What's the replacement plan? The not free but still the best deal by far?
Are you looking for another high- data plan or more for an extreme low cost plan?
This plan is unique in being both, so alternatives depend on which aspect is more important to you.

Chatted with retentions last night, wouldn't give in on the Kickstart option but she was obviously trying to get me to outright say I'd be switching otherwise for the record. Claimed I'd be getting an email with a super special offer that was in the works from top management, Suspect it's something they can already offer but for whatever reason want to send it as a "Since you're so special to us" type invite. Maybe it's the KickStart plus service credit you mention?
Hello, I have 4 lines on my account. Do I say I want to cancel all of them then call retentions a few days later? The rep on the phone said she can only cancel 2.

I would try again. I do not see why you cannot cancel all four effective at end of billing cycle, not right away. You could do it in two calls if need be I suppose. I think she was just stalling though.

The steps are at
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=128482822&postcount=40779

Please note the difference between Retentions and Recovery. They are different departments with different roles.

Of course you can always just port out too.

I need to port out as my free plan is ending on 7/31, but my billing period ends 7/21. Does that mean I would need to port out by 7/21 to not get billed from 8/1to 8/21? I'm told sprint doesn't prorate, so I assuming going past 7/31 means they'll charge me for the new plan? Is there anyway to keep my service until 7/31 exactly without paying for the rest of the billing cycle?

I tried chatting with them on 2 separate occasions to try to get the kickstart plan, but they shot me down each time. They did offer me unlimited basic but with no credit.

Chat has no authority to give you kickstart and cannot help you with that. There are posts here that tell you exactly how to get it. (See e.g. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=128482822&postcount=40779). Asking Sprint is NOT the way. You need to get around their rules, not to get their help applying them. Or you can port out and port back in to Kickstart if you prefer.

Thanks for the info. I ported one of the lines out last night (it still shows pending). Do you think that's enough for the retention portion, or do I still need to call and cancel the rest of the lines?

Those of you who too the $250 bonus offer - how does it work? Is it applied to your account over a period of time? Thanks.

I have heard people say that cancellations occasionally get lost due to a computer glitch or entry error by the rep or whatever. Most likely it will be fine now.
UGHHHHH

So dealing with Sprint has been a disaster. The second time I asked to cancel worked (after they told me the first time they processed it but then turns out it didn't happen).

Today I received the recovery email

I called and they said that the Kickstart $25 plan is not showing as an offer available for me. So they could just offer the full price with the $100 credits. Said only if I was doing two lines could I get the Kickstart plan

ARGHHHH

At this point, I am not even sure if I am porting out to US mobile so I can port back in since the recovery offer is not working and I don't suspect that will change by porting out. they have the cancellation in their system and I received the recovery email.

I may just port out to Tello $19 plan with unlimited talk and text and 4GB of data and be done with it. Do you see any downside to that? Obviously I know the data is capped but looking at my history the most I have used in a month is like 2.5 GB. And I can just reuse my current Sprint SIM - correct

Does moving to a sprint MVNO like Tello cause issues if I ever wanted to move back to Sprint? Although at this point if I move to Tello I will just stay there Anyone know how long the process takes to port to a sprint mvno like Tello?

The other option is porting to Ting on their unlimited talk and text and 20GB plan good thru 12/31 for $20 but I don't want to deal with switching again if they don't extend that plan after 12/31 and since I don't need that many GB Tello may be the better option

I guess the available offers are regional? I ported one line over to Tello last night, but it didn't go through yet.

It is a national offer stated at
https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...print.html

However you have to wait first for the port to complete and then I would give it another few days after that.

Also porting to Tello may or may not count for the promotion because Tello is a Sprint affiliate. It will be very interesting to see if it does or not, First thing though is to wait for the port to complete. Ports, especially to a Sprint MVNO or affiliate, sometimes stall on weekends. Tello will give you port status periodically.

Tello just responded and said sprint's saying it will be done on the 22nd. The next billing period starts the 22nd! Can I cancel a port? If I'm paying for another month, iI might as well use it for another month. Mad

That date would be in plenty of time (your free period does not end till month end, right?)

In fact, that is probably exactly why they chose that date, to line up with your billing period. Sprint is doing both sides of the "port" because Tello is a Sprint affiliate. Technically it is not a port, it is just an update on Sprint's books, so normal port rules do not apply..

To confirm that is the case, call Retentions at 844-382-3317. You can go over the timing with them to make sure that everything lines up nicely.

They probably did do this on purpose, but won't they bill me for the entire next month since they don't prorate? I'm just afraid I have to pay for a month of the high rates without even getting the use of it.

So an update - after being frustrated because the recovery rep I talked to would not offer the Kickstart plan, I remembered some people reached out via the chat button in the recovery offer.

So I tried that, and they offered me the $25 Kickstart plan no problem.

I will obviously verify that the plan updates on my account at the Sprint website (I assume it may take a bit for that to do so) but if so, I should be good

Just an aside - Sprint makes this too complicated. I get they want people to stay at greater revenue, but why the hoops with the recovery offer and not just offer it in retentions. Oh well...

Exactly right.

No you won't pay, but please call and get it from them, not me, since it is a question of dollars and I do not want the responsibility on questions of billing. What counts is the bottom line for your own account, not technical discussion of when pro-rate matters (it is not a factor in your case).,
