Just port out to a non-Sprint carrier or mvno such as Ultramobile paygo sold at TMobile stores.
Then sign up for kickstart by calling the number ending in 8777 with port in.

It was not necessary to cancel autopay - you would not have been billed for the higher-priced plan for at least another month. Billing is in arrears (meaning for the prior month) as I recall. Be sure to pay what you owe (which may be $5 higher without autopay being on) another way or they may decline your account.
But my next bill due is 0$ than also they will add me 5$ ???

The bill will not be zero if they bill in arrears (postpaid).
But I think they will not charge it in any case if you port out in time.

How much does it cost to add a 6th line if you have 5 lines on the free BYOD plan? There's a deal for a free iphone 11 at costco + 200 GC if I add a line...but I have no idea if its a good deal bc they can't tell me how much the service would cost lol

You cannot normally add a sixth free line to the free plan.
You could add a Kickstart line for $25 a month but I doubt either a Kickstart or a free line would qualify for the offer.

Sigh. My year is ending this month. I didn't use it that much seeing it was my second phone but I'm going to miss it. Sigh.

My free year (well... really 2) ends on the 30th. I considered a lot of things but ultimately just ordered a Visible SIM. With the gift card offer and referral, it's basically like getting three months free. If I have difficulties as some have, I can just port back into Kickstart if it's still around. I'm also in Seattle with the highest taxes and fees in the country so Sprint Kickstart and Visible (with included taxes and fees) are about the same cost.

Go to a corporate owned store. They have them. I guess call first and confirm they have Ultramobile paygo sims in stock to be safe. Also those stores will often help you do the port then and there, according to posts in this thread

If you have time you could order https://www.ebay.com/itm/PreLoade...154428180? which is not paygo but a regular plan. (Officially it is not supposed to be used for just porting).

Some people have posted that you can get a TMobile sim from an Apple store and use that directly..

I have a friend who has their own Sprint account with Unlimited Basic. I am currently on the free plan ending soon. If I port out after my free plan and port in to my friend's account, I might be charged an activation fee. However, I was wondering if I could just transfer responsibility of my lines to my friend's account. Would this not result in an activation fee?

$200 not $250 and you probably will not get it for Kickstart but you can try.

The $250 one was a Recovery offer that definitely does not apply to Kickstart

Transfer of responsibility is to transfer an account and plan to someone else, nor transfer a line to someone else's plan.

But he may be able to get the $200 offer for adding a line if you port it out first to a non-Sprint carrier.
$200 not @250. I guess it is possible they could deny it on the grounds it is not really a new line but I have not heard of them using that reason.

https://www.sprintpromotionshub.c...NEWLINE719

Also I would ask if they will waive the activation fee and they may on request.
