." The hotspot comes up, but when I go on my computer and click 'connect' it kind of connects. It shows it's downloaded 5,000 bytes. It will increase by 1,000 bytes every few seconds, but still says 'not connected.'
Ironically while running the same phone on Boost, they didn't block out my PDANet the way Sprint does (and Sprint owns Boost...)

Any additional recommendations for getting the hotspot to work with a Moto E4?
