I'm unclear on when my promo ends. I signed up on 8/22/2018 for the $0.00 for 1 year BYOD plan. Conventional wisdom dictates cancel on 8/21/2019 but according to "My Sprint - Current plan:"

Savings until 9/30/19; then $60/mo. for line 1, $40/mo. for line 2 and $20/mo./line for lines 3-5 with AutoPay

The rep on chat said I should be good on the $0 plan through the end of my billing period ending 9/21/2019. That would make it a 13 month free plan. Does that sound right? Don't want to end up being charged $60+tax for this...

Thanks.
Nah we have lots of experience with these dates. (Chat reps just guess at all questions).

People got 12+, 13, 14 months because Sprint always rounded up so as to have common end dates for their convenience.

It is good to 9/30 but since that it is the middle of a billing period for you likely actually have until 10/20. If you want to be ultra-conservative, port out by 9/30 (or even 9/21 if you want to put some weight on the Chat rep's random guess for the sake of expediency and getting the issue over with)..

I'm on the Free plan which expires 09/30/19, which is different from the start of my billing cycle. My billing cycle starts on the 6th of the month and the bill is due for payment by the 29th.
I also have a Magic Box.

By when do I need to port out or cancel (I don't plan to port back in, as I'm thinking the Mint Mobile 6mo deal at ~$10/mo is better for me, right now), at the latest so that I don't get charged more than what I'm paying now, which is just the taxes and fees, but I want to use up the maximum of the free plan?
(there are too many opinions on this one and each Sprint rep tells you something different.... we should put it in the Wiki if there's is a definitive answer, as I imagine almost all are in the same boat)

What and when should I do about the Magic Box?

@comintel , maybe you know about all of this? Your posts and knowledge are of real quality!

Arguably you have until Oct 5 but why not be off by 9/30 to avoid debate?

You can just port out all numbers (including the Magic Box's pseudo number ) to end it all.

You can request a return kit for the Magic Box by checking a box on your online account.

Thank you for your quick answer!

I only have one line and the pseudo one of the Magic Box. I want to keep the latter Box for as long as possible for my coverage without it is one bar and the LTE is choppy and as slow as a sloth. 🙂 I have nowhere to port out its number, just need it cancelled and gone when my line is out.

How do I cancel it entirely (without a port out)?
Do you know (by) when to mail it to them after they send me the kit?
Would they let me port out the actual phone line (of the phone, not the Box's) if I still have it?

Just requesting a return kit should be enough.

The agreement calls for returning the Magic Box once the underlying service ends but you have a normal amount of time to pack it up and ship it..

You could try porting out the real number and just keep the Magic Box but that is contrary to the agreement so it is not something that is really predictable. Eventually they send nastygrams and threats of billing you for the device. Also they will not completely close your account until it is received.

If the Sprint number is not important (like you use it for data only, etc. not for work or family) and is single line, you could port to Visible. They will give $100 Visa Digital GC (electronic not physical mailed) after paying for 2 months at $40 so at-least $20 Money Maker, could make $20 more by using someone's Visible referral code (it is against SD rules to post referrals). But I think BYOD is limited to certain iPhone and very small number of Androids. Visible runs on Verizon.

https://www.visible.com/promos/get200

Look at threads like https://slickdeals.net/f/13044091-up-to-200-prepaid-mastercard-virtual-account-after-buying-device-two-months-of-service-from-visible

And maybe port into Sprint after 50ish days. (Need to be at Visible for 45 Days to get $100 Visa GC)

Since it is not working out for you for whatever reason (the rep probably entered it wrong), I would suggest just port out and then you can port back in to get KickStart. There is not enough time to get to the bottom of what is going wrong, so best fallback to doing it the most straightforward way, namely by just porting out (and later back in to Kickstart).

Porting out always needs to be the backstop in this approach, since it is true that you could lose your number if things stall out and you get to the cancel date with nothing having happened, which is why we say to always port out if things do not work out!

When is the last day of your billing cycle and cancel date? You need to port out before then - preferably at least a couple of days before.

The last day of my billing cycle is Aug. 18. Can I port it out to T mobile for a few minutes and they transfer to Kickstart?

Thank you.
Looks to be that same used for my S10+. So I can just do the swap online and use the same Sim card I already have then correct?

Yes you can.

The only thing is, people have been having trouble getting the TMobile $3 plan. Some have had to call several times before getting it. Many but not all reps say it is no longer available.

Let's see, the 18th is Sunday. You had better get a port out done somehow by tomorrow I guess to leave some margin of safety.. And it had better by done by a carrier that will do it promptly.

Sorry it ended up being so tight time-wise.

Maybe cancel the cancel just in case to avoid the risk of losing your number if you cannot port. Maybe first call Recovery one last time first. Then assuming they still do not see the cancel, call Retentions and cancel it anyway (if it is even really there which I doubt, but let's assume it is there for safety's sake). You can just say you are having trouble porting out in time which is completely true. You can still port out in time anyway.

I signed up for the free year back in April when there was news the promotion might be ending. However, they are not letting me add a new line because the promotion has expired. They offered to add it as a Kickstarter plan for $25/month. Anyone else run into this problem? Wondering if I should call back and try to get a different rep or if it really did end and no new "free" lines can be added.

Yes a few people did get ignorant (or scheming) reps who said that, but they just had to call back a few times at most.

But most of us, including me, have added free lines recently with zero difficulty. It just depends on the rep but maybe also be assertive would be my suggestion - tell, do not ask.

So yes, just call back. You can mention that your account was pre-approved to add additional free lines at any time up to five.
