thanks
my plan expires 1/30/2020
so i am a little early in looking for alternatives.
but...
thats pretty nice.
Taxes and fees included

other option would be to hop back on my family plan of 9 lines..
but i would be sharing 40gb data and will cost me $15 access fee+~$5 in other fees
Do you have a backup option.

I think it is quite likely we will still have good options early next year.

hope so.

as of now..i am thinking when time comes,

1. ~1/15/2020: convey my intention to cancel Sprint account to retention. see what offers they can give to keep me. (i only have 1 line for free plan)

2. if 1 is not attractive, then ~1/25/2020 port out to whatever promo mint has going on.
(mainly see signal of TM in my area)

3 in next 10-15 days, hope for a S retention call and evaluate the offers at the time
(ideal= $15 KS plan)

4 if all else fails, then last option would be to hop back on my family plan of 9 lines..

Yes exactly right.

I think I will put in an actual future-dated Cancel to Retentions to help show I am not bluffing. The line can still be ported out before that date.

That's for people who started signup by 4/4 and have just been waiting on sim delivery via mail..

But you can try lying and saying you called in before then and they told you that you needed to buy sims on your own. Or that you did order sims and they just came. Or that the local Sprint store refused to sell you a sim last Thursday. It is hard to say exactly what would work.

The reps love making sales and may accept weak excuses but this is just speculation on my part.

By the way Sprint subsidiary Boost is offering a $25 a month unlimited plan with 8 GB hotspot!

Links says "Offer valid 10/12/18-11/05/18" or is it still good?

Interested... I have both a Galaxy S7 and an Essential phone. Care to DM me the details, or post on here?
I'm waiting to switch lines from my previous (50 GB hotspot included) free plan (expires 8/30/19) to my new plan (expires 4/30/2020, no hotspot) because of the hotspot issue.
I'm interested in this as well.. I've an essential phone and would like to setup hotspot with the workaround.. Please share the details..

Quote from Indio22 :
I pointed out I could practically live on Frappuccinos with what he spends on cell service. Still was not registering with him. Why? Because monthly service payments that are automatically taken from savings, tend to mask/hide the cost/pain. Instead if every month a person has to physically fork over $100 or $200 for cell service, that tends to smack one in the face, and remind how much they are paying. It brings the pain to the surface so to speak.

But when the amount is behind the scenes taken from savings, it doesn't register with the same impact. By the way, that is one reason companies love and are moving to selling "services" instead of products that you buy once. Because a "service" can be a regular long term line into the customer wallet. Anyway, I think that is some of the psychology at play, for why some people pay seemingly ridiculous amounts for their monthly cell service, which doesn't seem to register or cause them to seek out lower cost options.
Yes, you're right. I've often advised people that the monthly stuff that is the big stealth drain. Cable, car lease, etc. is often worse than a dream trip to Italy.
