Ohhh sorry my bad. I maybe wrong but administrative fees or any other fees, just like taxes, can't be removed.

I got the deal last minute, I kept hemming and hawing about a hard credit hit (even searching for loans/credit cards you can get away with a soft hit until the very end to get a good idea of your rates-ability to pay so Sprint is odd). I figure for the $4-5 a month in tax/fees this is fine to see how Sprint is again. I brought an AndroidOne Moto X4.

I am sad to say in Phoenix, very little has changed. It's incredibly sad and baffling that VoLTE isn't available on most phones. Almost every phone on that list to bring has the capability on another network(s). I've had a couple of occasions in only a few days where I'll get LTE showing, but unable to call (presumably it's able to connect to band 26 but not 1x 800).

The next is the data situation. I updated the wiki with my home and work zip codes. At home, it parks on band 25 LTE, I get around 9ish down and about 2 up, if lucky. The upload has at times been 0.1-0.5. There are areas where every carrier gets bad signal, my son's school, and it drops to band 26. It's OK for email or I would imagine iMessage type applications, but otherwise the ping is too high and speed to slow for anything else. When you're outside it a normally good coverage area, you do get band 41. It is pretty fast, I've got it I'd say averaging 25 down, 3-5 up roughly. I've had a couple spots well into the 60-80mbps. This is over course outside, clear skies, minimal impediments.

Sprint really needs to get out and tune their towers and signal strength and such. I understand the need for band 41, then 25, then 26 and where they work best. I don't think sitting by a wide open window should be cause for NO band 41, which is what they need the majority of people on. I know ATT has some band 30 near that range and it works well.

I'm not here to bash Sprint, I'm beyond that. This is a gracious deal with a $10 SIM card and a $5ish bill per month. I was/am maybe still considering putting the wife on it too as we need to ditch being on a huge family plan with our parents on all sides. I may not, but even as a decent back up service it'll do for now. I would caution anyone in Arizona though (and the lack of 85XXX zip codes in the wiki speaks to it) this isn't the best service at all here still.
I'd say given my experience with a Moto X4, you're doing OK.

I successfully added a line with a Moto G5 Plus. Once I got rid of band 26, I had access to clean Sprint bands and T-Mobile bands via roaming.

I recently added a line with a Moto X4 with the intention of again getting rid of band 26, if necessary. The phone was a problem from the beginning. Activation was difficult because of Invalid Sim Card errors and then poor reception. After a few rounds with technical support and some PRL updates, I got the phone working. This lasted less than a day. The phone lost cellular and WIFI connections. I did a number of factory resets, but I was not able to get a WIFI connection to restart the phone. I'd say I got a lemon, but there are many reports on the internet with similar problems, so I think there are bad batches of these phones along with Android Pie issues. Fortunately, I was able to return it for a full refund.

For the moment, I'm using an old Verizon 5C as a replacement for the Moto X4. The interesting thing about this phone is that it supports Sprint WIFI calling, but it did not on Verizon. I'm not recommending this phone as it lacks full Sprint connectivity. Still, until I find another phone, it's better than gambling with another Moto X4.

Good News : I activated a new plan this morning I was told I could add another 4 lines at any time during my plan year.

Bad news. Mint Mobile is down for maintenance. It's been 12 hours and my port hasn't gone through from them.

I have a pretty bad experience every time I deal with phone companies.

anyone know what kind of deals retentions is offering these days for lines that are about to expire the 1 yr free plan?
When my free year ended in September, I called several times, and spoke to many people. They had nothing to offer. I told them my family didn't use a lot of data, and didn't need a higher-cost unlimited plan. They couldn't even offer a plan with less data. I also asked if they could put us on the Kickstart plan (at the time, it had been discontinued). In the end, I ported out my entire family to a Cricket plan. We probably would have stayed had they offered a cheaper plan.

I've not used the Moto X4 much, but I've put a regular Tmobile SIM and VZW prepaid SIM with absolutely stellar results. It matches my experience on those 2 networks with any other Moto E/G I have and/or my iPhone XS.

The thing is, Sprint has a Phoenix issue, not really the Moto X4. I left them when Network Vision was going on. I tried it out, long after that was completed and LTE was fired up fully with that Ring Plus Up or whatever the scam company offering free service for ads. Yes, I know they went through their own servers and had some proprietary stuff, but as a reflection of the Sprint network, it's still sub-par in Phoenix.

I'm past taking shots at Sprint at every chance - they've made their bed. We'll see if this merger gets through. I just honestly want their spectrum to be used correctly. The overly heavy reliance on band 25, dropping to 26 at times, and crickets on finding band 41 is not acceptable these days. Build the denser network for band 41 - Phoenix is an optimal town. Outside the couple mountains in the valley, it's very flat. We have a perfect grid. I see cell towers and buildings and other things used to put up antennas on - so it's not like there isn't a plethora of options. Anyway, they are lacking and I find dead zones close to areas I remember them existing years ago.

Lastly - why would you say the Moto X isn't fully compatible on Sprint? It has their 3 LTE bands - 25,26, and 41. It works on all 3 CDMA frequencies too. Do you mean no wifi calling? That seems a Sprint issue, the phone works with that on other carriers and also VoLTE works fine too - it's just Sprint.

Just to point out technicalities here.

First off, you're right the admin fee won't be removed.

It CAN be removed though, they just aren't ever going to do it. There is no law or regulation stating they must charge that - it's purely a revenue stream and false advertising to inflate bill prices over advertised ones.

The taxes cannot be taken off - those are mandated by law.

It's the same on AT&T

https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comm...vowifi_on/

and on Verizon for Wifi Calling

https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoX4/c...n_prepaid/

What it comes down to is Moto does not care enough to pay for the testing and certification for these carriers The raw hardware is not the issue, the enormous cost is in the customization and integration testing. You can't just throw a feature on the phone and assume it will work perfectly on a carrier. There are user interface settings etc. just to begin with, and all the code to support them, plus failover between Wifi and LTE, control of feature avaiability by account settings, reliability testing, etc. etc.

By the way most Motos also do not have HPUE, needed for best band 41 performance and range. Any Sprint branded Moto does, others usually not..

Perhaps this thread isn't the right place, but I'm curious if anyone else is unable to receive SMS on their iPhone after doing a Sprint -> T-Mobile -> Sprint port adventure for another year? One phone out of five is having this issue which only began after we did these ports last Monday, and it cannot receive SMS, but it can send SMS and it can send/receive MMS and iMessage without issue. Here are some things I've tried:
  1. Rebooted the phone
  2. ##CLEAR# and ##UPDATE# a dozen times each
  3. Checked for SMS blocks somehow set account-level for that phone number on sprint.com
  4. Turned off and on iMessage (even though iMessage is good, only receiving SMS is not working)
Just looking for ideas before I wipe the phone or deal with Sprint tech support.
Exact same issue. Have had over 3 cases with Sprint and no help. 8 days.

I had the same problem. What fixed it for me was swapping the line to another handset, which worked correctly, then swapping back to the original handset, which also then started working correctly. I stumbled into this, by the way; Advance Tech Support was stumped, and we just happened to try this while grasping for straws.
Any ideas how to do this possibly with the same phone if I do not have another one to switch to?

Some users just enabled Wi-Fi calling and stuck messages came through and then incoming SMS starting working again. Read previous 2 pages for posts.

Did they try reprovisioning it?

Ask them to do it over from scratch. Or ask them to swap another IMEI of their own on and off to see if that fixes it.

What do you mean by re provisioning it?

I will ask them to do the swap and report back
