I called up Sprint today to get my phone unlocked. They asked if I was moving services, or out of the country,... etc. I told them 'no' to both. He tried to find me a better deal, but saw that I was on the free unlimited, so there was nothing better. I asked if I could extend the plan date, but they couldn't do it, and would have to transfer me to Customer Care to have them look into it.

The number he provided was slightly different than the one in the wiki (in case anyone wants to know): 1-800-639-6111

I'm new to the whole unlocking thing -- he asked me if I was unlocking for domestic or international. Naturally I said 'domestic', but wonder if 'international' would have given me more options. Didn't want to mess anything up at this point.

He told me that they would e-mail around 72 business hours, when it's unlocked. So success, and it took about 20 minutes.

I always get both Domestic and International sim unlocks but I think you will get both anyway probably..

Red Pocket is going to have some new low-cost specials coming up this week supposedly for Freedom Pop refugees and everyone.
Any more details, or when?
Quote :
Some Verizon MVNO's may refuse the phone if it was bought from Verizon. Others may allow it. I believe they get penalized $x per month if they take a phone sold by Verizon at retail. If the penalty is only a dollar or so (it varies by model) they may take it anyway.
What about Redpocket?
Quote :
You never need a new Sprint sim for the same phone going to a Sprint MVNO.
If you want voice roaming on a Sprint MVNO you have to use Ting or Twigby. Others do not have it. Mostly you do not need it anyway but obviously you could.
Sorry if my post was confusing. I won't be going to Sprint or a Sprint MVNO. I mentioned wanting the Redpocket VZW or ATT deals.
What I was asking about roaming is, since the MVNO's (non-Sprint) don't have roaming, will my service with a be even worse with them than it was with Sprint, and I was saying that it doesn't seem it would be since I never saw my Sprint service actually roam. And considering VZW/ATT/TMO all have better service here, it seems they, without roaming, should still be better for me than my Sprint service was.
Quote :
Those cheaper prices are for longer-term prepayment. I see some of them at https://www.redpocket.com/plans/ebay . You better hold off on longer term prepayment until you test one month first.
Well there it is. Strange that when I use the link on prepaidcompare.net after clicking the $5 deal (or any of the Redpocket under $10), it doesn't show up on ebay.

I'll try the $10 deal for one month first. Trying to decide which network to use though.
https://www.whistleout.com/CellPh...s/Coverage
This says for Tennessee, VZW = "Most 4G LTE Coverage", ATT = "Most Coverage (3G+4G)"
https://www.whistleout.com/CellPh...nessee-USA
But this says VZW has the most coverage, so who knows. Not sure how reliable this site is but I saw it recommended on here in the past.
Thing is, Sprint showed coverage where I had no data, so I guess coverage isn't as important anymore. I was not in rural areas when I had no data, and even no voice in a spot where I should have.

Though if I get the VZW phone, which I probably will, a VZW MVNO might not be an option anyway (as you mentioned).

Autopay usually takes place about 7 days before end of bill cycle. If your bill cycle ends on 8/29 you won't be switched to paid plan until after 10/29. You are right on 9/30 for start of bill cycle though so may need port out by 9/29 to be safe.
My service ends 7/31, and my account shows I'll be charged $4.34 on 7/21/19. When will I be charged/moved to full price (8/21)?
If I cancel now, my service won't until until 7/31, correct?

Quoting Red Pocket posting on FP Forum (now deleted):

The previous owners of FreedomPop and UNREAL Mobile have agreed to transfer your number to Ting. We are excited to make the CDMA network available again as soon as possible so you can come back to FreedomPop, and not get stuck paying a minimum of $18/mo for any use over 500 minutes.
You can either remain with Ting or port your number to any carrier of your choice, including Red Pocket! The Red Pocket brand will have special offers just for you starting from only $2.99!
is what they posted and that is all I know.

"What about Redpocket?

The only way to know is to check the IMEI with them. If they tell you it is "ineligible" you know the real reason.

"Sorry if my post was confusing. I won't be going to Sprint or a Sprint VMNO. My Sprint phone roans fine on TMobile data and Verizon voice as needed. I do not know why yours does not unless it is a matter of bands etc pr of course location. Verizon voice roaming is supposed to be nationwide and is supposed to be bullet-proof,.
.
"I'll try the $10 deal for one month first"
Sure.

I called retention on Friday and scheduled a cancellation for the end of the month and am hoping for a recovery offer to switch to Kickstart.

How many days does it typically take before a recovery email/text is sent? Looks like there has only been one report of three days.

You don't really need an email anyway. All it is is a link to https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...print.html and as I far as I can see you can just call. They do not need a code off the email or anything - they just ask for your phone number. They did ask me where I heard about the offer.

However I think I would give it a few working days. - not because you need the email but just to look typical.

Does anyone have the answer to this?

Has anyone gotten the $250/line recovery credit for multiple lines by returning to the Unlimited Basic plan, or does the offer only apply to the Unlimited Plus and Premium plans?

Strange post by RP. Are they and Ting related? I know you don't know but I wonder if the $2.99 was just for previous FP users, and if they've cancelled the offer.

I don't know if mine was supposed to be roaming or not. I meant that I didn't think I was ever where it needed to roam, since I was getting Sprint service, though really bad Sprint service. But I'm not sure how that works. Maybe it was supposed to roam.

I was going to order the Verizon G7 but got busy and the deal is now dead, so I'll be using my Boost/Sprint G6 Play for now, so I guess there won't be an issue using it on a VZW MVNO.

Well RP has probably held off because the accounts were sold to Ting so, much as they hate losing the accounts to Ting, they have to honor that on paper at least for a while. It is only a matter of how long. They cannot properly go and lure them right back while they are supposed to be helping Ting take them over. They would be sued..

You better check that the G6 Play is ACTUALLY unlocked by activating it elsewhere BEFORE taking it off Sprint.

Oh no, the guy I phoned for the unlock was the number you gave me in the prior post. 844-382-3317
Only when he was talking about receiving better offers, is when I asked him what the contact was for Customer Care (which he gave me 800-639-6111, in which the last 4 vary from the wiki).

I didn't know it was possible to get both domestic and int. unlocks. I'll decide later if it's worth the trouble to contact them again.

Oh I'm very sorry, I misunderstood.

Well Account Services is of course in charge of special Retention offers (if any, but there usually no are good ones right now, at least not obtainable when you call Account Services/Retentions).

So if he referred you to Customer Care, I guess that was just his way of saying he did not have any.

Hopefully the unlock will go through fine!

The link you gave has two options, to call or chat. Is it better to chat rather than calling as it gives you evidence that you made a chat with them?
