My 1 year free end on 7/30 and my billing cycle is on 8/12. I called the retention center last month on 7/15 and asked to switch to the kickstart for the next billing cycle. I just got the bill on 8/13 and it is $25 per month. Tax was around $4.50
Excellent!

Retentions is refusing direct conversion to KickStart to most people but giving it to a very few including evidently you!

I used to suggest in my suggested steps that people try getting it directly from Retentions, but so few people were succeeding that I took it out. (People were mostly getting sidetracked into long arguments with Retentions if they asked for it).

But it has worked for a few people. Maybe those scored as "highly desirable" by their credit/sales scoring system.

I changed to Tello this morning and its not showing up on my sprint account anymore so I contacted the Recovery via chat a few times and ask if they will give me KickStart but they keep on saying that I'm not eligible and I should come back in 45 days etc, any idea how to get quickly around this?

It is possible that waiting might help..

I thought that porting from Tello should work but I could be wrong.

Worst case you will have to get it onto TMobile etc first I guess.

It is possible that swapping the phone for another one on Tello might work. Really you just need to be able to port the number and activate the phone. Those are two different things. Can we tell which of them is the problem? Worst case it could be both, potentially one after the other unfortunately.

Part of the potential problem is that a port to Tello is not actually a port. It is just a transfer of responsibility on Sprint's records. So maybe they do not all get updated in the sane way they do in a formal port.

I was told by one representative that if I go to a sprint store and ask them to make it eligible for BYOD, I will be able afterwords to activate back my canceled account and activate it onto Kickstart, he also told me that I need to do it soon because if I wait a few days I wont be able to come back before 45 days.

That is far-fetched in my opinion.
.
It is eligible for BYOD anyway.

The issue has nothing to do with that. It is just that the line looks active to the system because it is on Tello. That is also why you are not eligible for Recovery.

If you want to solve it instantly just port to TMobile. I am sorry for the extra cost.

You think I gain anything from waiting till tomorrow or Sunday and it might take 24-48 hours to get out of sprint system or it wont help as long its on Tello?

Sure I would wait.

Also try it in other Sprint checkers and Ting checkers and try activating it as a new line in your existing (although now empty) Sprint account (which may offer you KickStart for it there) to see what insights we can get from those.
He might need dummy Imei (or use diifferent phone). His current phone is active with sprint(tello) and has PLBL flag is my guess. Not sure if sprint rep can do it. You would hope so because porting to tello was OK.

That's a darn good point. I did suggest he swap it off within Tello if he had a spare phone (or dummy IMEI).

I guess that may be the entire issue.

Now that I think about it, edog11 is right.

I think he is saying waiting will do no good and I agree with him on further thought.

Do you have another Sprint compatible phone you can swap on to Tello? Swaps are free on Tello.

I do not know if the phone number might still be another problem or not. But it would be a separate problem if it is. I think it might be ok if separated off from the phone because Kickstart (unlike the Free Plan) does not require a port from another carrier.

Once the phone's IMEI is off the Sprint network, the various checkers will instantly be able to flip the MVNO flag to allow it to go back onto Sprint postpaid.

I I think we can get confirmation that this is the problem from

If your new carrier is Sprint or a carrier that uses their towers, there are a couple details you should know. Sprint numbers can't transfer at the same time as the phone. If you're looking to transfer your phone number and the phone it is associated with at the same time, it can cause some issues. Your new carrier will have to supply a temporary device (often called a dummy device) to get around this issue. Alternatively, if you have an old Sprint phone on your account, that phone could also be used as a dummy device.
So there is a good summary of the issue.

Did you try calling Sprint KickStart sales and asking if they can help with that particular issue?

If I'm reading the terms right on the $200 MC offer "Allow 10-12 weeks after registration for Prepaid Card to arrive. Phone must be active for 60 days and remain in active and in good standing through the card fulfillment process.", you would need to have your phone on the service for about 3 months since the card fufillment process says to allow 10-12 weeks for MC card to arrive. My thinking is even if one didn't need phone service, you would still profit over $100 just by signing up for Kickstart even if you don't use it and then cancelling once you get the card.
What is the MC offer?
