It seems sprint is still not charging me the full amount even though my free plan was set to expire on Nov 30. When I go to change my plan, it still show $0.00 plan as my current plan (with a note Savings until 11/30/19Wink.

My recent bill from 11/25 - 12/25 was also based on the free plan.

Anyone else in the same boat? Should I port over the lines now or wait till they start charging?

Quote from ifelseyesno :
I chatted with Sprint 3 times in the last 60 days regarding the last date of my free plan. and for some reason the reps all told me keep an eye out as Sprint might extend the free plan. I was very skeptical until you post this. I hope it's true. will find out next month. also can you please update us on your 1.25 bill? thanks!
This makes strategic sense on the part of Sprint and the merged T-Mo/Sprint company.
It's far cheaper to keep all or as many subscribers to the free plan until such time the merger becomes effective which will be months, up to a year, after the merger is approved, if it is.

The marketing costs to acquire new customers are very expensive and it makes business sense to keep the tens or hundreds of thousands of the free plan subscribes in the company and attempt to transition them later to a new offer plan.
Depending on the then offer it is more likely that a certain percentage will stay with the merged company.
So it's to the benefit of Sprint and the merged company to keep these free plan subscribers put for the moment rather than facing a wholesale loss of all these subscribers and potential future customers on April 30 or sooner.

Given how the competition is now heating up with the Verizon Visible $25/line plan, and others, it is very likely that when the time comes the then Sprint/T-Mo offers will be pretty reasonable.
So it's probably wise to keep an eye on this possibility before one jumps ship too soon.

Please, also read the posts by various respectable posters following those posts above by orangetiger and ifelseyesno.

Hi, I got this email. Do you got any such mail? I am also wondering when will they start charging and should I port-out now?

I would port out by 1/31 to be conservative (or your plan month end date next after that to be more aggressive) but you can call Retentions at 844-382-3317 to get confirmation if you want. (I would not even bother chatting or calling regular support because those groups, unlike Retentions, are not specialized enough to be authoritative and can only give you guesses).

People have definitely been billed for going over into the billable period and in my opinion this is still the normal behavior. I would not be swayed by one single report of someone who seems to not have been charged. In my opinion that would just be a glitch on that one person's account, probably because it got messed up by rep handling or some such. If they were going to extend the free period intentionally it would not be without notice.

I would suggest doing it via the number shown at https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...print.html as they will usually waive the activation fee that way (although you will not get the $100 or $250 in the case of KickStart).

That also totally legitimizes it and there is no need to wait. Once it shows up as eligible in their system when you call in you can do it. I personally might wait until tomorrow but some people are doing them same day.

You could have used the trick in the wiki and no need to port out and back in.

I think that will cost you a $30 activation fee that you would not have paid by calling in for the Come Back to Sprint offer, and also possibly have involved an additional credit check if they created a new account (hopefully they reused the old one), but I realize that it may have been convenient for you to take care of it that way.
