Based on experts suggestion, I will take a final call soon. As of now, one alternate is Tello below plan.

Is there any chances for extension of free plan or some offers to retain big user group after merger?. My plan end date is 3/31/3020.
My personal opinion would be that anything of that specific nature is likely only if the merger falls through or gets substantially delayed.

On the other hand, there is already the BestBuy Kickstart price now at $25 with a discounted ($100 off) phone, for which

That plan is not built with a promotional price. That is the price with autopay for the life of the plan..... If you are in a 5G coverage area and have a 5G phones, yes you can get 5G service with that plan.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...dium=web2x

Also for those who can have more lines or can get SWAC (you have to get a personal referral from an employee) or a corporate-liable business account, you can lease an S10 free.

So there are indeed great deals out there and may well be more.

The current merger target date is April 1, contingent on California not blocking it by then and on another judge's approval.

Dish-Boost will start up relatively soon after the merger and provide some competitive startup offers I think that may trigger other offers then.

I think Best Buy normally prices week to week.
I used to log on every Sunday to see what the phone specials for that week were and what got dropped.

Thanks for the valuable report.

It is said that there is normally no prorating at the end of service. So I would not count on pro-rating except possibly by discretionary adjustment. So I would suggest call Account Services at 844-382-3317 right away (I would suggest do not call another number) and tell them it was an accident that you went over etc etc and see if they will adjust it for you.

You can also tell them that you want to invoke the Sprint 30-day satisfaction refund guarantee on the new paid plan that went into effect with respect to their pro-rating policy . I cannot guarantee that this will work but it seems it should.

Win or lose with Account Services, you need to make sure that your request gets typed into your account notes as early as possible so that if you need to escalate later on, you can prove that you asked on time. If you let it go beyond 30 days you will be outside the 30-day satisfaction period. So whatever happens when you call, call back again a couple of days later to confirm that it has been approved. Do not let them keep stalling. Or Chat can read the notes for you. (But I would not chat to begin with as you have to talk to Account Services directly to get meaningful Sprint commitments - other departments just play around at the edge of issues and are unreliable).
I called account service number and had been denied for Sprint 30-day satisfaction guarantee as the line is with them for more than 30 days. CSR told me that it does not apply for change of plan.
Then I asked if the bill can be pro-rated as I used only partial service period. CSR told me that bills are charged in full for billing period.

I actually misread some discussion in this forum and took it casually. Also I thought in worst case scenario, I will be responsible for pro-rated amount. But now I have to pay $70+(including tax) for going over for few days. Lesson learnt.

In the Best Buy Kickstarter thread a supposed BB rep stated 4/2. Take it for what it's worth as things can change. 4/3 is a Friday and Sprint has made plan changes on Friday's in the past. Unfortunately this is well to known with this free plan 4/4/19 was RIP.

Sorry to hear that!

If you want another try you could email Sprint VP Marci Carris [email protected] and perhaps cite confusing communications from Sprint or some other reasons. Again this may not fly but sometimes one lucks out.

I saw that date mentioned as the end date for the Best Buy offer on Reddit (I did not notice who the poster was and am not sure if it is the same post you are referring to or not)

4/1 is the tentative target date for the merger to close. So that date could make sense from that point of view. (But it could make sense too to someone making a guess). Actually it might be somewhat odd that it would be the day *after* the supposed merger date rather than the day before or whatever, but maybe not.

P.S. off-topic, speaking of 4/4, I still remember your famous quote early on 4/5 when the Sprint website cut over to end signups for the free plan as we all watched: "Shedding a tear, tomorrow is finally here".

It may have been reddit as you suggest and just a non BB person in the SD thread.
I remember that too. As many people for years were always asking when the free plan was ending(before 4/4 warning) and one SD'er would always say tomorrow since it always said limited time offer.

I found the reddit post and you are right as always - the poster does appear to work at Best Buy.

So I guess that probably is the internal working end date at BestBuy *as of now*.

comintel,
Can you tell me more about about the S10 lease? I currently have 4 lines and would like to figure out "what's next" and max out at around $25/line. All lines are unlocked, two moto e4 (purchased unlocked) and two moto G6 Play (Boost Moto G6 Play loophole).

Also, My free plan will end on 4/30/20 and my billing cycle is on the 17th. When should I cancel to not incur being billed the full price?

Update 2/28: They have dropped the need for a trade-in on the S20 offer!

Update 2/20: Now S20 is available for zero dollars per month with a trade-in of S8 or higher (which I had) so I switched my order to S20!

I just got it ordered for zero dollars per month on an 18 month lease on a new Corporate account. It should offered on individual accounts too but you can check that out. (For the benefit of others, you cannot get this offer on kickstart). With Sprint's 18 month flex-lease, you have to return the phone in good condition at the end of the 18 months and owe nothing (or upgrade it, or buy it for 6 months of regular non-discounted payments, or rent it month to month indefinitely, the last being the terrible default choice by which they make all their money).

As to porting out, 4/29/20 is ultra safe. Experience posted here indicates even 5/16/2020 is ok too in your case but nothing guarantees that in writing so personally I would stick with porting out by 4/29. Best port out for certainty rather than rely on (not always) prompt cancellation with Sprint.

I ported to Visible from Sprint because I needed a new iPhone and wanted the $200 GC. My mother is still on Sprint. Sprint called me immediately trying to retain, but didn't seem to have a good deal for the handset.

I hope closer to the end they pull some deals to retain BYOD customers, because I very much enjoyed my two years with them. No complaints, but don't want to pay big bucks for BIG 3/4 service.
