Quote from Gogaa3 :
Just chatted with agent. Was I not supposed to ? Just sign up online and call in ? Transcript below:

Megan : Hi, I'm a Sprint sales specialist. Would you like any help today?
You : Hi, I would like to know if the Sprint free plan is live again
Megan : I'll be happy to help you with best promotions available with Sprint.
You : At the following link, a sprint agent has mentioned today that the plan is live and current:
You : https://community.sprint.com/t5/U..._BwE#M3586
You : This is the link from the sprint website
You : https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/of...mited.html
Megan : Ok.
You : However, the details mention "Savings until 4/30/2020", which is not a full year
Megan : Please allow me to check the details.
Megan : Let me ask a couple questions to make sure I can quickly help you get the assistance you need.
You : sure
Megan : May I ask whether you want Sprint personal account and Business account?
You : personal
Megan : Which carrier do you currently have for cell service?
You : h20 wireless
Megan : Thank you for your interest in Sprint!
Megan : Just to inform, the promotion in the above link is only available for the existing customers with Once year free plan in their existing line.
You : ok - the link actually mentions for other carriers AT&T and Verizon
Megan : Currently, the promotion is not yet available for new customers. However, we have a special promotion plan $25/mo + taxes with Autopay.
You : h2o is AT&T
Megan : Yes, you are correct but you will only be able to take the promotion if you a one year free plan with your Sprint existing line and want to add a new line by porting number from other carrier with your own device.

Chat is always the last to know. They have been wrong time and time again. What is happening is that they are (once again) giving you outdated information.

It has never been possible to sign up via Chat. Sprint Community is reliable. Sprint Chat is not.

Instead, Call 1-866-782-8777 and sign up by phone. That is the way the Wiki has always recommended signing up. Most of us prefer to sign up that way rather than online. However they may be closing/closed at this hour.

Yeah would feel more comfortable if end date showed 9/30/20.
Although this seemed to go active on a Friday and other free plan changes were Friday 7/13/18(plan lost HD and hotspot) and Friday 4/5/19(plan died).
....
I expect that my query to the Sprint Community rep will get that website discrepancy fixed right away. They are well-connected within Sprint and usually get things like that fixed quickly. Communications Accuracy is one of their mandates.

Well I will wait a few months before signing up again for the Free BYOD. If it's anything like the last one, it will last a good long stretch. No sense signing up now since I have another 10 months left on my present carrier and not worth it if end date is 4/30/20. Hopefully, the moderator on SD that has the inside connection to Sprint can get the facts on this.

Can someone help me understand this Sprint Drive thing? It looks like it's 100% free (with no strings attached), provides 4 free roadside assistance calls per year, but tracks your car and your driving style at all times. Am I missing anything?

If that's all it gives you, I'll likely skip it due to privacy issues, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something benefits.

Also, one per account, or per line? and what's the deadline for the offer?

Wait, what? The free BYOD plan is back? I just got switched to $25 Kickstart. Does this mean I'm hosed?

First, I would wait for a successful activation on the reopened free plan.to be fully reported.

Once that happens, to switch back to the gree plan, you would have to have either a different SSN or port all lines out for 45 days.

HOWEVER you could arguably be better off having "secured" kickstart long-term because it may well no longer be offered once/if the merger goes through in a few months. In other words, if you switch off it, you may no longer be able to get back onto it later after the free plan ends.

Ugh, this just makes me requestion everything just when I thought I was finally settled!

Where can I find details on the new offer? I don't see it in the wiki, and googling is getting me results on forums with people sort of talking about the fact it's back but I can't find direct info about it.

Btw, do you also have thoughts on the Sprint Drive thing I asked about? You always have such good info...

Device $0/month after $5/month bill credit for 24 months. Plan cost $10 per month for 2GB or $25 per month unlimited.

We are waiting on full details of the apparent re-opening of the free offer. It will not take long.

Consensus was that the Sprint Drive offer is no good but I do not remember all the details. It is not as you think as I recall.

I think most likely they are waiting to update the date on the page until their publicity and staff training apparatus has geared up.

Meanwhile they have enabled the offer so that they can claim to higher management that it is up and running. Probably it was a high level decision and managers were told to make it happen immediately..

I do not think we need to wait for the official updates and publicity. As long as it is up and running, that is enough.

As soon as one person confirms they have signed up and can confirm the expiry date they got, I would suggest we reactivate this thread. Maybe now.
