Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Well it is an error then UNLESS it is someone else's SSN - they may have had another account and it is going by those dates. (Or somebody used your SSN). That should be fixable if so by sorting out the SSN issues.

Otherwise, if there are no SSN mixup issues, you will have to call to start with, and if they stall, post back here, do not let it drag on.
Apparently my promo is set to expire 3/31/20 after reviewing with a rep -- they said they'll note it on the account and I should see the changes reflect on my plan

Super! It was a very odd thing to happen but it sounds as if you have made good progress in resolving it.

Not good. You cant talk and use data at the same time. I switched and switched back to straight talk in 2 days. Not worth it.

The guide above recommends switching via phone to save the $10 SIM shipping or is it because some people are not being refunded the activation fee?

If activation fee is refunded over time, wouldn't it be better to use a CB site and do it online? Am I missing something?

I am modifying UltraSoul post based on recent updates since then as below:

For A) existing customers whose 1 year BYOD plan is expiring and want to renew another year of free BYOD OR B) customers on Sprint MVNO's i.e. Tello/Ting/Virgin/Boost, the fastest easiest is to port out to T-mobile using cheap ($3) digital T-Mobile SIM card from eBay and port back in to Sprint for another year of free 1YR BYOD. You can also trade with another fellow SDers as some (not all) of the electronic/digital sims are reusable.

If you are existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days, you will need a new SSN (friend/ family). If you are porting from a Sprint MVNO you don't need a new SSN as long as you weren't a Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days.

1) First, have your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO account number and PIN ready. I called Sprint to confirm my account number and pin for all 5 lines. Ensure that you have a Sprint eligible phone and compatible Sprint SIM card (Sprint SIM can be reused). If you are existing Sprint customer, you do not need to remove the sprint sim from the sprint phone during all of the below steps.

2) Order the cheap digital T-Mobile SIM Card from eBay This or similar [ebay.com]. You will purchase 1 unique digital T-mobile SIM for each line you want to port as some digital SIM can be used only/ consumed only once. If you want to do this for multiple lines like me, prepare a list for each phone line (Original sprint number, original sprint account number, original sprint pin, sprint device MEID or IMEI, Sprint sim ICCID, one of the unique T-Mobile sim number, to be added T-Mobile account number, T-Mobile pin, New Sprint Account Number, New Sprint pin) If you have the list ready, you are already halfway there.

3) Once you receive the digital SIM card number, call Tmobile customer care 1-877-778-2107 to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Ask for PAY AS YOU GO, Talk & text starting at just $3/month plan (If they insist on higher plan or having more balance in the plan, just hang up and call again to get a different rep). Just give them your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO acct number, PIN , phone number and T mobile SIM card number. If rep asks for an activation code tell them it is not necessary- only the SIM card number is needed.

4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes per line. While still on call with TMobile rep, ensure to update your list with the TMobile account number and pin. Note that for each line in Tmobile prepaid, it will be a separate account number and pin. Please insist on adding your different email addresses for each line (It helped with my account numbers discrepancies) as each line must have a different email address.

5) Wait for ~ 20 minutes to verify the completion of the T-mobile port and the cancellation of your Sprint account. Port is complete when your existing Sprint/ Sprint MVNO phone stops working (no direct calls/ no text/ no data internet) for some whatsapp wifi calling or facetiming or imessage may still work on sprint phone but text to non iphone users should stop working and turn off wifi and data should be gone. If your Sprint phone keeps working that means port didn't work and call T-Mobile back and have them recheck the old sprint account and pin and associated phone number.

6) Now call back sprint telesales number 1866-782-8777 to sign up for the 1 year BYOD free plan and port back your number from Tmobile with a new SSN i(New or family SSN is needed only if you were an existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days).

7) After about 45 mins on the phone call, you are good to go for another one year. Verbally confirm that the representative waives the $30 activation fee per line as part of the promotion. If Sprint rep heavily insist on adding the device protection plan or Sprint Complete, you can remove it later if you want it, by going in your new online account, My sprint > Change Services to remove the coverage if not needed (do that for each line). Ask the rep to notate your account that you signed up for the BYOD 1 year $0 promotion for each lines in case the rep misapplied the promotion. In addition, ask the rep for your new Sprint account number and pin and notate this down for future reference.

