Sprint just won't go away. When i called the retention and offered the $100 billing credit last month, the credit was only $60 and they changed my plan with no my knowledge or permission from
Unlimited - Bring Your Phone - Unlimited Talk, Text & Data
to
Unlimited Freedom MRC
and charged another $25 on the last statement after i ported the number out.

As this change was in the middle of billing cycle i have to pay twice for the same month.
Will they not give you credits to correct? What plan were you expecting to be on? Why did you port the number out? Did you want to just get the credit and then leave?

Obviously you do not have to say all this but I am just interested to understand what happened.

As i miss the April deadline my year was ending. So that i called the retention to cancel who offered me a $100 credit. I accepted, but did not want to use it. At the end of the month i ported out all the numbers; however, 1 number fail to port because the h2o sim was defective. At this time i called the retention again, but they refused to cancel the service siting the port out in progress. The next day sprint generated a new bill with around $70 due. Then i called the retention and asked were was my $100 promised. I was told that this time it will be posted to the account, like really posted. In fact, posted only $60, leaving me with a small payment due. At the end of this billing month i ported out the last number, however did not get any $250 recover emails at this time. Now i noticed that they also changed my plan. As far as i understood now, as the change was in the middle of billing cycle, and because sprint won't prorate, i have to pay twice for the last month. Probable will just eat it.Wave

What should have done: First should monitor the tread at least ones a month not to miss the April deadline. Secondly, instead of calling the retention in the first place should have ported out just 1 number to trigger the recovery email and call the recovery to convert the account.

Thanks for the information!

I agree there are definitely risks to calling Retentions because they try to talk people into other worthless or problematic offers than than what you want. Unfortunately.

I am getting a lot of run around in retentions.

Is there a preferred easy option to port out and port back in? Last year, I bought virtual sims from t-mobile and it worked perfectly. I wonder if that will still work now. Any suggestions?

I remember reading that porting out to h2o wireless without topping up as being the cheapest way to go. Has anyone recently done that?

I ported out one of my lines to Mint, but that one won't be returning to Sprint. When I got the Sprint retention offer to come back for that line, I asked if I could transfer my current Sprint line to Kickstart, but the rep said the offer was only available to the line ported out.

Did you port it back out to sprint? If so, did you have any issues?

Here is a post by someone who got and accepted an offer to extend the Free Plan another year for three lines.

https://www.howardforums.com/show...st17083745 [howardforums.com]

The first step was to port out/ cancel their third line.

So I think we can surmise that Sprint is getting desperate again to shore up its subscriber count.
And hopefully they will increase the retention $ and kicksterter in order to offset the coming deluge of port outs, as the 1 yr free ends.

Yes I think so. I think we are beginning to see that.

Question,

My free byod year ends this month with Sprint; however, my wife was approved for 3 lines, and currently only has 1 line on her sprint byod account which ends in January. My question is, can lines still be added to byod accounts that end next year? If so, is the process still the same to add lines to byod accounts?

Piles of people have added those.

You can use the eSim,

"You just go to Settings and search for Carriers (or go to Settings, Network & internet, Mobile network, Advanced, Carrier). Tap Add Carrier, and then select Sprint and login to your account. They'll text you a one time authentication code to login, so don't turn off your old phone first. And that's pretty much it.

If a Pixel 3 is already on your line, you'll have to swap it off first to an unused phone. There's no way to switch directly from a physical SIM to an eSIM without having an intermediate device."

Sprint is infuriating. I called to schedule a cancellation for 7/31 as that's when my free plan ends, but the rep apparently put it in for 7/21, the end of the current billing cycle. Fortunately, I doublechecked on the 20th (after reading on here that a number of cancellations disappeared from their system) or else I would have lost all our phone numbers!

So 2 of my 4 numbers ported out today, and I tried to chat with the recovery line. They offered my the 4 lines for $100, didn't mention any bonus. I asked if I could have kickstart instead, and they said yes, but only if I brought the other 2 lines back. He absolutely refused to change the 2 remaining lines without me porting back the other 2. He said he was the "win back" department and only cared about getting lines back, not existing lines. The fact that they have been scheduled for cancellation didn't seem to matter at all. So I'm back where I started. I guess sprint really doesn't want my business.

How are the rest of you getting offers for lines that are still active?

When it says your plan ends 7/31, it means it ends with the end of billing cycle on 8/21, not 7/21.
