Online activation doesn't give the option to do the free plan. It just wants the $15 or $30 plans

I cannot stress enough how horrible and frustrating this process has been. Utter, complete, total nightmare. I have been on the phone with Sprint over 2 hours, and no one will actually complete the port/activation. They transfer me to customer care, telesales, "special" telesales, port assistance, etc. I have talked to every department in existence I think. Each time someone transfers you, there's about a 50% chance they hang up on you altogether and never call back. Then you repeat every piece of information to the next person, who hangs up on you as well. I cannot believe how horrible horrible horrible this is.
According to those who trolled me after my recent critical responses of Sprint... It's free so you have no reason to be upset & you're just an ungrateful pompus ass who thinks too highly of themselves. ROFL

are you reading the wiki thoroughly? I just did it and it took me about maybe 2 hours total. not ideal, but all went pretty smoothly. it's pretty simple. transfer to tmobile via digital SIM, write down account PIN+ account number (either online or by calling in). call CORRECT sprint number from wiki and say you want the BYOD plan, and then they transfer it. do a network reset, or try ##873283# and you should be good within 15 minutes. cancel the protection plan online via chat.

They straight up refuse to do it. They transfer the call away then hang up on you.

when you call the correct number ask them if they know about the 12 months free byod. if they say yes, ask them to explain it to you and if they explained it correctly, ask them if they can help you get into that deal. make sure you have all the pertinent account and phone infos and sim card on hand.

if they give you the wrong information about the free plan or if they straight up refuse to do it, hang up and call again after a couple of minutes to hopefully get a good rep. a good rep will help you out because they are hoping to sell you the phone insurance.

You called the wrong number then.

You have to call 1-866-782-8777 only.for this special offer.

No transfer is involved except at the end to the credit department in some cases.

Exactly! This is the *only* number I've called. They transfer you without saying anything or asking or just hang up.

Maybe the phone system is broken.

That department always handles it themselves with no transfers.

must agree...follow wiki..u cant go wrong...if rep gives u any indication that they dont know what they doing..HUCA

from wiki:
Note 1: Promotion CANNOT be done in store. You must ORDER ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE @ 866-782-8777. BE SURE to ask for the bring your own device FREE 1 Year Plan and be sure the rep verifies it before ending your call. Do not go to a store for help & avoid having them set up your plan or make any changes!

1a: Most experts here advise to get this plan over phone and NOT online.
Several reasons: (No activation fee, and any issues that come up will be addressed right then there).
BYOD phone in is waiving the sim card shipping fee so your cost will be $2.99 plus tax. New BYOD or an existing account!
Call the dedicated # 866-782-8777. The folks there are the ones that can help u. The telesales folks are in the Philippines. In some cases, the calls get routed to a different dept which may not access to this promo. So we advised to start the conversation with something like "i want the free 1 year promotion. can u help me with that". if the answer is not a emphatic yes ...then it is suggested u hang up and call again (huca)

unless they are busy and call gets routed to a "supporting department"

wiki even notes that..
