Thanks! Can't remember, can we pick up a SIM in store and then activate new phone by phone? Need to activate old phone asap before I leave today. Pretty sure that was doable in the past. Hopefully I can get SIM for free.
iwheela
If you have a Sprint sim in the old phone you should be good to go. If the new phone is Sprint branded it will likely come with a sim.

Only if the old phone and the new phone take the same sim which is not typical at all.

There are different sims for different phone capabilities and I am not referring to size of the sim.

I'm confused, please help. Can I get the Kickstart deal with the same SSN I used for my Free Year (expiring next week)?
I'm planning to port out and port back in the same day to get the $25 deal.
TIA!

Yes you can do that.

There is no problem (provided you make sure the port out us 100% complete before doing the port in)..

KickStart requires a new line, but not a new account/SSN..

Many OTHER offers (including the free plan RIP) are different.and do/did require a new SSN.

Thank you! I thought they'll cancel the account after I port out.

That is not something to worry about. If they do they do, if they do not they do not. It does not matter in this case since you are eligible either way. (I doubt they will by the way).

Another way of looking at it is, there are different meaning of the word "cancel".

Will porting out cancel your obligations under the old plan? Yes, which presumably is what you care about..

Will it delete the records? No.

They did create a new account when I ported back into kickstart. They did have to go back later and remove my social security from the old account to resolve credit problems.

Sorry, my post was probably confusing. I'm just trying to add a new line/number on my Free BYOD plan with a Nexus 6, and then port out original number that I signed up with.

On a side note, I firmly believe my Unlocked Samsung Note 9 was messed up by me at some point playing with the settings. There is NO way the Sprint network can be this bad. It has been a disaster since day one when I signed up. And yes, I did play with the settings, though not sure what I did wrong. If anything.

Most of the time in the DC suburbs, (Major metro area) I don't get a signal. And even when I do, I can't surf the internet at all. In addition, everyone, and I mean everyone says I sound like crap and break up while talking. Or the phone call just drops. On the road while traveling, there simply is zero signal for hundreds of miles. Just doesn't seem right.

I've reset the phone a number of times, but it's still the same.

I'm tired of dealing with it so I'm adding the second phone so I can port out my original line/number to Verizon.

IF I had the time, I'd get an actual Sprint Note 9 to see any difference. But time and money don't allow for that. I'm porting out tonight on main line. I'll check with the Nexus 6 that I'm adding tonight to see if the reception is better.

There is simply no way their network is this bad. Even with their rep. I had to mess up something playing around. Too bad as a free year saves a ton of money.

PS. Sprint store guys were cool. SIM cost $3.18 total. They said they can't touch the plan so I need to activate new phone over the phone with Sprint.

I got my first bill on kickstart and winback. It is 30 - 5 - 11.12 = 13.88 so I'm happy with it until winback credits end.

You were the pioneer on a lot of this so you got some of the best deals! It's too bad that particular offer is no longer available for Kickstart as I understand it..

You could have just done a phone swap but i'm sure you knew that.

Also curious if you contacted Sprint tech to see if they could help and maybe reset the line

You can try putting another service provider on your phone to test it.

Any idea what could happen on September 5? The following quote came from a verified 3rd party retail rep on Reddit [reddit.com].
Quote :
The current version and pricing of Kickstarter are valid through September 5th. After that, I've been told things will likely change. It was not specified to me exactly how it will change, if it's going away entirely or if the price is changing, etc.
So do it before the 5th if you can.
The 5th also happens to be the date the prepaid mastercard deal ends. With all the recent talk about the free year popping up again and then disappearing, I wonder if that's when we could see it go officially live again.
