So...I got a bizarre email today from Sprint saying that they are terminating my account in 30 days and that if I call to ask why (or contact any Sprint employee in any way) they will terminate the account immediately AND CALL THE COPS!

I thought it had to be a mistake, but after some googling, I'm seeing others with the same issue out there. I've seen others who posted about it accused of doing "bad things" with their accounts. They've denied it, and so do I.

The common thread seems to be that it happens to accounts where Sprint messed something up and we asked for it to be fixed. And yes, all the other people reporting it confirm they also received the threat about calling the police!

I thought about trying to start a new account under a family member's name then port our numbers out and back in under that, but the letter includes something about how they'll immediately cancel the lines if we try to "switch the liability to another Sprint account" or something like that.

Given that this enrollment period apparently ends on Oct. 3, I guess I have no choice but to be done with Sprint. Anyone have recommendations for a similarly priced deal? Or know someone in Sprint management who can fix this without Sprint calling the freaking cops on me just for asking?

I can't believe this crap.
Sorry to hear that. Sometimes things just go awry without rhyme or reason. Emails can always be misinterpreted.

Personally, I would just write it off and write Sprint off too.

You could contact the BBB or your state Utilities Commission and ask them to intervene. I have heard Sprint does respect the BBB a huge amount. Either the BBB or your State Utilities Commission might be able to work out a compromise.

Sprint might trace the lines to any account you move them to. I do not know if that is the case but, based on the wording you quoted, they might. For that reason, since it is impossible to know if that would be the case or not, personally I think I would move the lines elsewhere for now at least and wait for a response from the BBB or State Utilities Commission if you want to bother with that.

How about the Tello Value plan, say 4 GB and unlimited minutes for $19 a month? That includes hotspot too! (However it would be slightly complicated to get back onto Sprint directly from Tello later - but still possible - if that did arise - because they are a Sprint MVNO).

Sprint/TMO claims they will continue to enable MVNO's to have low pricing if the merger goes through. I do not see pricing going up all that much for a few years but I could be wrong.

Agreed and I would go for that too!

If the merger falls through or appears to be about to do so at some point that could be one point where Sprint gets desperate enough again......

As you found out, there is no way to upgrade to Kickstart permitted by Sprint that they will discuss prior to porting out.

However, you can port out to TMobile prepaid and then you will be eligible for KickStart by porting back in.

Sprint will NOT confirm this to you in advance, only after you have ported out.

Please see recent posts for MANY examples.

Also KickStart may go up by $10 starting October 4 or may be suspended or extended. We cannot be sure as Sprint will not say until then..
Sprint is losing postpaid subscribers by the boatloads. But, Sprint management is the worst. Still, I'm not ready to abandon my free BYOD lines. I'll take my chances that $25 Kickstart hangs around for a while. If these pinheads have a calendar, it's still the Fall (Raking Season) until December 21.

Yes you have a good point about raking the leaves in their ad.
I was thinking that myself - Fall is far from over!

Also even if they do suspend Kickstart or raise the price, that may be only temporary ahead of a "special" for the holidays.

I am not abandoning my Free plan either. But I have other alternatives to Kickstart that are not applicable to others.

More specifically, you add ,DUN to the the end of the lte APN. Or add a new APN like that. People should see XDA for details as it can be tricky in some cases.
Which phone are you using? I don't see an option to change Sprint APN on my Pixel phone. Confused

"Kickstart Extended"

According to
revik2 - Verified Employee - Corporate
on reddit, referring to a question whether the Kickstart offer was expiring on 10/3, as had been the original announced intention (on the Sprint home page nonetheless).

"The current offer has been extended to a later date."

Normally Revik is authoritative - he is at a high level within Sprint and is treated on that forum as the final word..

So I take it that the current Kickstart offer has indeed been extended at current prices, with no increase for now (despite the original home-page announcement that it would end on 10/3). Obviously the final proof will be seen tonight / overnight.

Kickstart at current prices. That was in my original header "Kickstart Extended" which did not get included in your quote. Maybe the header does not show in some ways of reading this forum.

I will post-edit it to copy the header into the body in case you need to see it there.

The context in that exchange was that the original $15 Kickstart would be a nice option to have back, as indeed it would be.

That is just hypothetical.

I could see it conceivably offered in certain circumstances, conceivably as a flash sale at some point as Desi mentioned, but it is not an option yet. That original relatively-brief $15 offer has never been re-opened. So far.
