Free plan ends for me 03/31.. I thought T-Mobile was the way to go, but nope. They are just as much money as everyone else. I am talking a single line only.

I concluded I will be going with Verizon. Yup...Verizon is now not overpriced anymore. Just a few more dollars than AT&T and T-Mobile. Does not make sense to go with lesser service quality for a few dollars saved

Verizon: Cheapest is $70 with Auto-Pay + taxes
T-Mobile: Cheapest is Essentials is $60 with Autopay + Taxes (making it $70)
AT&T cheapest is $65 with Autopay + taxes

Hey guys, another update. I just received my January 2020 bill, just like the dec bill, it is $0 too. Like I said earlier, my plan was set to expire by end of Nov, 2019.

Hope that helps. Can I get some thumbs up now? Smilie
You got it!

But your bill should not be $0 IF you're still on the free plan. It should be around $3-$5 for the fees/taxes.
If it's $0 some other Sprint factor may be at play here.

Perhaps Sprint is doing some strategic thinking here.
Check this post for reference:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=134512151&postcount=42634

Now, has anyone here LATELY whose free plan has expired have the same experience as Orangetiger, or have been billed the regular $60 rate after the free plan's expiration, in which case Orangetiger's experience may be a Sprint fluke, and knowing Sprint that's entirely possible.

If Orangetiger's experience is the new normal, bailing out of Sprint's free plan may be premature.

Have you checked out VISIBLE which is really VERIZON?
It has been described here in the past couple of months and there are other deatailed threads about it here on Slickdeals, just search for it.

Here is one VISIBLE/VERIZON thread:

Apart from this, there have been zero reports of this here or on other Sprint forums.

If it were the new normal, we would have had more reports than one in my opinion.

Also OrangleTiger has so far not responded as to what plan name is shown on their bill now, or what expiry date is shown if it is still listed as the Free Plan. The poster has also apparently not called Retentions at 844-382-3317 to confirm this supposed extension. If it were real, it would be confirmable, wouldn't it?

In the past, people have been unaware they may sometimes have 13, 14, or 15 months free on the one year plan because of the way they used a fixed set of end dates. It could just be that again. That would be my guess.

We did have one other person claim they had an extra free month but they said they had a stated plan end date of the 25th of a month, which shows they were confused.. They did not reply further when I asked them to check. People get confused by these dates all the time, very easily and very understandably.

Thanks for info. I checked out that thread. I will pass on Visible. No 3G, and very slow. Appears to be like MINT (t-mobile).. Uses the scraps of the parent company. Its still $40. I definitively need 3G and LTE is not everywhere. I also noticed it throttles all Music Streaming. I stream di.fm all the time in the car..so, another bad. If this was $25/month I would try it. but $40 month seems like another MetroPC to me..and MetroPCS was so bad for me...

Update: Appears its pretty easy to get $25 month plan. I will go with Visible then. If its too slow, ill just cancel. Thanks and repped!

You can get it for $25 a month by joining a (mostly) Visible-supervised group of four here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/VisiblePartyPay/ The group just has to stay full to get the best rate.

BUT, as you say, it suffers from heavy de-prioritization in many areas that have congestion because the Verizon network is operating near capacity and prioritizes users in tiers with Visible at the bottom, below Verizon mvnos. Some people do love it. I recently tried a Verizon MVNO and would not even use that, because I see the speeds fall to low values during busy periods here.

I do not see that congestion with Sprint or even its mvnos here in R;leigh NC.

On the other hand, it obviously has wider coverage areas than Sprint.

I also see congestion lowering speeds on TMobile MVNO's here.

Sprint and its MVNOs are actually best for maintaining decent speeds where I live in my opinion. On the other hand, the other carriers and even their MVNOs have fewer problem areas generally and indoor coverage in more places.

Brt all of this varies a lot by area.

they always get you by displaying the lowest price...but its always with 4+ phones. All the carriers do this I consider false advertising. These prices are never for single lines.

It has been described as not subject to change for "a long long time" if ever by Sprint executives.

3 years minimum under the Sprint-TMobile merger "you can keep keep your plan" commitment.

People who signed up at $15 a month at the start still have that rate.

It is far easier and safer with Visible, that's all. You give your payment info and personal info only directly to Visible and your maximum liability is $40 a month even if your entire group falls apart and you make no effort to find replacements.

Thanks for this info. I see Reddit has a sub where you can join parties. I will see if I can join a party for 4 and then I will try this for $25.. Im guessing this is no contract, so I can jump ship if its bad.

Exactly right - that's the link I posted.
Check for Visible "free phone upgrade" or "free debit card" and referral promos too.

AT&T PREPAIDSM 8GB Online Offer
$25 monthly when you prepay $300 for 12 months

https://www.att.com/buy/wireless/plandetails

Looks interesting to me. Assuming AT&T coverage is good, are the speeds for prepaid better than MVNOs? Are there any downsides with this except the prepay?