8) Ensure to create your new Sprint account set up online with auto-pay to get the $5 credit for each line. Also set up your voice mail for each line.

9) Most Important: I had 5 lines and I purposely withheld 1 line to be done later, as the sprint port in department screwed up and didn't activate my phones correctly. for few overnight hours, the non-ported original sprint phone was the only working phone in the family and I used the phone heavily to contact sprint and T-mobile to resolve the issue. Lesson: don't do this late evening as sprint customer care group closes at 10 pm

Went ahead and locked in my 3rd year about 5 months early. This has been a great deal, a massive thank you to everyone who has been responding to the same questions over and over and updating the wiki along the way. Probably have saved $3500 from this post.

FYI, just to contribute a little bit... for this port I used the Tmobile digital SIM. Went ahead and bought 5 of them off Ebay for $3.50 each even though I could have potentially reused them. Had 5 lines and followed the process here (side note, initially tried to do it online following the wiki and had constant issues with the Tmobile web site, never could get it to go all the way through before hanging). After requesting the port, 3 of the lines ported immediately and 2 had issues. Went ahead and called Sprint and set up the 3 ported lines, then called Tmobile back to work on the remaining ones.

Tmobile does have a port troubleshooting line at 877-789-3106 but they are limited in diagnosing prepay port issues so will usually just transfer you back to the prepay department. At this point Tmobile said one of the lines had a data entry error and the other was showing as not requested for porting, so went through it all again to do another port request. This time one of them ported immediately and the other still didn't, so went through it a 3rd time to correct a problem on the account #. Lesson learned, have them read back all of the numbers you give them because there will be errors.

Each time you call just be sure to have everything laid out in front of you:
  • Phone Model
  • IMEI
  • Phone #
  • New TMobile SIM #
  • Sprint Account #
  • Sprint Pin
  • Tmobile Pin you will set
The Tmobile account number for prepay will always be the phone number (no 1 in front of it), so you don't need to set up a Tmobile login or spend more than a few minutes at Tmobile before porting right back. The Sprint web site will also almost immediately update once the port is successful, so it's easy to check when a line leaves your account (or gets stuck and needs a call back).
very useful info, repped

The main reason is just that orders have proved to get messed up more often when done online, sometimes catastrophically messed up with the complicated procedure where you are supposed to wait for a sim to arrive. This often falls apart in various ways because it is divided up into too many parts..

Is this promo really ending? Wiki says "The official end date to sign-up for this offer is 4/4/19 (and will not be extended again). "
But there is no official link on sprint website or somewhere.

Even Sprint CSR has no idea of any end date.

so, is it just speculation?
or leaked news?

Did anything really changed for those who recently signed up

Apologies if this was already asked and answered before. I could not find it.

I was hoping to switch my unlocked galaxy s8 (from cricket originally) on Xfinity Mobile to Sprint, and when checking IMEI online, it said it wasn't eligible, but online chat rep said its eligible but I had to call tele sales (number listed in OP) who can do some config changes, so I ordered the sprint SIM kit ($3 with next day shipping)

Got the sim today and when I called the tele sales, they said this GS8 is not eligible. Tried providing my unlocked iPhone X from ATT and that too wasn't eligible. Also checked an old LG X Charge from xfinity, which was ineligible too.... in all, they ran my credit check and established the account, but couldn't activate due to ineligible phones Frown

Any suggestions or help is appreciated.
Wonder if unlocked GS8 and iPhone X are really ineligible, or if I should do something before trying again?
Also, any suggestion for a cheap eligible burner phone?

All S8 are eligible ONCE UNLOCKED and after MVNO flag adjusted if need be.. The others are not eligible.

For the S8, ALL UPDATES MUST BE ON. Use Samsung Smart Switch to check.
Then check on Ting and Tello checkers which may free it up for Sprint also and post exact results.

Then try
https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...hop:030918

and post full results.

nope that about sums it up

people believe it will end simply because (as i put in wiki)

slickdeal staff/mods/writers suggest it will
& more importantly w/o listing a source behind this suggestion

but no official word from S yet

id like to hear from S...but non the less the warning is out there

rest up to each person

As mentioned in the wiki post's link to the sprint eligible phones list, iPhone X (TMo/at&t models) will not be compatible.
Check on your iphone at Settings > General > About > Tap Model. If it's model A1901, it will not be compatible. You would need X model, A1865 for sprint.
