Hurray!! Signed up for the 2nd year today. All's well so far and the SIM card is on its way to me! The customer rep did confirm that today is indeed the last day (for this FREE 1 year BYOD plan) to sign up.

She said I need to activate it today (as today is the last day), but crap - none of the Sprint stores nearby have a SIM card for iPhone X. So, she got an exception approval from her supervisor to get it activated within a couple of business days from today. And, she went ahead and placed an order to have it delivered to me for $2.99 + tax + 2-day free shipping. This is great, and I truly appreciate her good presence of mind.

I'll be porting from Mint (a crappy service in northern Chicago!)...
Oakbrook Terrace/Villa Park area here!!

I see

Int'l Connect Call & Text $15
Int'l Connect Call&Text - Promo $0

Can you see is it the same for you also ? I am guessing the chat agent messed it instead of free promo, she added the plan (I saved the chat history as PDF in which she said 6 months its free)

Edit - had a chat from my sprint account, the agent confirmed its (I can see that you have the promotional International connect Free for 6 months.)

Happy Ending, final day went well
This is correct. This is what it will show. I have been using this since Dec and it will show as as International or LD in your calling history with minutes you used. But none will be counted in your final bill aka "free".

Although make sure you cancel it at your 6 month mark

Finally someone posted the issue to reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...or_sprint/

I suspect this will force the issue.

I have added a post to try to move it along.

Is the 4/4 deadline for purchasing the SIM cards, or for activating them? I intend to switch four lines from a T-Mobile family plan... I received the SIM cards on Monday but will not have access to the four phones until tomorrow.
There are different ways to order the sim cards and I do not know which way you ordered them.

Can you get the IMEIs of the phones by calling someone?

If so, I would call now and get them and sign up. You should not need the actual phones.

I ordered them online through the link on this page. I do have all the IMEIs of the phones (that was required when ordering), but I assumed as soon as I plug the SIM card info on Sprint's Activate Now page, the numbers would be ported from T-Mobile and the phones would effectively be dead until I put the Sprint SIM cards in?

Possibly. Possibly not. Most GSM cards (including H2O) have expiration dates for activation. The date is printed in tiny tiny tiny font on the SIM itself. And H2O cards in particular have promos that expire. So while the SIM may be valid, you might still need to fund it. But you might not. They're giving a free month of service for port ins which sounds perfect for your use case. Except that people are reporting variable luck porting back into Sprint from H2O. Some have had it go smoothly. Hodaddy and myself had a b*tch of a time of it, if you'll pardon my French. I'd avoid H2O for POPI personally. Oh. ETA: H2O's porting dept is open only from 9am to 5pm EDT. So you couldn't use it today anyway.
I just did a chat with them and they said for new ports they need a new sim card. Where are you finding free month of service with Port in? That would be perfect for me. This is a throw away number so it would be perfect.

Was it a corporate TMobile store?
Yes it was. I had the manager help me and he said there was a request for porting already and he couldn't push it through so he got them to put in another request. The phone is still on sprint Byod for a few more months.

Go to https://www.h2owirelessnow.com/transfer

But this is just for future reference. Their porting dept. is already closed for the day. Edit: Oh I see, if you're just trying to kill a number and not port back in, it should be fine.

Why don't you go ahead and activate one of them that you can stand being dead for half a day, just to be safe.

A few ?s:

Does anyone know what time this has to be done by today?

Am I better off trying to set up then port out of a TMO $3 pay-as-you-go plan, or an ATT prepaid plan? (I have phones and sims for both-- I just want to know which one would be faster and easier.) How soon can I port out after having activated a line?

I'll temporarily be using a TMO iPhone to sign up for this deal (which shows as being compatible however needs to be network-unlocked), but I won't be porting out that TMO line-- I'll put that SIM in another phone. Should I move the SIM first then call TMO to unlock the iPhone, or should I unlock first then move the SIM?

Apologies for my ignorance. I'd be most grateful for any assistance.

It should be midnight ET.
As to AT&T versus TMO, others will know better.

Thanks I didn't see the free month tho. I will try and figure something else out. I tried another phone I had here but that wouldn't work Frown It was a Virgin Mobile phone but I figured what the heck I'd try it. That's the only one I have other then Prepaid phones but I think I have some of those cheap phones that have never been activated that come with minutes--those might work. I bought a ton of them to use for Trade ins on the Verizon deal. They would have at least a few minutes on them Smilie
