My girlfriend has a free year of service that is coming due we want to port that line out of sprint and then port it back in under her name at best buy because they have a deal where you can get 200 dollar off the unlocked samsung galaxy note 10+
You can port out and in, but these offers usually work only if you port into a regular plan (not KickStart or the free plan). Best Buy sells Kickstart so you can ask them if the offer works with kickstart and they will know.

For those who want to port in to Sprint (or any other carrier) for the Kickstart promo or any other promo that don't care about their phone # and have extra time, If I'm reading this right Number Barn has a "$2 Port-Away Plan". You purchase a number through them and port it to another carrier for $2. Keep in mind that these are wireline/landline numbers so the port will take several business days. Especially useful for Google Voice users.
https://www.numberbarn.com/purchase-and-port

Edited to Add: Re-reading this. I think the total price is $7 ($5 to purchase a number and $2 to port it away)

So...I have been having an ongoing issue with Sprint. Long story short is that they promised certain discounts, didn't give them, then ignored me.

I tried every recommended way to get help with no results. I tried one last time, sending an email a few days ago to "executive services" or something like that saying "look, I'm trying to be patient, but just honor your promises already." Yesterday they emailed me a PDF letter saying they're terminating my account for "violating terms of service," I'm banned from all Sprint stores, and they'll call the police if I even attempt to contact any Sprint employee in any way.

I was never rude, I never made any threats, I certainly can't think of any violations I could have made, etc.

My family paid over $1,000 getting Sprint-compatible phones because of this deal, and now that money is just in the trash and I'm not even allowed to ask what terms I supposedly violated?

If anyone has any idea how to reach an actual, reasonable human being at Sprint headquarters, WITHOUT GETTING THE POLICE CALLED ON ME, I'd really appreciate it. I cannot believe this!

Even better: does anyone know of any similar or better deals at other providers? I think I know the answer...
I wondered if it was someone on here:

Easiest way is to buy a t-mobile sim from ebay ($1.99). Port-out to $10 internet only plan. Port-in to kick-start. Out of pocket cost is $11.99, everything can be done online.
My Free BYOD plan was getting over on 30th sept so i ported out on 22nd sept to Tmobile Metro , again today when i called retention team, they allowed me to get 25$ with autopay kickstart plan, but when i login in my sprint account it shows me $40 and also my bill cycle havent been changed, as i came back to sprint today so next month 26th should be, but it shows me 22nd Oct which is my previous, the customer rep clearly said me it is 25$ for eveything but than in my account it shows me $40. Anyone having the same issue?

You do not normally call Retentions to sign up for Kickstart after porting out from the free plan. You just call Telesales to sign up in the regular way at 866 782 8777. It is not necessary to involve Retentions. As a matter of fact getting Kickstart after the free plan is a loophole and would not ordinarily be allowed by Sprint if they are officially aware of it because you are bypassing a prohibition. Usually Retentions has refused requests to switch from Free Plan to Kickstart.

However Retentions (844-382-3317) is good at honoring any promises they do make (which they document carefully on your account notes) so if it was Retentions (844-382-3317) that you called, and they quoted you $25, I believe they will be able to fix it up fairly readily so you do get that if you call them back.

Now, Recovery is not the same thing as Retentions. If you mean you called Recovery (aka Winback or Come back to Sprint), that is a completely different department, but if they promised you $25, they should be able to look into it too although they are not as powerful as Retentions and it may be a little harder in that case.

Fimally, if it was regular customer service that you called to do it, then it may be harder to fix because they are pretty sloppy, but give it a try..

Hopefully you can get it sorted out but if there are problems you could port out (again) and this time sign up the regular way by calling 866 782 8777. (However fixing it up would be better to avoid activation fees and other costs).

Has anyone had success unlocking Boost Moto E5 Play after using on Sprint BYOD?

After year of service, requested domestic and international unlocks from Sprint Technical Support and received email acknowledgment that it was done, but despite many tries, phone itself is not unlocking. When I go to Settings > System > System Update > UICC Unlock, I still get the message: "Your device is locked to only support your Sprint UICC", and if I try inserting other-carrier SIMs, the message: "Invalid SIM card".

I have done factory reset, ##72786##, Update PRL, Update Profile, UICC Unlock, while connected to wifi and to strong Sprint signal from Sprint tower. I have even forced Setting > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Preferred Network Type to LTE/CDMA to see if that does anything.

I have also spoken twice with Sprint Technical Support, who reconfirmed that unlocks have been made on their end, and had me go through variations of the steps above, including after canceling and then re-initiating the unlocks on their end.

Has anyone been able to overcome this scenario? Any tips or workarounds?

I don't know what's more disturbing -- that you're having this problem or that you haven't gotten a response from anyone in several hours. I don't believe anyone has reported a successful unlock on the Boost E5 Play, and I don't own one myself. People HAVE reported success unlocking the G6 Play. As you're probably aware, Boost phones aren't *supposed* to be allowed on Sprint postpaid unless they've been on Boost for at least a year. Many got on during a period Sprint was being lax with enforcement. But in order to get on, the phones had to be re-sku'd as something else. For example, the G6 Play got re-SKU'd as a Z2 Play Open. I assume your service is still active or Sprint wouldn't be giving you the time of day. Can you check your dashboard and see what type of phone it says you have? If it says Boost, it was never properly re-SKU'd. But then I wonder how the heck it ever got on in the first place.

Since it shows $25 a month to them, I think it should be ok then!. Actually that is very encouraging.

It should be $40 less $5 autopay credit less $10 BYOD credit so the $40 is correct, it is just a question of when/whether the two credits show up.

I agree I would just leave it for now in that case.

Officially Retentions, not technical support, is in charge of unlocks, so I would give them a call at 844-382-3317. Some people who have done that have succeeded where they previously failed with other departments.

(Ultimately there is only so much you can do, as laalaa99stl notes, because it is a Boost phone which is theoretically subject to Boost rules, not to Sprint's, but I think there is a good chance of success still).

I reached out to Sprint to cancel my plan since it was on an extra phone that I don't use. Retention told me that could extend my BYOD plan for another year; meaning a similar plan for $0 a month excluding government surcharges.

I was then transferred to a different department for this new plan. The new rep. said they usually don't extend this plan for another year but she can ask her supervisor since this promise was noted on my account.

She said she can tell if it's approved in two weeks.

My question is now whether this is a ploy by Sprint to delay my cancellation so that I might forget about it?

No it is legit.

Some (few) people have got it.

Sometimes it can get mixed up though, since it is not a standard procedure to set it up, so if any problems do arise, call back Retentions at 844-382-3317. One person here had some difficulties because it has been entered wrong at first but they straightened it out.

ALSO ask them if there are any conditions such as doing a phone upgrade. If there are, it is not worth it in my opinion.

Well there was a lot more to it in one such case I know of (I cannot be sure that it was the same incident) that definitely would not apply here. That other person was hostile to Sprint from the beginning even before the incident and looking for trouble in my opinion.

Sprint is not going to ban you unless they think they have evidence that you engaged in fraud or harassment. Now, Sprint could be in the wrong wrong in that other case - I do not know. In that other case, the person was asking for a lot more than is the case here.

All the carriers, including Sprint, tolerate and tacitly encourage dishonest hard-sell and misrepresentation in their sales practices in my opinion. But I do not see that for this poster in this case.

I believe this person here will get the free added year. I definitely think that there will not be anything of the sort you mention. But if problems do arise, they should call back Retentions at 844-382-3317, not other departments.

But your post is a good summary - I agree with it.
