1. What is the best way to cancel the Sprint service? I have had bad experience with Sprint 15 years ago where they charged me for two plans on one phone number! Just need to cover myself if something goes wrong.

2. How much time does it take to port sprint number to Google voice?

3. My free 1 year plan ends 9/30 but billing cycle is 9/12-10/12. I have received email that clearly states 10/1 onward, I will be charged $60/month + tax.
Today, I chatted with the Sprint rep and was told, I wont be charged anything if cancel the service before or on 9/12.
I was under impression that I will be charged pro-rated:

1. 8/12-9/30 -> Free plan
2. 10/1-10/12 -> $60 +plus plan pro-dated.

Am I thinking wrong?

Best way to cancel is to port out. You can check afterward that all is clear.

Google Voice port can take a couple of days but is usually faster.

You should be zero charge as long as you are off by 10/12 according to my interpretation of what people's experience here has been and experts on that here (which does not include me on this subject) have posted.

However all I am doing is summarizing what I think others have posted here because I am not going to quote them by name. I have no personal experience with this. Hopefully they will post themselves which will supersede what I am posting. Their consensus was that Sprint will not pro-rate in this case. There may be Sprint discretion involved too. If you search "pro-rate" or "prorate" in this thread maybe the original posts will show up.

Various Sprint reps give various different answers as you found out.

Data points:

Also did the exact thing yesterday. Very easy all online.
Just make sure you write down the T-Mo account # and the pin you create when you register in case you do not get a T-Mo email.
I ported a line directly to T-Mo from Ting during the online process and then ported this # to the Sprint free plan. Porting took a several hours.
Number was originally with Ting but since Ting is a Sprint reseller it was not eligible for the Sprint free plan, it had to be ported out of Ting.

Activated a new line on the Free BYOD plan.
Activation fee of $30 was NOT waived with rep & supervisor.
Not eligible for the $200 add new line promo.
Porting to Sprint from T-Mo took several minutes.

All these cell companies have gotten wise to this porting game and now they've made it expensive to use their prepaid systems and sims to port #s in and out.
I think AT&T charges $25+ now and the above T-Mo port is $12, and Sprint now charges the $30 activation fee.
If you port out (to T-Mobile) and back to Sprint (Kickstart) within 24 hours, you can get a Sprint $50 reactivation credit per line. Basically 2 free months of Kickstart.

Call Sprint Recovery at 877-858-3779 and ask for the 24 hour port back to Sprint reactivation credit of $50 per line.

That's a great tip for people in these final few days of the current $25 Kickstart offer!

Check here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...?context=3
for someone who just got the Kickstart $30 activation fee waived by asking for it!

So ask them to waive it before you complete signing up. Tell them you will hang up unless they do (and tell them no thanks and do hang up if they refuse).!

Such offers are made selectively but it probably is not worth it if you have to do a phone upgrade to get it, because it is probably based on service credits against the cost of the plan that will drop off after a year with you left stuck in a paid plan then with high payments that you cannot get out of without paying off the phone.

Some people have reported getting such offers without needing to upgrade a phone.

Also, there is NO activation fee when calling the recovery line to port back. That's another $30 in "savings."

Has anyone successfully been able to add a line to their BYOD plan recently? I saw someone posted earlier this month that they were unable to. I have a plan that ends 4/30 and want to switch some lines to it.

Did it a couple of days ago and others here have done it recently.

Read this and the reply posts by Comintel and others to avoid the $30 activation fee:

I have same issue and concern. I called and spoke to Sprint rep today and she said that I would not be charged prorated amount between 10/1 and new rate starts on billing cycle start date. I'm not sure want to risk it with 5 lines,

I am on Sprint's BYOD plan that is up today. Has anyone tried moving to any other carrier using an ICCID to switch and then back on any other sprint promo (kickstart)? I wonder if it will work.

Dozens of people have done that. The thread is full of recent posts doing that, almost immediately prior to your post.. (It is not related to ICCID though as such - you will need to port the phone number out and back in),.

See this post https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=130773085&postcount=41952 for the coolest way to do it that can give you credits and free activation.

Note the Kickstart $25 offer may end Oct 3.
