They auto charged me a couple days in advance of the new billing period- but I ported out before the start of the new billing period. Easiest way to get my money back?

Sprint sends a bill at beginning of the current bill cycle, is due(autopay) about 23 days into current bill cycle and covers service for current bill cycle. So you are not owed any money back because you used service from beginning of bill cycle to port out date.

edog11 is right but I would at least give it a try anyway by calling Account Services at 844-382-3317 and tell them you would like your money back under the 30- day money back satisfaction guarantee. Odds are perhaps questionable but no harm trying.

They said they ported out before end of bill cycle so the new plan price never was/won't be billed assuming end date was 1/31/20. So $0 prorated is $0 and even if they want back 7 days or less for tax+surcharge we're talking less than $1.50.
Disclaimer they didn't mention how much auto charge was so assume free plan rate.
That is quite true if their end date was 1/31/20

I assumed this was their first paid month. Otherwise I do not know why they would bother posting for such trivial amounts, as you mention.

Perhaps they will clarify.

Oh I forgot for a moment that you are actually auto-paying for the billing period you are in.

Unlimited Kickstart is now $25 when you add a new line and buy a phone.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp-...6893842336

"Requires new line and purchase of an unlocked or one-time payment phone".

It's interesting that they're explicitly mentioning data deprioritization now. We always suspected as much, but I don't think they were as up-front about it before. Also. $30 activation fee. Also. $50 is the cheapest handset on that list (the Moto E6). So I guess start with that, and then swap in the good phone you probably already have. I think Visible is still the better way to go (with no deprioritization and higher streaming resolutions). No expiry is given on the BB offer. I think most of us will still wait'n'see what bone New TMo will throw us.

Wooohooo... I think I will leave my SWAC for this, don't need the extra benefits of that plan...! Or maybe go with Visible...

The first statement is correct.

In the second case, again it seems you will still not be charged for use prior to the end of the cross-over billing cycle, but relatively few have risked it for the few days extra so we do not have enough reports to be 100% sure.
Thanks. Very helpful.

You're right that one would not be responsible if one ports out before the next billing period starts, BUT IF BILLED, then it would require calling Sprint and going thru the hassle of requesting a refund/credit back to the credit card and that can take a while.
Most people would not want to go thru this hassle for a few more days of free service.

You're also right that this is the simple explanation of not being billed/charged since one would still be paid in the free service period.
As I stated above, this may be a bug or an intentional billing in the Sprint system to avoid customer support complaints and charge backs to credit cards both of which are costly to the merchant.
This would result in some more free days of service, but is it worth it?

But, one should not be pushing the limits on this issue if one values his time/aggravation in arguing with Sprint reps requesting refunds/credits.

Hopefully, Sprint/T-Mo may make some extra special effort by the end of April not to lose all these expiring free accounts, especially those with multiple lines.
For instance, last fall Sprint had a special offer of $90 for 5 lines for one year that those currently with multiple lines may find it attractive enough to stay for at least another year. By then the Sprint/T-Mo merger will be effective and the entire cell provider market competitive picture will be very different.
This is so true and sprint would WANT their money. Even if you called and get a credit its not certain if you really get the credit. Sometimes it just means that the CSR is tired of talking to you and wants to hang up. LOL There were a lot of users in the beginning who was promised a credit but still received the charge when they received their bill. Not worth it. To sprint they will say we gave you a free service and you don't want to pay a month of service that you neglected to cancel. Even if you take them to court you will lose as they were generous to provide you with free service.

Sprint claims the deprioritization on Kickstart applies only after 50 GB of use in a month. https://community.sprint.com/t5/N...alse#M4842 They state that it does have video streaming throttling which may be what people experience. It is true that quite a few people say it is de-prioritized even below 50 GB. Sprint could be using misleading wording or other subterfuge -

Sprint is very vague with its wording and often omits mention of the 50 GB qualification. For example, here is the description of the SWAC plan (and that is not deprioritized below 50 GB): "Save with the Sprint Wireless Advantage Club. Advantage Club customers get Unlimited talk, text, and data for only $xx a month with Autopay. Plus, get 25% off selected accessories. HD video streams up to 1080p, music up to 1.5 Mbps, gaming streams up to 8 Mbps. Data deprioritation during congestion. Other monthly charges apply**" (I changed the price to xx to avoid a lot of questions about how to get SWAC from other people who read this casually but would not be eligible to get it).

As to Visible, many are indeed very happy with it. However, as Desi mentions, in some areas people get no throughput at peak times and it is unusable. Also it has high ping times and different network routing from regular Verizon with only a few points of presence in the whole country. The Visible subreddit is full of people in both camps.

I'm thinking of switching my Sprint autopay credit card NOW to a virtual card number (generated from the exact same card account) so I can simply lock that virtual number immediately after the April payment is charged and definitely avoid further charges.

That might give me the courage to try and ride out an extra free month in May...

Sprint is postpaid service (not prepaid) so you're still responsible for any bill due -- if you don't pay then it can eventually go into collections and mess up your credit
