Quote from askinanight :
Chatted again a couple days later and got a very helpful agent compared to the first two. She confirmed I was signed up for the $25/line and even gave me the date and time of the original call from when I first signed up for it. I told her my current bill and last bill were charged at $35/line, so she spoke to her supervisor and got permission to take $10 off per line on both of those bills. The first credit already showed up on my current bill but I'm still waiting for the credit for my last bill...she said it should be an additional credit on my current bill and should be posted by today. We'll see if it actually happens.

Like I said she was super helpful and seemed to know what she was doing. Hopefully I get the other credit and my bill is correct from here on out.

My suggestion for anyone else dealing with this would be to explain the situation and ask for a credit for your overcharged bills. If the agent can't do it I suggest ending the chat and trying again with a different agent. It's just like any other profession, some are just phoning it in but others want to help and will go the extra mile.
Based on the other user's experience I would avoid escalating this issue to a supervisor or anyone else besides the initial agent. The first agent you speak with should be able to help if they know what they're doing.
Perfect and you handled it very well!

Commenting more generally for others, I agree that it is best to exhaust the possibility that each level provides fully (and also of course just call back). This gives you many kicks at the can. If you go right to the top, you only get one kick at the can and it is make it or break it so it is actually a mistake strategically. Also they can be tougher at the top because they are very mindful of precedent and legalities.

Also of course a positive approach rather than a negative one really helps. And avoiding language like "fraud" and "scam" which quite possibly will get an account terminated. (That said, I can perfectly understand that people get upset and can say some things that might be interpreted as abusive and get them in trouble)..

Well, I got some of the FreedomPop GSM 12mo 1GB/mo SIMs for cheap. I guess that's where I'm going for myself and my son. I know I will need more data. I just don't know where else to go. I think the Ultra Mobile deal was the best for more data, but I missed the $101 deal

Yes I think they made that change for users of all plans according to posts in Reddit (ie it is not specific to free plan users)..

It is hard to imagine what the supposed justification would be for the new policy. They must have something in mind, I suppose. I guess it could actually be well intentioned - some level of management might want to find out (or prove) WHY so many people are cancelling it, by asking customers if there was excessive sales pressure to sell it, with a plan to take remedial measures with Sales if that is the case. Obviously many people will have a far more suspicious view of the likely motivation.

But they'll still have to remove it just as readily when you call. People can just say the truth - that they felt pressured by the sales person into saying ok but did not really want it.

It any case, thanks for letting everyone know that they would have to call in now to cancel Sprint Complete!

You're just so wholesome. In my mind, there's literally no way they did it for any reason other than to make it harder to remove, in the hopes that more people will pay for a month or two out of sheer laziness or forgetfulness.

Good on you for giving them the benefit of the doubt!

I forgot, when we add an additional line to an existing Free Boyd account, does that new line share the same billing period as well?
I know the offer has the same expiration date as the original line.

I noticed this too! Does this also apply to their regular plans? Or is the no charge for first partial month just for this free plan?

I think since there is a line item for plan for partial month that it would charge a paid plan a prorated amount for the partial first month. It's just on free plan that the prorated amount would be $0 because the plan is $0. The surcharge may not be added for partial month.
I haven't experienced adding paid plan so just my opinion.

Also don't confuse with final month where there is no proration for left over days in billing cycle. AKA charged for full bill cycle when closing/porting out.

Hi, can you please clarify what this means exactly that you wrote?

My BYOB free plan expires end of month 1/2020, I want to make sure I port out in a way so I do not get hit w/ full charges, etc. Appreciate if you could explain your post and what would be the "correct way" to leave the BYOB plan so that I do not pay any extra $$$$. I plan on porting out to Ultra. Thanks!!

What clarification do you require? edog was fairly explicit. If you're over by a single day, you pay for the whole month. The only vagary is the date your billing cycle ends on. You technically have until that day, but most people would port out by the end of the month (and even a few days before that) out of an abundance of caution.

My free plan ends on 11/30 -- my last billing cycle ended yesterday 10/27-11/26 (still waiting for bill to generate)

Sounds like my free plan should be good until end of my 11/27-12/26 cycle since Sprint doesn't prorate plans but I'll probably port out by 11/30
